yes, can use baby bonus to offset the package.
I signed up with Cordlife coz they have a booth in Thomson Medical Center. If apply for FBI discount $450. They have 3 payment plan: annually, 10 yrs & 21 yrs. Can pay by Giro, credit card or baby bonus. Referral bonus is S$50 for both party.
yup, but cordlife have a contract for 21 years right?
ya. I signed up for 21 yrs. husband say might as well. More savings too. Think 4 me it's an investment coz I'm Thalessemia beta minor. Recommended for people like me.
oh I see.................
they do have an annual payment scheme too but i prefer to pay one lump sum & not bother about it till contract expire. Pay now while still have $$. Besides, this way I dont't get affected by inflation.
Thanx for sharing your opinions and thoughts in all the forums, it helps us alot in the decision makings. After i've made a reasearch, eventually my hubby n i choose to bank our baby's cord blood. because one of my church friends didn't bank nor get the donated matched cord blood for his son. His 5 years old son was suffering with leukimia last year, and he couldn't manage to see his 6 years birthday, as he passed away 2 months before his birthday. It's quite paintful though though when we whitness the love ones has to suffer and go early. If only there is an available matched stem cells for the treatment, the boy would still be surviving and slowly recover under the intensive treatment.
Well those phrases (below) have made us realise that how important is one time chance and we shouldn't take life or things for granted. my hubby and I have attended two talks from 2 privated cord blood bank, stemcord and cordlife. Both offers a very attractive price packages, but only one of them gives me an ease of assurance, which is cordlife. We have decided to choose cordlife, because they allow me to go to their lab and also whitness the process. It's more transparent than stemcord. I've heard and seen how they control the quality and the process of storing the cord blood and seperating the important cells to be saved. It's more clear and i've understood the prodecure. But for stemcord it's only by verbal, which may not be credible, because i can't whitness how is the conservation of the cord blood.
Mu hubby said cordlife has converted into the greenbook, which is the company has become profitable. So i dont't have to worry for the company to close down and what will they do to the cord blood that i've placed there. For stemcord, i'm not too sure, as there is a limited of info is provided.
So mummies, when it comes to one life chance, be wise and dont't waste it.
Pss.. Please pm me if you have an info which confinement nanny agency should i choose? what food should i eat for my 6-7 pregnancies, as i'm more sensitive and allergic to flour and rice, but i want to give my baby enough nutritions. Thanx..

Hai sorrie for the double entry at the same page..
cordlife has 3 plans - "annually" "10 years" and "21years". We choose 21 years, cos they said the price for the annual payment will increase in every 5 years. So we haved decided to take the 21 years plan, and after 21 years, i will let my baby to pay the prepayment by themselves. Thanx God, my company is very supportive towards the employees. So together with the baby bonus and my this year bonus, it's enough to cover the plan.
Pss.. Maybe you may try to ask for your bonus to be given earlier, so that it's enough to cover your maternity leave expenses..
i've finally signed up with cordlife last week since they were having an event.
we were debating whether to go private or public and went for the different talks and consulted my pediatrician and gyne about cordblood banking, we still decided to go private.
bottom line is for all those who bank their cordblood, nobody wants to use it. but we thought if we needed our baby's cordblood whether for a sibiling or for myself, i would be so grateful that i'll have access to it.
my number 1 concern was about the early clamping so the cord blood being taken away from my baby, my gyne told me that these days babies are so well nourished, they have too much blood in their body that results in jaundice, their liver is unable to process the substance (dont't remember the medical term) out of the body fast enough. in the older days, it's probably more important for the baby to get all the cordblood s/he can get.
but this is only 1 opinion from 1 gyne.......so best to check with your own. all the PDs we've met said the same thing, if you can afford it, keep it. especially if you have blood diseases in the family.
that said, if anyone wants a referral from cordlife, please pm me. this will give you $50 off your upfront fees and i'll get some shopping vouchers on my end....
extra money for baby diapers is always good!
