Ain't they singaporean too

Hi, have to get this off my chest. ytd was with hubby and baby at BHG Bugis. after using the nursing room to nurse daughter, we proceed to the elevator to go to the first floor to go to liang seah st to meet friends for dinner.

As the elevator just left thus there is no one so we r standing beside the door(not blocking) with dear daughter in her stroller sleeping. then came 3 teenagers(gers in most pro 14 or 16) standing behind us. when the elevator going to reach one of them kept pushing me wanting to get in first. my hubby who saw that told them" sorry we r also going in can wait for a while(cos need to push stroller in , somemore elevator have not even reach yet."

in the elevator one of them say to the one who was being told"hey he scolded you ?" then she replied"aiya you knw singaporean, kiasu want to go in first." Wa, my hubby heard that hot , cos they r the one who want to rush in first. he scolded back" dont know who kiasu, keep pushing my wife wanting to rush in front to go in. yourself not singaporean is it." 3 of them stared at my hubby and of cos we stared them back . then comethe best pt, they got off at lvl 2 n one of them actually scolded softly but i heard "Bas****" CAN you IMAGINE THAT! if not becos im standing inside ,i will go st8 out n ask them,"who you scolding BAS****, BI***. they think i got baby i good to bully or like those 'chi xiang mother'?sorry, too bad IM NOT as im military trained, those who dont show respect will get it from me(in workplace.)nowadays the teenager REALLY CANNOT MAKE IT.

when i see or meet this kind of teenagers, i always remind myself to raise a well-mannered girl. its gonna be tough, but at least im aware.

those bunch you met. they dont't seemed to know what's right and wrong. they just wanna win. esp. by sayin the word bastard. totally unnecessary and immature.

mowadays some teenages are lik that. they thought by soclding such words, they 'gain' something, at least gain some attention i guess.. i think both you and your hubby has done the right thing. if for my hubby, i doubt he will ask those teenage to let us get into the lift 1st and i dont think he will agree with me confronting them, cos my character is almost same as you and your hubby's, cannot tahan ppl lik that.. haha..

Ya, teenagers nowadays, sorry to say this, but has no respects unlike our time. Ure rite, bringing up my daughter and son will be a tough one especially with these kind of ppl around them. Manners has always been my top priorty.

think i will b like you too haha will slap but think the society now we cant really do that only can reason with them tell them y this is wrong. whenever i c this kind of person, let it be parents(letting the child crying out like mad cos they cant get what they want;letting their child running wild), teenagers(dont even know what is basic courtesy), i nk sure i remind myself that I WILL NOT let my ger become like them.

since young we r taught be greet pple we know when we c them, ask the elders to eat before we start, say sorry when in wrong,say thank you when pple help you, all these r disappearing. think our govt also play a part, only edu on how impt that piece of cert is but not respect and courtesy.

my hubby very protective especially if daughter is out with us and also cos he is those beng type so you kn ya haha.... if the parents with them think he will scold them too.

Yup i agree.. we gotta teach them from young... if they r over the stage to learn is really too late... cause they will not listen anymore...

hw i wish my hubby is very protective towards us too haha..i think if the parents with them, those teenages wont said such things... actually i feel that most of the time, parents dont know how their kids behaves outside.

Were they in uniform?
Alot of scary kids now adays.
Not only teens.I m a teen too but not standing up for teens cos i know there are ltos who are seriously like rude out there.
I just try to keep a distance from them.
And let them scold if they want cos if i scold them back i will be stopping down to their level and it does not help me at all.
But not only teens.
Even primary sch kids.
When i went back to my primary sch, i was walking out of the hall and a p1 was walking in but he was looking behind.
I saw that he was not watching and stopped in my tracks and he continued walking and when he looked forward i was right infront of him and he went
:" wahlao eh.Shit you !"
My friends and i got a shocked.
Just P1 and already like that.
Now adays increasing no are like that.
A few years back my friends P1 buddy (girl) was scolding F words..

That is nothing but poor upbringing. I feel shame to be their parents/teachers.

If they are in their uniform, i would lodge a complain with their school/company.

But who knows their own parents are as rude as them?

Hmmm... actually whats the point in cursing/scolding them back? If we do that, we would have just proven ourselves to be as low and rude like them. And other witnessing adults would probably think our parents did not teach us good manners and appropriate ways to behave in public either.

They are teenagers and as an adult, aren't we suppose to be wiser?

Would we teach our children....if someone punches you, you punch the person back? And if the police were to be brought into the matter, both the puncher AND our child would land in jail. I think as modern parents, we gotta be smart about it. Guide our children to be better people and refrain from giving in to anger.

got once,
i was at yishun central roadside (outside northpoint).
im not blocking anyone or what.
then suddenly got few young girls and boys walk by. one of the girl knock on my shoulder, i didnt say anything or stare. but yet she turn back and shout at me said "stare what stare, knock on ppl dont know how to say sorry?".
i was like, what the hell. you knock on me, and yet you say i stare and want me to say sorry to you.

i straight scold her back said, "you blind or what? your friends also saw IS YOU knock to me, not i knock you."
then the friend of her trying to pull her back and keep saying sorry to me for what happened. but she just dont wanna leave and keep yelling like in id*ot.
end up im the one who walk away due to her shouting.

ya it's very upsetting to see this type of trend in the teens these days.

Parents really play a huge part, but i'm glad recently I met young parents teaching their kids to say "sorry" and "thank you". I hope the good manners trend is back and the kids will be trained again like we do.

that day went sim lim sq, we r in e lift i am carrying my 5wks gal in my pouch.
when the door open these 2 young ppl about 20+, rush in. i am already half way out, still one foot in, one foot out, i have to move aside to let them in 1st. I just stop there n look at them, cos i dont move they can't close the door. very angry, nearly knock my gal head again e side. (cos i am already big size n they still squeeze in) sigh.

I believe these ill-behaved youngsters were also a result of parents' fault. My gf told me once she was on the mrt, a young boy was taking up at least 2 or 3 seats by sprawling across the seats. My gf then took one of the seats when he later got up and walked away to his dad who was sitting across. As soon as my gf sat down, he quickly got up and wanted to get back his full 3 seats so that he can spread his body across (think his grandfather owns the mrt).

My gf was chissed off and said something like you still have other empty seats here what. The young chap was unhappy and complained to his dad. His father told him, "aiyah now you know how nasty Singaporeans are..and etc".

My gf almost fainted..

Maybe not cursing or scolding. Just a stern subtle repriminder at least these idiots know that you are not one to be fooled around with.

Whenever, i am out with my kids, if i happened to see young teens displaying inappropriate behaviour, i would immediately ask my kids, if such behaviour is ok or not ok. And if is not ok, i'll ask them, what should be the best way to react/behave.
