I just gave birth on 9 nov and according to the doctor, I had a difficult labor. My natural birth had a 10% chance of having a c section as my baby refuse to turn because the cord was all over him and his neck. I had to choose whether to go for c section straight or to try natural first. I chose natural and all went well. Baby needed vacuum suction and I need episiotomy.
As the thread title reads, I'm having problems with the pain. I can't sit, walk, stand, do anything well as the wound hurts like crazy. The only position that is painless is to lie down. I wonder how long this will last. So I found this website which gives good suggestions on how to relief pain.. Going to try some of them. Otherwise, it hurts looking after my baby. >.<

I realised there was no short cut to this except recovery over time >_< . But not sure if the hospital gave you a bottle of antiseptic wound wash, which worked very well for me (to spray on the cut area after you pee, after a bath etc). you can ask from your gynae. I ran out of my first pack of painkillers, so my gyane also prescribed me an extra pack to tide over the pain.
I also found not wearing tight underwear helpful
i got the antiseptic liquid to apply to the wound too. it didn't help to relieve the pain but at least i know the wound will not be infected.
i got painkillers too. but my mum, mum-in-law and my husband didn't allow me to take it as i'm breastfeeding...
i got over the pain in 8 days, thank goodness. when i had the pain i thought it lasted forever. i did the unglam things like not wearing underwear, keep my legs wide open and lie on the bed facing the fan just to air it... and ate all my meals half lying on the bed. my husband force me to it. otherwise i'll be walking to do stuff and trying to sit down despite the pain. just being lazy for a few days helps to heal i guess.
thank goodness i got over the aftermath of labor. =)
thanks for all the suggestions!
At week 36, obgyn recommended me to do perineum massage, to reduce chances of needing episiotomy.
It probably worked as I didn't need one even when baby was big. But his hand squeezed out and gave me a first-degree tear.
Episiotomy is like second-degree tear.
Anyway, the hospital provided me pads with icy cold liquid inside. Super-cool and comfortable for the stitches. Example is at Peri-K Perineal Cold Pack
My KL obgyn said they are available at Gleneagles.
With the ice pads, I didn't need any painkiller.
Alternatively, I just came across these post-partum ice gel packs: http://ezmotherhood.com/store/WsDefault.asp?One=793
