My girl is currently 18 months and has always been on breastmilk + 150ml formula milk (at night) per day. However, she started rejecting formula milk 1.5 months ago. dont know why.. I did not change the brand nor the amount. Initially, I thought she no longer wants to drink from bottle so I change it to sprout & straw. But it seems like its the smell and taste of formula that puts her off. She gave me that puking action and shakes her head whenever formula milk is presented to her. I gave a cooling period of 2 weeks before reintroducing it back to her. But that does not help.
Hence, I stop giving her formula since then. Beside mummy's milk, I gave her Meiji Choco Milk (she dislikes fresh milk), wholemeal bread with cheese (I sprinkle some breakfast cereal [e.g. koko crunch, honey stars, etc.] on top as she does not fancy cheese alone), tofu, biscuits that are high in calcium. Ikan Bilis with bones are good source of calcium so I grind them after giving it a toss in the wok and add to her porridge. Whenever I eat ice cream / Choco, she will have a little of them as well. I am still trying to get her to drink some soya milk as she does not like it that much. These are some of the ways I substitute her calcium from formula. Oh ya, a little sunshine is good for the bones too
My child is a little small size just like her parents. But she is otherwise a healthy & happy girl who is capable of using an iPad like an adult, knows how to sort shapes correctly, loves story books & kick a ball, among many other things
