Hello Oct mummies. Finally got energy to surf net. Mine was quite a terrible and long labour process.
I was supposed to see my gynae for normal checkup on 7Oct (tue) morning. Then my gynae said my blood pressure was too high, it's better to induce on that day or it will be dangerous for me, anyway, I have already dilate 2cm. So around 12noon, she has inserted a tablet for induction. Then I went to take my lunch at the Thomson Medical Center cafe first. About 2pm, I went to check in for admission.
About 5pm, my gynae came down to break the warter bag, plus put me into drip which meant to speed up the process. And the contraction pains start coming in. Oh no, its so painful. I used the "laughing gas" which doesnt seems to help in the pain. Maybe I dont know how to breathe.
About 10.30pm, the midwife is asking whether I want epidural when I only dilate 5-6cm. Was thinking another 5-6 hours more to go, I already "squeezed" my hubby hand until so pain already, so gave up. I used epidural in the end. It was a total relief, no pain after that but I shiver whenever there is contraction. I still can take a short nap after that.
Close to 3am, the midwife said I am ready to deliver, ask me start pushing. But my legs were so numb that I can feel anything. So wait again unti 5am, my gynae is here to deliver the baby. Seeing me with no energy to push, she used forcep to help to deliver baby. Finally end of the labour process. It's a long process, from 12noon till the next day 5am (17hours).
That's my labour journey. Although it's pain and long, but it's worth it.
Baby Darius is so cute.
wOOHOO congratz ya.... Muzt rest well
congrats to you Cheng!! a new addtional to your family!! eat well and rest well!!

usually how long w the epi lasts?
the epi is athestic drip.. can last long long ... but once remove the drip it will tk 6 to 8 hours to go off
I think it lasts about 6hours bah. I finished the epidural when I was able to deliver. When my gynae is stitching me, I start to have feeling on my numb legs. Haha, then she start to speed up in case I start to feel the pain.
oic.....only lower part of our body numb...do the gynae need to remove the stitching after like one week after delivery?
yup, they wont use those melt string cos scare will have infection then will be very mafan... but not pain one , ,,, only itchy!
No sure . So far she did not say need to remove the stitches . Next visit will be next month time.
