My son't pediatrician strongly recommended us to include solid food since 4 month old to prevent allergy. However I decided to wait up to 6 month old.
It seams nobody wrote in this thread for ages How are your babies? Can your little ones already crawl, sit or stand up? Do your babies teething?
I'm very afraid of teething time. I heard that baby may bite during breastfeeding and may be very fidgety especially during the night time...
how's your boy? my girl can sit up unsupported now and when we put out our fingers, she'll grab and go to a standing up position. She now prefers standing up to anything else. As for crawling she's not hit that milestone yet but when she's on tummy time she tries her means to kick the floor to inch forward - think her round belly preventing her from moving forward haha.
no teething for Stevlynn yet but i've started feeding her semi solids and slowly introducing the different types of cereals, fruits & vegetables. Having fun making purees for her
Bhw, I've heard that some babies in 5 months can stand by themselves in their cots! Now I'm afraid to leave my son along even in his cot...
Same, same... my son likes to stand using my fingers)) And he gets very angry when I dont't give him fingers to let him stay. He still doesn't know how to stand by himself but already enjoys stand-up position

Hi Nov mummies!!!
How are your babies? Crawl, stand, wave "bye-bye", clap their hands and so on? Do you still breastfeeding? Everything is interesting! We didn't write anything here for ages!!!
So busy catching the active lil one..lol
So far she has met most milestones: Crawl (very fast) stands with holding and can stand w/o any support for 7 secs or so, cruises around holding on to ppl or things, only dont like her solids, no teeth. Likes to move to music, doesn't like feeding herself (yet), even stars also want me to feed, and yes I am still breastfeeding with no formula at all.
hi cony & godloved; i've been busy with work and baby. Stevlynn has met most of her milestones and i officially call her a 'worm' now, cuz she's squirmy during diaper change time. and yes, i'm still totally breastfeeding her (a feat for me given that i had no expectations when i first started, and have to travel frequently for work w/o her)
how are both of you?
Hi adelynn, godloved! It's so exciting to here from you! I remember the time when we only expected our babies. It seams it was in another life Babies change our life a lot!!!
Adelynn, I've seen the photos of Stevlynn, she's so so cute!!! She looks like a tiny lady Is she already wearing shoes??? My son still can't stay without support and can't walk even holding my hand, so shoes are not required yet(( Nevertheless he can crawl, stay with support, like solids very much.
It's interesting, how much milk do you give your babies every day? I give milk to my son only 3 times a day (+night time) and think that it might be too less...
Hi Adelynn and Cony and the other mummies in the thread,
Let's all persevere and continue in our journey in motherhood.
Yes babies do change our lives, but it's a positive change so I am still thankful that baby came into my life.
Cony: I still latch my baby on demand mostly, but every time I pump for weekends or whatever outing that I feel latch-on is not so appropriate, in a day she will drink about 4 bottles of 150 mls or so, and on those days I still latch her on before I go out and after we get home so I guess total it's about 900ml in a day.
I am still trying to get her interested in solids. She thrives on fruit, sweet potato, pumpkin and some types of biscuits but I cannot say the same for other foods. Pretty advervse to the brown rice with ikan bilis and si sen powder the last I tried, not very enthusiastic on other cereals either (tried: Neslac, Happy Times)
Do you all have any tips? Please share
I tried porridge too but she will turn after maybe 5 mouthfuls. And she has no teeth yet, so she gums her food, which is a cute sight to me. Hope to hear from you soon
Hi Cony! thanks... yea, she's wearing shoes already (vanity of the mummy mostly) and she can now 'walk' with me holding her hands over her. Stevlynn now drinks 5 times a day (1 bottle of FM; 3 bottles of EBM & 1 latch on) I think the latch on is more for comfort rather her being hungry. Each bottle is about 120ML; if in a good mood 150ML. Weekends is 100% latch on if i'm around.
Godloved: for food wise, try to mix in her favourite stuff in together with her cereal or new item you're trying to introduce, may help that it's her favourite taste. For Stevlynn if she sees me eating the same food, she'll automatically get interested cuz she thinks it's 'adult food'
Try that maybe?
Godloved, as for solid food there are some tips that helped my son to get used to any food that I gave to him:
1. If I decided to introduce a new food, I give him it every day. First day he takes just a little (and almost always he doesn't like it), second day he recognizes the taste and can take some more. In a 3-4 days he already enjoys the new taste
2. Sometimes I give him a baby teether into the hand with which all food is tasty!
I try to cook for my son by myself (in spite of it's really time consuming...)
I'm curious, do your babies sleep during the whole night? What are your tips to make babies asleep (except for the breast ?
Cony: Stevlynn sleeps through the night; and has been doing that since she was 5 weeks old. My parents' tip? dont't let her sleep between 6PM to 9PM, and about 9ish, give her a full feed and she would knock out till morning. Works for Stevlynn; when she was younger we would wake her up for an early morning feed but she'd rather sleep than drink milk.
Thanks to both Adelynn and Cony for the advices..
I cook for baby A too, but I think she likes adult food cut into pieces and not the mashed up stuff, well I'm not giving up - will try harder armed with the tips given. Baby, in my case does not even want to open mouth to try as long as she sees mushy food. I am beginning to think it's a texture problem, but anyhow thanks for all tips.
