Hello everyone.

I'm also a newbie here - first time mom to be! totally excited and anxious! Trying very hard to stay away from friends and strangers who keep telling me "pregnancy stories" and old wives' tales!!! lol. I wanna stay positive for the little buddy. Expecting a boy on 24 July 2010 at Gleneagles! 19th week this week!!!

Wow it's great to hear from so many mommies out there! There's so much things to share that I dont know where to start..haha! Ok let me start off with my week 20th checkup. Everything is going well for me & my baby boy, except my gynea said I put on slightly too much weight at week 20. He said healthy weight gain should be 5kg for 1st half and another 5 to 7kg in the 2nd half of pregnancy. So far I have already gained about 6 to 7kg which mean most of the weight goes to me!! At the moment, I have no particular craving for food n I dont't eat much sweet stuff. But I tend to eat jap food & I order cold soba whenever I have a chance.

My skin has become dryer and my back and legs have started to itch so I have to apply moisturizer after shower. So far I have not seen any stretchmark yet, and I have been applying stretchmark cream religiously. I am also having quite a bit of a moodswing, and sometimes I really feel bad for my hubby for taking the ups & downs of my emotions. I gotto say he has been really understanding and supportive. Oh another thing is I am also running out of clothes to wear to work, and I am pretty sure I have to start wearing maternity clothes starting next month. Both my sis-in-laws passed down some of their maternity clothes, so I can save a little on buying them. I also feel more tired lately, and have to drag myself out of bed every morning.

As for confinement lady (CL), my mother in law has confirmed one for me from m'sia and she asked for S$2.2k (excluding angbao in beginning & end of confinement period). I will also be hiring a maid and have her arrive in April so that she can be trained before the baby arrive and at the same time learn to cook/take care of baby when CL is here. I think April is a good time becos I still got time to change maid if she is not suitable for us.

I have not really get down to buy baby stuff yet. Mostly looking out and comparing prices. There will be quite abit of baby stuff sale going on over this weekend at Isetan, & I can't remember the other mall but you can check out today's newspaper (2/26). There will also be a Expo sale coming up in March, so do look out for it. Most likely will start buying baby essentials next month when my tummy is still not too big to go squeeze in the crowd.

Oh btw, I also signed up for prenatal class at Mt. Alvernia starting in mid April. If you are a first time mom it's advisable to signup for class now cos they get filled up very quickly.

Lucky you, i only manage to gain 1 miserable kg and i am already in my 18th week. Anyone out there that is like this??? Up till now i also do not have much appetite, i mean i still can eat but still less than before pregnancy...=(

Hi everyone, I'm Angie, a new mummy too. My EDD is 5th July. Gynae is doc. Tanny Chan. Giving birth at Gleneagles hospital. The gynae confirmed its a baby boy, 100%. Can see his little wee wee from the scan. And oh.. I like to eat beef over other meats. dont't really like fish all along, so my gynae kiasu give me fish oil says it helps brain development for baby Zachariah (That's his name) =) . Quite expensive a box $70, but as long as it helps.

Anyway just to share, I swop gynae in my second month of pregnancy. From Kandang Kerbau Hospital to private. My health was in bad shape when I first got pregnant, so Kandang Kerbau Hospital wasn't really suitable for me as more TLC is needed, and the queue there is always very long and everything is different dates and dept. My first blood test result wasn't really fantastic; in fact quite bad. So, I went for a second opinion with my current gynae (Doc. Chan) and the results were very much different. Of course, as a mum i naturally choose to be optimistic and stuck with my better option.

So far everything is good. I've stopped working too coz at that time I am always constantly tired. Was a little depressed at first coz of not use to the sudden un-productiveness and finances is tight. I think good friends and family support made me feel better very fast. And it takes away stress from my husband too, as I think he dont't feel like he have to take care of me 24/7.

I am currently looking for second hand baby goods, I can take over from people. As I am not working and the gynae fee is quite high, so just try to save as much.

Haha.. but overall still very excited.

Just want to know if anyone has started to develop stretchmark and when did you start to see them? So far my tummy is feeling taut and slight itchiness especially at night. My back feels itchy at times too so I apply stretchmark cream to reduce the itch. Some of my friends say they have stretchmark only at the end of 3rd trimester. What about you gals?

ive not seen those marks yet but def my tummy is getting itchier. also see some red spots like rashes developing. ive got the lotion but am not disciplined enuff to apply everyday coz its oily n will dirty my clothes (also dont like it on my pyjamas). backache also happening for me, esp the lower part near the end of spine/bum bone. gonna buy a small pillow n bring it to office to support my back. wish i can stay home, enjoy pregnancy n forget about work. my bitch boss kept piling me w work

Hello pooof! what a cute nick How far are you in your pregnancy? I am exactly 24 weeks today and so far I have not't got those nasty stretchmark yet. Most of the itch comes from my back and my colleague told me his wife got stretchmark on her lower back, so I am also applying cream in that area though it's kinda hard to reach. Can ask hubby for help

You can try the stretchmark cream I am using now (Galenic) a french brand. My sister In law and I like it a lot cos it's non greasy and smells great. Helps to reduce the itch too. I am not feeling any aches so far, just plain tired especially today I can feel my hormones plummet. I feel moody the whole day and just want to get home from work and go on MC tomorrow..hah!! Just got no mood to work at all.
Just hope tomorrow I feel better.

