This is a discussion on EDD Sep 2010 within the Year 2011 and earlier Mummy forum, part of the Mummy Meeting Place category; I did hear about how what we eat/drink can affect the taste of our milk~ so I guess red date ...
I did hear about how what we eat/drink can affect the taste of our milk~ so I guess red date tea will add a little sweetness that our babies may enjoy, hee hee! Does anyone know whether it's okay to drink coffee?
Thanks for initiating the Facebook group, Fiona! Have requested to join as well!
I'm also conscious of taking too much sweet stuff because I wanna try and lose the excess weight - been sorting through all my old clothes and wondering when I'd be able to fit into them again.... sigh!
Well, it depends on individual how fast they can lose the excess weight. If you breastfeed you can lose more weight, the longer you breastfeed, the more weight you lose coz baby sucking the fats from you. hahaha
For me it took me about 6mths then i can fit them again. But after the 2nd delivery, very hard to regain. coz stay at home mum, age etc.
I heard that post natal massage helps to lose weight, reducing water retention, as well.
Yes, post natal massage will help to lose weight but must get a good one. Those that will wrap your adobmen to flatten your tummy and support your womb.
Some ppl may have sensitive skin & allergy to the massage oil and gel, and would give it a miss. Then have to get the adobmen belt to reduce the tummy.
dont worry too much about weight gained, can always go on healthy diet after the confinement. Please do not go on diet during your confinement, this is the only time to build up you health for the sake of your baby.

EDIT: Oh, did a search on google for postpartum support belts - looks like they're different. But perhaps wanna wait til after delivery before buying so that we can get the proper sizing.
I also have a bando that I plan to wear for the first few weeks for gentle support, not sure if it will be useful though: http://chalicematernity.com/store/im...nt%20cover.JPG
I am considering to engage a malay massage lady for my post natal massage. They are likely to provide/recommend us some bind, not sure if it is same to those retailing outside.
I am sourcing for post natal massage and saw that Origins Jamu is having promotion. Anyone has feedback or recommendations?
Singapore- Origins Jamu Massage - Promotions
The massage lady uses the traditional type of bind, super long pc of cloth tie round your abdomen (will tie a knot at the tummy help to reduce the tummy). after the bind you will sit staight up (guess to help strengthen the back). for the first few day, will feel uneasy and some ppl will give up soon.
I never try Origins Jamu services, i engaged freelance massage lady which come to the house.
Ooh~ I think I have just passed my mucus plug! A blob of sticky jelly-like stuff, but no blood stains so far. And for some reason, my little girl is super active tonight! Is it a sign?

Signs of labor | BabyCenter
Although it is one of the signs of labour to look out for, I've also read that it's not a very reliable indication that baby will be arriving soon - sometimes still need to wait for days or even a week or two before contractions begin! Sigh~ (thanks DELvy anyway! I'm also getting very excited but trying to manage my expectations also heh heh)
Would like to know if we storage the breastmilk into storage bag n put into the fridge. when we need the milk then just take out the bag and put whole bag into the bottle warmer directly or we need change to bottle and warm it ? i am first time mummy..not sure of this.
i also heard ppl say the milk bag better storage into different compartment of the fridge, is it true?
the milk bag should place at the frozen level ?
Yes, is a sign to look for. I waited for almost 24hrs before the contractions. Found the discharge at 9am, head to hospital for check up at 4pm. mid wives checked my cervix, start to feel very mild contraction, cervix 1cm dilated and was asked to go home rest. Waited till next morning 5am, the contraction is unbearable, head to hospital and was admitted.
BTW, did gynae do a test on the discharge for bacteria?
Certain bacteria is harmful to the baby. if bacteria is found, medication needed. My 1st pregnancy did not test, and tested on my 2nd pregnancy.
Heard also that for some mummies they dont't notice the mucus plug at all - either because it only gets discharged very late, like during labour itself, or sometimes in the toilet they may have missed seeing it (esp. if you're the kind who uses water to rinse).
Anyway not much difference to me - since there are no other labour signs at the same time - just makes me more gan cheong only! haha!
your sign is same as mine. I felt discharging thought is mensu, after checked is mucus with abit of blood stain. Put on panty liner to observer further, and it stopped for a few hours then blood stain appeared again so decided to called hospital to check. was asked to go for a check up, that how i found out actually i'm into labor but still early to admit and went home to rest.
Guess, you continue to observe, and meanwhile prepare yourself anytime contraction starts, water bag burst or mensu. dont panic, anything that you dont feel good, either call your gynae or hospital to check. They will advise you accordingly.
All the best & Jia You!

Just to share old wives tales.
Open up all the drawers in the house before heading to hospital for delivery, and you will have a easy delivery. I dont know how true is it but no harm trying. I did follow and delivered pretty smoothly. woke up from the contraction, heard mid wives called gynae hurried to hospital. gynae reached hospital within 15 mins and checked on me, in less then 30 mins i gave birth.
