Anyone care to share baby's estimated weight at birth?
Just back from gynae. baby now at 2.6kg and have about another 3wks to go.
delivered my first baby girl on wk 37. wt 2.6 kg.
its a sudden labour as water burst early in the morning at 5.30 am on 21 march 09. luckily the day before, i went to see my gynae and he told me due soon as already dilating and i have already experience contractions which i myself dont even know..
on hearing that anytime may go into labour, i quickly rush out to have cold drinks and junk food as i know confinement time cannot take those.
labour is smooth sailing as i took epidural but one thing no good is i was stitched TWICE!. imagine the pain man... cant even walk or sit for the first week.
but looking at my baby girl.. all the pain is nothing..
Where did you deliver your baby? How come you were stitched TWICE? Oh my god, that must be horribly painful... Can you share with us at what stage you administered the epidural? Right from the beginning or only when you feel that you cannot endure the pain anymore?
Share baby photo soon ya?
I just came back from check-up. My baby is still small at 2.3kg at 38weeks...My gynae said there is no sign of increase in weight since my last check up two weeks ago...sad..
Gynae adviced that i go for induce labour since baby has somehow stop growing inside so it might not be healthy for baby if i wait for EDD and let her stay inside too long...But I heard that induced labour can be very painful and got higher chance will lead to c-sec which i am not prepared for...so worried..
congtrs to you and your hubby.
All the best to you.
well, i heard from my colleague that cannot inject epidural once dilate to a certain cm(think 6 cm) so right from the moment i step into thomson medical centre, i told them i want epidural but they still need to get my gynae approval. think i was injected with epidural when i was dilating at 3 cm.
well, i can say the pain of injection into the hand and back was nothing as compared to contraction. but after the injection, everything was ok except occassionally i can still feel the contraction.
one thing not so good about epidural is the vomiting after delivering. the chest pain and vomiting makes one feels like knocking herself on the wall and faint. very bad feeling. another thing is may not have the strength to push as we cannot control the muscle . my baby was vaccum suck after serveral fail attempts to push.
as for stitching.. well, my gynae is such a busy person that he answer the call while stitching me i think so he miss out some spots and have to re-stitch .
btw, gals, remember to breastfeed the baby no matter how tired you are to reduce the chance of juandice
Thanks for sharing... This is the first time I heard of vomiting after delivering if we go for epidural. I hate the feeling of vomiting also... yuks... Cos these past few days, I am having a relapse of the vomiting spell, and I really feel like killing myself... hehe...
As for your gynae, I'm not sure what to say, but if I were you, I would definitely be very unhappy because how can he answer a phone call while still attending to a patient, esp when he is still stitching you up. I would deem this as unprofessional and I would probably even lodge a complain... (sorry, maybe I am a complain queen)... I just feel that being busy is not a good reason for him to divert his attention. He should have his assistants or nurses take a message for him.
I agreed, on th phone while stitching is no good...
As for the vomiting, it only happen to certain ppl. I vomit till my gastic juices also come out, taste bitter n disgusting (green col) but i start my vomiting slightly before delivery n last till after delivery.... Really feel like kockin myself on the wall.
Wow... it is really starting to sound scary to me... Initially when I knew I was pregnant, there was only joy... then, excitement (buying baby stuff, choosing baby name, etc), and now that due date is nearing... it seems like all I feel is fear... fear of the pain, fear of the entire labour ordeal, fear of the aftermath, fear of confinement, fear of not being able to lose weight... *faint*
fear not. cos when you look at your litle one, all the pain are nothing..
i was in such great pain for the first 1 and 1/2 wks after delivering but whenever i look at my little girl, i forgot about the pain.
labour wise, if you chose epidural, once injected, you can sleep as i heard it takes 1 hr to dilate 1cm and we need to be dilated till 10 cm then can deliver
as for confinement, i did not even have any confinement lady for the first week as i have delivered much earlier than expected. luckily my hubby was there to help. so the two of us struggle for the whole week till my mother in law came to help us.
actually nothing much to afraid during confinement except rest a lot and dont SQUAT at all and dont STAND too long.
for wt loss..cant advise as i only gain 5kg for my entired pregnancy so i was pretty much back to my pre pregnancy right after delivery. now my hubby is feeding me a lot of food, think he wants me to be fat like him.. :P
Thanks for the encouragement... I suppose you are right... When we look at the baby, everything that we have gone through is worth it... My next checkup is next week, lets see what happens from there.... lol
Whatever the reason may be even giving your gynae the benefit of doubt, he should still be concentrating on you and not taking calls. Can understand that this is like routine to them but for you, it is the first time and would appreciate some sensitivity here.
ya wind blow i fly away........
when i found out i was pregnant was happy but worried about not being able to provide the little want nutrients
cause gt reflux prob
so no matter hw i vomit, i still force myself to eat
never in my life my weight over 40kg hee hee
so imagine the stretch marks i have on my body now
just diahorea again.....
feel like vomiting too
anyone encounter this near edd??
Did your gynae give you antacid for your reflux prob? I had those and it does help. I'm near edd too but only experience contractions and seem to be falling sick easily...was about to recover then caught another superbug and now coughing and sneezing terribly. But stretch marks...urgh..tell me about it!
I just visited my gynae. She did a VE and said I'm 1cm dilated. But she can't tell if I'm going to go into labour soon as some women dilate really slowly...The VE didn't really hurt; it just felt really uncomfortable. Initially, when she inserted her fingers inside, I didn't feel any discomfort. But when she started stretching my cervix, that was when it really felt uncomfortable!!!
Anyway, I booked my induction date already just in case I dont't give birth by my EDD. If my baby doesn't pop by then, I will be induced on 10 April...
