Hope all of you are doing good! So happy to hear all the different gender of babies being revealed. Unfortunately mine is a shy one.. only show buttock to me and we waited like 15mins still no sign of anything!
Btw, the weather is pretty bad nowadays and ive been down with flu/cold for a week now... MS soo much better but now this sickness not helping with my appetite on food. Anyone knows if its ok to drink those effervescent Vitamin C? My gynae on leave and i wont be able to get the answer till end next week...
Hi dilys and huafen83,
Thanks!! This 2nd pregnancy is very tiring on me.... maybe with my active son, its so hard to find time to rest well.....
Just went for my 16 week scan last sat, doc says most likely a boy cos could see something sticking out.. Actually I have always like boys and i really dont bother about the gender of this 2nd child, but I could see the disappointment in my hubby's eyes... As he grew up in an all boys family, I could understand he would want a girl... He also felt that it would be better for my first child's upbringing, so my son will know about both gender....
I totaly understand his concerns but I felt rather depressed... He has been a wonderful father who wakes up in the middle of the nite to feed and change my son, he can do whatever i can do, bath, feed, play, educate, etc etc...I suddenly felt so empty after knowing his disappointment....
I have signed up for the AXA insurance after comparing it with Prudential. The benefits for AXA are more. I think its good for all mums to buy this insurance as all pregnancy is a risk, you really dont know what will happen.
I decided to buy this policy as my first child(now 2 yr old) has not passed his left ear's hearing test till now. 2 weeks after he was born, he was hospitalised in ICU as he was not able to swallow his milk. He would vomit out all everything after drinking milk. When he was hospitalised, he was actually dehydrated and we didn't even know. He had to go for X-ray to see what happened. The scan showed that his spincta was not matured yet, it would take him about 6 mths for the spincta to mature, so he had to take thicker milk.
All expenses from the hospitalisation really cost us a bomb, we were unprepared mentally, physically, emotionally and financially. I nearly went into depression and during the few days when he was hospitalised, i didn't do a good confinement, my breast milk was reduced tremendously as I was too depressed.
I really do not want to go thru such pressure again and I urged all mums to get protected. Eventually, the policy will be transferred to your child, so it does not make any difference to get it now. The only difference is they will need to see your child's medical records after they are born. If you were to get it now, it will be based on the mother's health conditions during this pregnancy.
Btw, I am not an insurance agent..

Thanks for your encouragement, yea, health is most impt to me..... My son has to go for diagnostic test when he is about 3-4 years old. He is a happy boy, the left impairment has not affected his hearing..... we are quite prepared for the worst, as long as he is happy, everything else dont matter! N most importantly, he is always our precious son, we'll love him despite anything... I'm sure all mummies feel this way too.... Let's all jia you!!
Thanks for your advise. Can you let me know what are the benefits that AXA has over prudential. I already met up with AXA agent, planning to meet prudential one. But if AXA is better then I can save my time n sign up with AXA.
Ya, insurance is always like that. If we need it, it's really useful. If we dont, then it's really like money spent but buying nothing. I think I will buy eventually, but just dont know which company to buy from.
Sorry to know that your number one went thru so much despite his tender age. I can imagine the stress level that you undergo too. I'm glad that now is all behind n may your son b always happy.
I think most singaporeans now only want 2 kids at most. So, almost all of them will hope to have a boy n a girl.. So that they can get to experience taking care of both a boy (to help carry on the family line) n a girl (to experience dolling up daughter n to experience the "gentle" side from their kids. But how many can really decide their gender?
My hubby is only son n I'm now having a boy. Frankly I felt relief because I dont want the line to die at my hands. I wish I'm not so traditional but sometimes it's the pressure that's within me.
dont feel sad.. Everyone got their own preferences. Anything that we can't decide, just dont fret over it. Really no point. See, your boy can reuse the toys n clothes from his bro.. It's quite good what.. n the boys can play basketball n soccer together..
Stay upbeat n happy!!
Hi Polo Polo,
I'm a first time mummy and just went for the scan last saturday but baby was shy so was unable to c the gender thus have to wait for next month's detailed scan. However, like everyone says, most importantlt is baby to b healthy. So stay happy! Cheers!
Nowadays .. The society change so much (some people doesn't bother about carry on the family line).. As long as the kids grow up to be filial most important. Everyone now only Pray that kids dont't grow up end up throwing us into old folk home when we are old hahaha...
Jofeny.. Thou" my family doesn't mind the gender of my baby.. But I know where your pressure coming from ..
Regarding the insurance benefits, I'll need to go home to search for the brochures for the actual details, will let you know asap!!
Yes, I totaly agree with you that the boys can play together and I dont have to spend on clothes and toys anymore as everything can be reused. I dont have pressure to give birth to boys so I wun understand the pressure of those mummies whose hubbies are only child/son....
I think I'm just affected by my hubby..... I'm good actually.... n i love boys cos I'm afraid of girls being very 'sai nai'.... hahahaha!!!
Hi polo polo, understand how you feel. Most impt it's baby health. you can try 3rd one if financially manageable. I also have a son . When my Gynae told me my no 2 may be a boy. I think I show my disappointed face out n my Gynae immediately console me telling me that baby is healthy n active n growing well. After he says these I never think much of the gender . So I think what most impt is baby health. Even though now I still got abit hope that may be a gal. Hehe.
Try to talk to him n tell him his expression affected you.. Sometimes I can understand how insensitive those man are! .. Strong mummy needs to Jia you!!
