I think I onli packed wen I was 36wks preggie? I discharge wearing the same as what I wore wen I admit myself for labour.. cos after admitting immediately change to hospital gown .. if you want you can bring another set for discharge .. I brought my own pyjames to wear during the hospital stay cos the hospital gown feels insecure (held together by one ribbon onli).. Basically I just bring everything that I will need like maternity pads, disposable undies, shower stuff (yeah I bathe in hospital! Ha!).. did not bring anything for baby cos all provided by Thomson Medical Center..
I think I standby my bag when the doctor told me I was 1cm dilated at week 32...
No.1 is really starting to act up now... she keeps crying for attention even though only 9 months old... she seems to be able to sense a little one is coming along soon... keep wanting to be carried and someone to play with her... she used to be able to fall asleep on her own , now need to lie beside her, pat and sing song before she falls asleep... When she sleeps beside me really stick like glue... I can't even move abit coz the slightest movement she will open her eyes n look at me... if I return to sleep, she will lie back on the bed and sleep... but if I move away she will cry... go toilet also have to bring her along...
When I give birth I dont know how is my husband going to cope with her... lucky I still have my parents and their maid to help out... only night sleeping time will have a problem since she is so used to sleeping with me. Ever went out with my husband for a movie date and return home late, and to our horror my no.1 was not asleep despite many people trying and it was past her bedtime... Immediately I lie down on the bed with her and she knocked out straight away... Hope the day I stay in the hospital she will be able to sleep at night... otherwise I think she will have to stay over at the hospital with me...
Jialat I m hving insomnia lately... But I m actually quite tired...
wah how come you all r so fast? Alrdy talking bout packing bags n coconuts?
I was told to pack only 1mth before my edd n coconut to drink at the last 3weeks of edd.
That was what I did for my #1 also. N I not managed to drink twice cos baby came out a week in advance if my edd.
Actually not much things to pack n I think shouldn't overpack. Just need
1)set of clothings for discharge
3)chargers for camera n hp
6)important documents n contacts
7)Cordlife box (if any)
thats all. Toiletries, Pad n baby clothings r provided.(those for 1bedded ward I think?)
I wore the gown all the way cos firstly whole day lie in bed so doesn't matter us lesser things to bring n wash. Cos somehow you will stain your clothes (blood stain) so ya . Also was too lazy to wash my face with cleanser so just splash n brush my teeth with cooked water. Rem when you discharged you will have alottt of things to bring home so keep your hands free. I had a friend who overpack n took a luggage there. How hilarious.
Meltie, Did you know the Cordlife banking for #1 is limited? As in, the Amount of blood thingy they collected varies. So formy case, it can only save up to 10kg of the child? you may wanna speak more n reconsider bout doing it for #2. Cos my initial thought was same like you..then when I ponder over it... For insurance sake (well you dont want to use it also) it's better to have ample coverage for the 2 kids.
you think its possible to bring #1 into delivery room? Just a thought.
Went to c my gynae yest. Baby is 1.118kg at 28 weeks. I put on sooo much weight . Goosh cos that time she ordered me to eat more. Had to stuff myself with food. When I had #1 I only put on 10kg. Now I just enter 3rd trim I alrdy put on 9kg. Sad man...

Haha.. Piglim.. It crossed my mind too, the bringing of #1 into the delivery room.. but , I tink can't .. if im not wrong onli spouse allowed in delivery rm.. furthermore wen labour starts, things can get quite intense and messy.. I can't imagine my #1 inside running around and trying to pull on those tubes or worse still demand I carry her.. hahaha..
Thanks for the advice! I guess I will just bring 1 set of discharge clothes and 1 set of discharge clothes for baby. N other necessities of coz. Haha... I'm trying to avoid packing too much.
I think it depends on which hospital you r going. Thomson Medical Center will keep asking you to change into your own pyjamas. I brought my own front button dress pyjamas. .. thn while lying down I pull up my dress so I wn't stain on it keke.
Bring extra pad just in case. My water bag burst when I was admitted, so they start using the complimentary pad the moment I am admitted. So by the time I gave birth, my pad provided by Thomson Medical Center is used up. If you did not bring extra, they will charge you. They will only provide one pack maternity pad n one pack baby diaper, anything extra is chargeable.
Yes, my gal also displayed alot of pattern recently, like to throw temper... sometimes I am too tired n got frustrated. .. esp now #2 also getting active in my tummy, very tiring.
Oh another question, when will gynae start to check internally? From 30 weeks onwards?
If we stain the hospital bed, will it be very embarrassing? I dont't really like to stain beds, whether home or hospital's. If at home, then i will feel even more embarrassed coz likely my mother in law will be the one washing it. Sigh.
When you r in hospital, they will put a sheet underneath so you will not stain the sheet... at home you can also buy the sheet from Guardian so you dont stain your own sheet. I also used the sheet while changing newborn where 'accident' tend to happen while changing haha
Oh... What is the sheet called? Might go check it out this weekend. Thanks Tannie!
I can't recall the exact name, let me go home n take a look.
Actually I also very ks, I scare my water bag burst in middle of night so I will put when nearer to due date haha.
Miso, do you mean cervix check? If so, then not so early .. at least not for me.. I tink my gynae onli checked wen I was 36/37 wks preggie..Originally Posted by miso:859985
I tink if you really stain hospital bed is ok .. Expected .. so much blood .. I try to sleep on the sheet .. but sometimes will move in your sleep e.g. toss or turn.. then jiu cant guarantee.. at home I try to change the maternity pads more often .. and ya, I sleep on the sheets too.. I did not buy extra, I just brought the sheets from Thomson Medical Center home.. one pc can use a few days if never stain.. hehe.. in fact I also use them for my girl's newborn photography at home.. cos all pics are nude .. then we put those sheets on the sofa in case she pee or poop (which she really did)..
