I think if we start comparing ourselves with other people we will only end up feeling miserable, cause it seems that we only see how good how good others are, but our situation is like worse than them.
But in actual reality, we dont't know what problems people have and we dont't know for sure if they are happy or not. So I think more important that we look at ourselves and count our blessings, then we will feel happy.
Of course in theory very easy to say, but if we keep reminding ourselves to only compare ourselves with ourselves, then we will be happier off.

Max renew 2 years.
What we did:
1. Renew my maid's passport at embassy -> less than $50, cant rmb exact
They will interview the maid & employer. Like ask the maid if she's well treated, happy to work for current employer, does she get her pay on time, who look after her family back in Indon, does she send money to them, do I allow her to go send money, etc etc. They will ask you to sign a contract too (about the pay increment).
You need 1 day to go down personally with the maid. Then another day (3 working days later) to go down to collect the passport.
2. Buy insurance.
This is hassle free. My agent send me the details. I read. Ok, she come to my house to fill up form, get signature (payment by credit card) and viola! It's done. Wait for agent to send us the policy number to proceed to next step.
3. Go online to renew www.mom.gov.sg with the employer's SingPass.
Quick and easy. I think need payment (not too sure cos my husband settled this part) via eNets.
Few days later, MOM send us a letter to go down and collect her new work permit

I just finished packing my storeroom. wah seh. Previously was so messy & take up so much space. Now we clear, did not throw much, I got half the storeroom back!
The embassy did ask her about this home leave thing. We went to renew her passport in late Jan 2010. Then when she told them that she already went for home leave, they very surprised and told her to work hard cos it's hard to find employer who trust her so much.
To go into the embassy, cannot anyhow dress. Must be decent.
My maid when in T-shirt and long pants with shoes.
I went in bermudas and polo t with sandals

To me I thought S$1K is alot to her and she will come back...But she forgo that S$1K...
Ting, I changed so many before I got her!
We expected some to be not so good, but we were prepared that if we got one who is not good, we will straightaway CHANGE. No hesitations, no '2nd chance'. Cos we need the maid to look after my boy alone, we cannot take chances.
I'm thankful for my current maid
We give her alot of priviledges as rewards and she knows that we recognise her efforts. I think that is most impt.
