I am a Kandang Kerbau Hospital private patient and am delivering at Kandang Kerbau Hospital and my EDD is around National Day too!!!!
Medela from States is around 200 plus bah. I think locally I paid $360 for 1 set. Cheap right comapred to SGD 900 for Medela Freestyle in Singapore. I checked on the servicing too...servicing is double if you purchase from States but if you buy a new one, it wont spoil so fast unless you "sway" or anyhow use. If you need to get spare parts from servicing centre in sg, they sell at normal retail rates.
Agree that Singapore is becoming more expensive. Even my relatives from Thailand and HK said so. If you think hotels in HK is exp, wait till you find out how much they pay for hotels in Singapore... a normal 3-4 class hotel is already $100 odd plus plus. If 5 class and abv, will be at least $200 odd plus plus. Even biz associates who fly to singapore also find singapore exp. Hiah...
But look on the bright side. This yr's election has also made the singapore government "wake up" from the ideal world. At least now they know that not all Singaporans live in the ideal world like them and they are realising it now. And recently we hear govt reviewing their 'super high salary' thru a committee. I heard some exp mummies complaining that child care is always increasing sch fees (happily) every semi annually. I hope govt step in to do something about it cos I think basic education should be affordable for all class in a country. The other thing I hope our government can look at is work life balance for ppl in our age group (middle class). I find them ppl in our age grp working in private sector are clocking crazy hours at work - 12 hours/day??? Why has Singapore labour become so cheap and efficient? (HK is worst) When so many jobs are moving(offshored) to India/China due to low cost(overall), I checked to find out their working hours. My god!!! They leave on the dot. Plus their infrastructure is so bad that if there is a strike or traffic jam, they dont have to go work?!?! And do you know that they get USD bonus compared to us???? I was very shocked when I found out about all these, and it's considered the norm in my industry*disgusted*...WTH!!!!!
Instead of allowing foreign companies coming in to exploit Singaporeans(make us work long hours and pay us peas), I hope the government can think of a way to attract foreign companies to invest in Singapore/Singaporeans, and provide a win-win situation for these foreign companies thru tax relief, tax incentive, perks in return for a bond of x yrs in sg, infrastructure relief, etc to keep them in Singapore, hiring Singaporeans to work for these foreign companies and secure a better work life for Singaporeans. We need these companies to help us create jobs for Singaporeans.
Ooopss too engrossed, going out of point. Stay healthy everyone.