With regards to sleeping, Baby has slept thru since 6 weeks so I do not have any big problem on that (thank God) but recently she prefers to sleep in my bed rather than her playpen. She has gotten used to the routine, bathe, feed then it's zzz time, so perhaps a routine of sorts will help...
I also agree with Adelynn that evening try not to let baby sleep anymore else will push back the sleep time somehow.
Hi, Adelynn and Godloved!
Thanks a lot for your advices! You're so lucky! Wow, sleeping through the light - it's great!!! I'm trying to organize the routine process for the last week, let's see if it helps...
How do you make your babies fall asleep? Do you just put the into the bed and they sleep?
Good luck Godloved with introducing the solid food! I'm sure your baby will live it one day!!! My son likes a lot when I give him food by hands - small pieces of mango, papaya, apple, avocado and something like that. However nothing makes him as happy as baby teether))) When he sees it, he starts dancing)))
Cony: Stevlynn has a bedtime 'routine' whereby we sponge her down give her a short massage with her lotion, read a short story to her and then put her in her bed with her night light off and leave the room. After awhile she'll just fall asleep on her own...
Our babies are turning the big 1 in a month's time or so any mummies already planning for the bday bash?!
Yes, one year old celebration is very soon))) Are you planning anything special?
We decided to celebrate just with family, because it's more for parents than for baby...
Yea am trying to plan fir her bday bash but been busy with work...
hi mommies, been awhile since i'm here..
i have some concerns over my boy:
1st, he's 14months old now and can't walk by himself yet.. is this normal? feels like he should have walked since 12months cos my friends babies all start to walk between 11-13months. though my pediatrician assure me he's ok, she just said he's abit on heavy side weighing 12.8kg and 83cm tall. but i still worry and hope he will walk by himself soon.
2nd is his eating progress, he's not that interested in food that adults eat, he ONLY eat his soft rice, baby cereal, blended fruit, yogurt and milk well.. just like 10months old food.
he rejects everything else like bread, biscuit and EVERYTHING i eat..
kinda feel left out when i brought him out and other babies his age could eat noodle, bread, etc..
please give your advise.. thanks so much
Walking wise I feel that all kids are different, some faster some not so fast. But I hear before that babies who start walking later than the peers might just be the careful sort. Is he walking with support? Like hold on the furniture all that..if he is, probably just safer sort, I wouldn't worry too much one day when he is ready he will take you by surprise..Esp if doctor says it's fine as well.
Eating wise, I have the direct opposite of your son. My gal only likes our food. Boycotts all cereals, skipped the porridge stage and guess what? I have comments that she should stick to baby food from all those concerned relatives. So on that I think we just cannot please everyone. So to me, I please my child and I think you should too. As long as he is growing well I should think it is ok as well.
You might want to know that some babies are texture sensitive. Maybe he just prefers all the baby textured foods and isn't as ready to move on but given time, I am sure he will and do not give up. Press on..That's very important. Continue to offer him foods that you would like him to try but just let him decide. He knows best and you as his mother will be the best person to decide for him as well since you are his caregiver.
Just what I feel and to let you know that you've got support..
thanks for your reply godloved..
yes my son cruising alot.. holding onto mostly furniture for support, he even likes to hold my leg which i find abit funny. but still he doesn't walk 'on his own'.
as for his eating patern, i kept telling myself as long as he's growing healthily i shouldn't worry.. but still sometime i'm abit pai-seh cos i feel like my boy 'behind-schedule'. what you said about texture sensitive is absolutely right. he hates anything dry like biscuit, baby puffs etc.. he also prefer bland food.. so he will reject almost everything i let him try.
thanks again for your support, makes me feel better already
As for walking, I have a question to you: does your son attend any playgroup where he would be able to look at other kids the same age?
Sometimes babies need a good example in front! My son is early walker (10.5m) and once his friend (who was 13 months and still didn't walk) came to us to play with him. She was observing my son for some time (how he was walking by himself, played with toys and so on) and in a some time she started walking my herself!!! Her parents were so happy!!!
Anyway, dont't worry too much - I know one guy who started walking only in 1.5 years. Now he walks perfect Some kids just need a little bit more time...
As for food, have you tried just to put some "adult" food in front of him to let him be able to take the pieces by himself? They are so curious this age, so may be he would like to try once How many teeth he already has?
Honestly, I would be glad if my son liked baby food... it's so healthy! Now if I dont't put salt and a little bit pepper in the food - he refuses it!
hi cony, thanks for your reply.
No my son not attending any playgroup or nursery yet.. Only plan to send him when he's 18 months old.
I did let him play with my friends kids who are older, but instead of walking he prefer to crawl cos its faster.
I guess I should just go with his flow and give him more time.
As for adult food I did try let him self feed which he can't do yet, he would play with the food.
He will taste once or twice and play with them. Ya I should think more positively abit since my boy eat his meal well and baby meal is healthier. Instead of salf I usually melt cheese or grind anchovies for flavour, you might wanna try them.
My boy got 8 teeth now but seems like he's not using them much. He's lazy to chew.. Sigh..
