Re: Only child

Hi,

In fact, me also share the same mindet as you to stop at only 1 child after giving birth to my boy. However, after more than a yr, I start to have the urge of having a 2nd one, hoping to have a girl.

Currently, me & my hubby are trying our luck.

Re: Only child

Yeah, now that my daughter is 2 years plus, i am itching to have a second child, cos i feel that my daughter is quite lonely and always play pretend with the toys, she loves it when i arrange for playdate with the friends...

So I am not really planning for a sceond child, but we are not taking any precaution, so will let you know if there are any 'surprises'

But to go through it again, i am really quite scared as i had mild depression after my first child....

Re: Only child

At times I will have the thinking of sticking to one child when I'm drained out of me energies just by handling my dear son alone . At the same time I love to have at least 2 more children that is if the next one is a boy I will try for another girl .
But the thought of having another child worries me as I do not know how to share my love for both children equally . Giving equal attention etc.
The thought of it gives me headache .

Re: Only child

I've 2 dds n if you ask me I really also wished to have a dear son too.... But will not try now cos it's not a good time.

One of my friends who has a dear daughter has always been telling me that 1 is enuff for her. I wld tell her dear daughter will b alone if something were to happen to her n her dear husband. She'll have no one to discuss n share prob with. I really like tis sentence that was said from a father to a daughter.... your sibling will be the oni one related to you (in terms of immediate family) when your mum n I r no longer around.

As for the division of love between 2 kids, I'm pretty sure I'm not doing a good job either... I do feel that I tend to favour my elder dear daughter more, however, I'm also trying hard to b fair to both. There's no way of balancing love I shld say but just try cos sometimes really depends on the situation at the pt of time ...

i dont't agree w this statement.. i see siblings fighting among each other for assets.. that's even more heartbreaking..

im stopping at one.. im not gonna plan for another one.. unless i accident again, then i will just go with the flow.. let nature take its course.. im not on pills.. but im not trying to concieve-ing too.. like what carol says, will have means will have.. it's all fated..

Re: Only child

This is a tough choice. For my own sake, I will stop at one. For the sake of my son, I should have a 2nd child. At this point of time, I am contented to have only one child. To a certain extent, this is a selfish decision. Many things are beyond our control. My son popped out even tho we took precautions will let nature take its course.

Re: Only child

For me, one is enough... tho ppl keep saying only child would be lonely, only child would behave differently when they grow up, but I think as long parents giving the only child enough love and attention, everything will goes well.... I have friends and relatives who r only child and they are fine and happy anyway.........

I was thinking if one day we were all gone and left with #1 alone, so had been considering and considering to have #2, that's why my elder dear son and 2nd dear son gap so far. How my elder dear son can't wait that his bro will grow up faster so that he has his bro to play with.

Agreed that siblings fighting among each other, just like my il's siblings. Siblings' conflict was due to how parent treat and lead each and other child.

Hmm.... you have a point there... my dear daughter will be left alone if one day we're gone.... but.... I hope by then she got happily married .... or maybe make her married off early? Whahha.... just kidding.

I have to disagree with this statement because I dont't over pampered my child. I have friends who are only child and they grew up very well mannered, well balanced adults.