I gave birth at gleneagles.. no baby clothes for discharge .. they kept reminding me to have a change of clothes at discharge for baby.. and even helped me to change baby into it.. brought own hat , mittens and swaddle..
As I was reading through the post, I keep thinking... i dont remember me staining the hospital bedsheets ... Maybe my blood flow wasnt that much. I was just using the normal heavy flow pad, I didnt buy any long maternity pads at all. Only used the hospital pads. And yes, I remembered buying the underpads. They're really really useful even though my flow wasnt heavy.
My #1 will be home with my maid and I've asked my granny to stay over my house to just oversee my maid. So all is arranged nicely as planned. My hubby will stay with me when I admit for delivery. For my #1, I felt contractions and was told to admit as the contractions intervals are getting closer. No breaking of water bag (or maybe I couldn't felt it), no induce. I heard being induced is painful. I hope this time round, the delivery is the same as my #1 and also no jaundice. Then we can all discharge on the 2nd day together.
They all said 2nd pregnancy is different, but somehow I hope it's the same for me. Hehehehe! Yes, getting soooo tired lately! My #1 is also the same as your #1 described! Separation anxiety gets worse! I wonder how it will be like when #2 is out at home with #1. But I'm sure we all can manage... everything "shui ji ying bian"!
some elderlys are sharing with me that no.1 shouldn't be home when no.2 and mummy is returning home... They say no.1 cannot see mum returning with no.2... mum should settle no.2 at home first then go downstairs and bring no.1 home... once bring home, mum should be the one introducing no.2 to no.1... this is to prevent jealousy between siblings and let no.1 know that mummy still loves him/her...
what I read was.. wen mummy comes home with #2.. make sure that mummy is not carrying #2 so that mummy keep her hands free to hug #1 and introduce #1 to #2.. also to prevent jealousy.. so that's what im prob gonna do.. then also to buy a gift for #1 and tell her that didi brought her a gift! My friend says this gift approach works for her.. I hope it works for me too.. Though I have not thought of what to buy for #1 yet..
ya the gift I heard about it too...
Hmm i have not made any solid arrangements to settle no.1 yet.. but most prob i need hubby to settle my no.1.. so may not make him stay w me this time round.. but he was a great help coz i was in pain and allergic reaction etc.. his friends come he was around too.. so easier.. he also helped me to the toilet and helped me apply some of the piles cream.. this time round i guess i gotta be stronger on my own.. my no.1 come hospital also won't be very ez to handle her.. sure ask me to carry and stuff.. sure run all over the place... sigh how man.. but i will miss my girl.. i'm taking care of her needs 24-7.. cannot imagine not seeing her n putting her to sleep.. worried for her meals too.. dont know if hubby can cook for her .. and manage everything while i go give birth... am i thinking too much? hahaa
Oh ya i just went to see my gynae today! My girl is growing very well, placenta is high, umblical cord is good, baby facing down, 1.8kg now @ 30 weeks! Gynae commented very good weight.. i've gained almost 10kg! My no.2 is super active! Kicking non stop and moving around whole time.. these days she kicks me alot in the middle of the night!!
And oh! any of you have decided on your baby's name? sigh i'm still trying to think of a name.. her sister is Charlotte.. i like classic names.. any suggestions? Been thinking of Claire, Isabel, Lydia.. just cannot find one that i can really say 'aha!'.. For my no.1, hubby n i thought of her name since early stage of pregnancy ! Poor no.2 is still nameless and i dont't have much time to talk to her.. haha
Meltie.. No no.. you're not thinking too much.. cos im thinking the same too.. although im not with my girl 24/7, I made it a point to bring her home from the nanny every night so she always sleeps with me.. She has never slept without me before.. So now im quite worried how things will be wen im in hospital, whether she will be sleeping well.. if I will be in hospital on a weekday, then still not so bad at least she's used to nanny's cooking.. if im in hospital on a weekend, I have to rely on hubby or my mum or mother in law to cook for her.. my hubby is totally clueless.. I have to specifically tell him where everything is kept (including a description of how they look like) and give precise instructions.. my mother in law on e other hand likes to put salt or soya sauce in porridge which I hate but she insist baby dont like plain porridge.. But I believe in natural flavouring for my girl .. if you cook porridge with meat or sweet potato etc, it will be flavoured .. my mum also e same.. though she respect my wishes unlike my mother in law.. so my mum is prob e best candidate..
Im also trying to tink of names for my boy now.. so late! I thought of jie jie's name wen I was in 2nd trimester I tink.. now im in 3rd trimester and didi still has no name.. So these few days I have shortlisted a few to discuss with hubby.. I super like Zachary! But he says it sounds like a spoilt brat name.. >_< Now still trying to convince him.. Jie jie is called Desiree, if didi is called Zachary, their name sort of rhymes and both names are 3 syllabus too!
Wow meltie.. your girl's growing so well! I always have a weight issue with my babies.. Sighz.. Gg to gynae 2 weeks later and gynae say e target weight to reach is 2kg at 33 wks.. super stress.. I know how to make me put on weight.. but I dont know how to make didi put on weight..
your babies still very active now? I feel my boy like not as active as before .. And it kinda worries me.. I can still feel him move but most of the time it"s just like rolling around or stretching of the limbs.. very mild movements.. no more kicks and sharp jabs.. I hope it's cos there's not much rm inside and not cos of anything else.. I cant believe I rather he kick me or give me sharp jabs more.. haha..
I also have not thought about no.2 name... we have shortlisted a few but can't decide... my no. 1 is called elva...
No.2 is growing well... Only active at night, making sleep so difficult... everyday jab me here n there in the middle of the night...