im due on 11 jul so coming to 24 week. where to buy the stretch mark cream? but i suspect it will end up sitting next to my palmer's cocoa butter lotion on my dusty shelf

haiya very very sian to work . summor i dont drive, gotta take public trpt. but now i qualify for the reserved seat so not so bad but still seeing so many pple makes me angry (baby is kicking now so i think he/she also angry)!

damn sian. reli no mood to work. gotta shoot at least 3 mc every month (bitch boss deserve it since shes working me like a dog and also she blacklist all preggies...bitch!) then nearer to my edd shall ask gynae for 3 weeks mc to r&r (dont know whether can succeed or not). after maternity leave (ml) i will decide if cont to work there or change job.

why dont the mths pass faster?! i wish its jun now n i only have one month to go. no actually reach may i be reli happy . i just wanna get over pregnancy, start my ML n cradle my little precious. super sian being a working mum, only good thg is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

this is not supposed to be my ranting grd but who cares!

You sound kinda stressed out but it's good to let it all out!! Our due date is just a few days apart and so far I am enjoying my pregnancy, except for some of downs that all of us have to cope with. You can get the stretchmark cream at Robinson cos they are having 20% sale and if are a member get an additional 5%. I think I am going to get 2 to 3 bottles so that I can put one in my office.

I am sure the itch will get worse as we go further, so I gonna be kiasu and apply whenever I feel the itch. This weekend there's this Baby Fair at Expo, so might drop by to check it out too! Meanwhile hang in there!!!

I havent gotten any stretch marks yet, but I suspect we only get them during the third trimester. Im quite nervous about them cos I already have some even before pregnancy even though they are now whitish lines and not very very obvious.

Religiously applying cream every night!!

I am also nervous about getting those unslightly stretchmarks cos I have some whitish line at the side of my butt. I guess damage control is what we can do for now.

Seen my gynea yesterday and told him I had pretty bad mood swings starting last week and he gave me vitamin B complex to help lift up my mood. He also suggest that I do more intense exercise like step master & cycling at the gym to sweat it out. Apparantly the half hr brisk walk every other day dont't really help me at all. I listened to him and did 25 mins of step master yesterday evening and took the vitamin B complex this morning. Let's see how it goes for a week or so & see if I would feel better! Other than that, everything is going pretty well for me and my little darling baby!!

i have already got stretch marks at the bottom of my breast and alittle bit on my tummy! and worse of all the stretch marks are red in color... so gross!

i am currently using clarins stretch mark control cream and hopefully it will help out alittle!

Did you put on a lot of weight so far? Check out this video on how to prevent getting more stretchmarks. Do you feel down or have terrible mood swings or hot flashes at all?

nope, weight is quite normal, doc also did not specifically mention, max 5kg.

i dont't have mood swings or hot flashes other than some backaches once in awhile.

i am quite lucky, no cravings, morning sickness, etc *touchwood*

Wah that's good! So far I have already put on 8kg at 25 weeks & have not seen any stretchmark yet..keeping my finger cross xxxxx... I also do not have MS or vomiting at all, but I do feel nausea during the 1st trimester and also some pimple outbreak. Now that they are gone, I am feeling more of mood swings and hot flashes especially earlier this week.

The vitamin B complex that I have been taking for the past 1 week is helping alot to lift my mood I feel happier and more energetic these few days which is good esp with the weekend here. Few things need to be done like shopping for breast pump (waiting for Ameda brand to go on sale), baby essentials, furnitures for nursery, etc. Also got to hire a good maid. Need lots of luck on this one!!!

Have anyone started to look around for infant care? I heard the price went up and waiting list is long.

went for my gynae chk up tdy n guess what, i've balloned almost 4kg since my last weight measurement gynae advise me to watch my diet n keep away fr sugary stuff n carbs. but its so tuff to reli ctrl diet when working coz colleagues will wanna go such-and-such a pl to eat some delicious lunch which i cant help but tag along! but will try to watch my diet , dont want any trouble since am already heading into final tri by mid apr.

i also noticed that im being to suffer fr water retention...what about you ladies? i cant fit into my wedding band and my thighs seems to weigh a ton these days. feet is def swollen now *sigh* well, so long as baby is ok i guess everything is worth it

oh so i asked gynae tdy for baby's weight n its appx 800g, well within normal range so im glad. and its a..................ger ger!! heheh was not reli able to confirm coz baby is always not in a fav position to peep. even this time round gynae said that it's still unclear coz of the position but shes more in favour of a ger ger.

btw i went to the baby fair at sg expo last week n bought all the milk bottles, sterilizer, baby food processor, breast pump etc fr avernt. spent a lot of $$$ aredi bu still have not buy the bulky stuff like cot, pram, baby bouncer, walker, etc. still got long list to go. hopefully will get everythg settled in the next month or two before i get reli huge n cldnt accom hubby anywhere...

how is everyone and your 6th month gynae chk up? pls keep us all updated on your well-being coz we're all in this journey together!

i cant wait for jun to arrive when we will start chatting about when we due, mucus plug, contractions etc
