Nowadays, there are plenty of ways for a person to get their daily
intake of vitamins, proteins, and nutrients. You can just pop a pill, or stuff yourself with different “healthy” foods.
    So many choices out
there, which puts us in a dilemma when trying to make a decision
    about food.
Hence, the “Godly food” section is designed to help us make the right choices when it comes to food. Pomegranates are fruits that
grew on earth as well as in Paradise. ( stated in the Quran )
That should be enough evidence of their high status in the food chain.
This fantastic little fruit recently made its way back into the news
    after some spectacular clinical results.
    Pomegranates are one of the
few fruits where the juice is just as beneficial as the fruit or seeds.
The peel, which you can’t eat, contains the most antioxidants, and
they are released in abundance when the fruit is squeezed for

Compounds found only in pomegranates called punicalagins are shown to
benefit the heart and blood vessels. Punicalagins are the major component responsible for pomegranate’s antioxidant and health benefits. They not only lower cholesterol, but also lower blood
pressure and increase the speed at which heart blockages
    (atherosclerosis) melt away.

Recent medical research studied heart patients with severe carotid
artery blockages. They were given an ounce of pomegranate juice
each day for a year. Not only did study participants’ blood pressure
lower by over 12 percent, but there was a 30 percent reduction in
    atherosclerotic plaque.
Just as astounding, participants who did not
take the pomegranate juice saw their atherosclerotic plaque
    increase by 9 percent.
In other studies, potent antioxidant compounds found in
pomegranates have shown to reduce platelet aggregation and
naturally lower blood pressure, factors that prevent both heart
    attacks and strokes.

Not only are pomegranates good for your heart and blood vessels
but they have been shown to inhibit breast cancer, prostate cancer,
colon cancer, leukemia and to prevent vascular changes that promote tumor
    growth .

In test tubes, pomegranate extracts made from juice, rind, and oil
slow down the reproduction of cancer cells and may hasten their
Some extracts also help reduce blood supply to tumors,
starving them and making them smaller. Most studies have focused
on breast and prostate cancer cells.

Osteoarthritis -Flavonols (a kind of antioxidant) similar to the ones found in pomegranate fruit have been suggested as treatments for osteoarthritis.
Osteoarthritis happens when the cartilage in joints
wears down and causes pain and stiffness.
Researchers believe flavonols can help block inflammation that
contributes to the destruction of cartilage.
    In test tubes,
pomegranate extract blocked the production of an enzyme that
    destroys cartilage in the body.

The fruit is an also good source of antioxidant vitamin-C, provides
about 17% per 100 g of daily requirement. Consumption of fruits
rich in vitamin C helps the body develop resistance against
    infectious agents by boosting immunity.
Regular consumption of pomegranate has also been found to be
    effective diabetes, and lymphoma.

Further, it is an also good source of many vital B-complex groups of
vitamins such as pantothenic acid (vitamin B-5), folates, pyridoxine
and vitamin K, and minerals like calcium, copper, potassium, and
manganese, Eight ounces of pomegranate juice supplies about 10%
of your daily quota for potassium, a nutrient necessary for energy
production and keeping blood pressure in check.

    ** To make your own
juice, process arils in a blender until smooth, then strain. This way
you’ll also get vitamin C, since you’re not heating the juice. **

Digestive System- Pomegranate is rich source of soluble and
insoluble dietary fibers, providing about 4 g per 100 g (about 12% of
RDA), which aid in smooth digestive and bowel movements. The fruit
is suggested by nutritionists in the diet for weight reduction and
    cholesterol controlling programs.

Pomegranate juice benefits the intestinal system as a cancer-fighter and preventative. It also increases food metabolising enzyme production in the digestive tract. This makes pomegranate
juice an aid against recurring diarrhoea and constipation by helping
restore the natural balance of the intestinal tract.
Pomegranate juice also fights infections of the digestive system.
