HL125 is quite reasonable for the price tag. It sounds very different but not inferior to U1. It lend more towards Kaiwai's tone. I would recommend it to my students. Atlas A102 is OK too. I am planning to get a Hailun grand 161 myself once I saved enough. They are quite new in the market. I am not sure if they can stand the test of time but since it's warrant for 10 years....

I would rather have my students use an electronic keyboard if they were less than 4 years old. Because it would evolves round aural/ear training than actual playing. IMO, if their hands were not strong enough to handle an acoustic, dont't force it. If their hands were already well-developed, dont't pinch. It's not wise to train a jockey on a donkey even though both animal have 4 legs.

Anyone got any feedback on these 2 models?
I am also looking for piano. Went to Yamaha over the weekend and the salesperson also recommended U1J & JX113T. She also recommended the exam model YM5. My son is taking Grade 1 exam next yr March. Should I go for Yamaha brand ? Is it necessary to get YM 5, the exam model?

For beginners like young kids, I would suggest HaiLun HL125. Good value for % and if they are interested to pursue further, you can upgrade later maybe 5 years as they have a cash back 50% at 5 years.

Will you be concern if your child learns half way and gives up? Or your child requires an upgrade after a few years?
Whether taking ABRSM Grade 1 or Grade 5, many can start with a Digital Piano, like a Yamaha Digital Clavinova or a CASIO AP series.

Might want to read here: Why buy a Digital Piano and not an Acoustic Piano?

    Re: Which piano to buy???

    Hi there, forum-users
this musically-challenged mommy needs a little bit of advice w.r.t to choosing a 2nd hand exam piano (vesicular for young kI
    What's your take on a YUS vs a U1?
Understand this was only manufactured in Japan & only for a really short while but sounds not too bad.
Could piano's touch be a little too hard for a young kid.
Any issue with tuning, availability of parts for our local tuners?

Which wld you recommend - U10 (20yrs) vs YUS (32yrs)?
Only concern if it's difficult to tune or service since very few sets available or possibly rare in SG.
    Thx

    Re: Which piano to buy???

Many tuners can tune most of the pianos, especially Yamaha so you dont have to worry. Yamaha U1 is good. I've read some people recommending Hailun but from my own experience, pls dont't buy China Made Hailun HL125 or any other.
