Hi meltie, my baby was like that. Ya, like what felicity said, Somehow, once they are upright position/tummy down on you, it makes them more comfortable and they burp quite immediately if they have lots of air in them and fart more too. Try applying the ruyi oil on their tummy, feet and behind their leg, from knee to feet, downwards. It helps to get rid of air. Pharmacy sells colic drops. Wanted to get for my baby, but not sure safe. So, decide to wait for her one month pediatrician checkup to get from the pediatrician the colic drops.
Yes, Reiann.. We are just the baby bearing machine. I wanted to shout back so badly, but, i think i did make a statement that kids nowsaday is really different and every child is different then give my super black face. mayb, that's why today hav no breakfast and lunch. If she's crying, definitely have to pick her up. Think have to plan properly if want 2nd one coz in law keeps saying after 2 years, must have 2nd one, dont't stop at one. Rodorsany, in laws were saying that baby still small, bring out no good. Coz mother and baby still recovering. But, the problem is I dont't see myself recovering even staying at home with no lunch and doing all sort of other chores to take care of baby. It just doesn't make sense not to be able to make decision for my own child.
Taking care of a child is really very tough for a first time mom. Really hate to handle all the unnecessary stress, ESP when hubby dont't really want to talk to his mum, only keep asking me to tahan, even though he knows is unreasonable.
Felicity, at least your mother in law is helping out quite a bit. Envy .. But, I know your father in law is the one that gives you headache.
Meltie.. you're not alone.. my boy is also like that for several nights.. everything we tried also in Vail..we tried everything..just hang on there..things will get better when they grow up...
Erlina, your mother in law sounds horrible.. every baby is an individual, every baby is different .. How can compare? And onli go out after 3mths, she must be kidding.. dont care her.. As long as you are confident bringing baby out, just go..
Meltie, *hugs* My baby these 2 days too.. Keep bringing up a lot of milk.. She dont use to be like that.. Been drinking lesser too and poo lesser.. Sighz.. I tink she has too much wind in tummy too but I hav oredi used ruyi oil.. initially I thought mayb cos I been feeding her ebm, more wind.. cos 30min after I put her down, she will cry and wen I pick her up, she will puke all over me.. Sighz.. So I tried latching more todae.. And the same happens.. I oredi tried holding her upright longer and putting her on her tummy on me.. But she still pukes milk after we sit up.. Even if I manage to burp her, she will still bring up milk later, sometimes the milk comes up with the burp.. Sighz.. I hope this phase ends soon! Hoping she will drink as much as usual and poo as much as usual too soon!
Erlina: my mother in law also said similar thing of cant bring baby out before 3mth, she even said confinement must do 2mth and baby full moon must be after 2mth. I was damn mad at her. I asked husband to talk to her, in the end, baby full moon is on 1.5mth due to Hari raya haji long weekend..
Btw today my baby poo is green color, heard from ppl it means baby was surprised.. Any idea how to prevent it? She had been quite cranky, just managed to coax her to sleep after 1.5hr..
Sigh.. i am quite certain its colic... fits all symptoms.. inconsolable crying for hours... my baby cried from 6plus to 12mn.. fed her and she stopped for awhile till 1plus put her down for 15mins and at 2.05am she is wailing at the top of her voice again... can't stop her from crying.. Hubby n i can't sleep... alreaady leep applyingbruyi oil already... :/ she's still in pain... pray that she can find some rest soon... coz i'm running on reserves ...
Erlina.. Just b firm.. I feel sometimes go out just a short walk at e mall... Both mommy n baby relax... Use carrier... Stroller unlesd your husband gg with you
Meltie... Hang in there... Is your baby 1 month?? I feel everything will b stablise after 1mth.. dont fret!
Btw I went to see my gynea today... He mention womb shrunk back ... Guess due to bf.. Sad thing he not pro in giving meds for bf.. He says go natural...
I ate almonds n had soy milk... That is my most natural milk booster.... Will try harder.... At least now 60% breast milk... Only 40% fm... Wonder when will i have more breast milk...
Thanks mummies for your advice and encouragement... i'm soo tired.. trying to console baby w my breast for past few hours.. she fed hourly from 2plus till now.. just now at 3plus she wailed again, vomitted alot of milk.... sigh... just fed her again.. super tired, almost lost grip of her while trying to burp her.. just can't get her to burp... zzz
My baby coming 1 month this tuesday .. really hope this colic is just temporary for today... pray that tomorrow will be better....zzz
Hi mummies, after my last post. Suddenly, saw baby struggling in her sleep, quickly carried her up. She can't breathe properly and can't cry out. In the end, bring her in upright position and she burped a few times and something came out of her mouth. 2 big pieces of nose dug and after that she was able to cry out loud. Scare us. Though we are glad she's ok, she's super awake and that kept me from 12am till 5am. Just have to try to coax her to sleep through rocking, if not, she will wail. After asleep for an hour, she cried for milk. Just fed and finally asleep. Whole night. Though she's sleeping, still sorry she might choke and I can't sleep well. Plus she has lot of gas in her tummy. Guess I am gg to get the colic drop and change my milk bottle. Think pigeon wide neck is causing lots of gases.
Oh ya, my mother in law did mention that if shit is green, means they were in shock. And seems true, coz my baby had green poo when she had her blood test, thunder scare and one time was when she had nightmare. However, if you search online, they describe it as child having colic and drinking too much foremilk.
Anyway, with regards to mother in law, still an art to deal with it, trying not to make hubby in a difficult situation as well. Think most ppl face problems with mother in law, mainly we are not brought up by them.
Green poop - especially foamy ones - sign of Fore and hind milk imbalance. Allow baby to latch only one breast - that is, block feeding. Lots of articles on this online. Good luck.
Meltie: I'm really sorry to hear. My baby has done that several times, usually at night. It's usually gas ( trying to poop, straining, etc) and latching on helps the gas pass. But add to that is also reflux, and then before you know it it's hunger again. So my night time feelings become all melded together in a long session of crying, feeding, crying, hushing her etc. but it's not as long as yours.. So I feel for you. Try pumping her legs, like bicycling them- while making sure she doesn't spit! I also find putting her in my carrier helps as she's in a squatting position. She farts and poops that way. Also, try moving her in various positions. dont't just sit there with her. Bring her upright, burp her over shoulder, do the colic hold, put her face down on chest, then on cot, etc. good luck you. Poor thing!!
If I pump out ebm, any idea how to solve the imbalance of fore and hinksmilk?
Linl: how much ebm do you pump out of one breast in each session? If there is sufficient, eg 3oz per breast, then what you can do is pump out a bit first on both breasts. What I do is pump one breast while I put a breast milk collection cup (I use Avent breast shield with cups. Milk savers are also a possibility. Just to collect and throw the very first fore milk). Then I throw. Then I latch my baby on. It's also to help with over active letdown. But I only do this for first feed in the morning when my breasts are engorged. Later in the day when my baby latches, after let down begins, she usually breaks latch and pause for a bit. I'll just catch the milk dripping out on a towel and then relatch her. That way, she won't sputter and choke, an aalso not get too much of my
My baby had greenish foamy poop too, once in a while. Lasts about a day. Usually it coincides with lots of gas pain for her so I'm going to try to avoid too much foremilkfor her..
I suppose you can pump and dump for the first 1 minute. Then the real collection of milk starts after. That way, you get richer hindmilk. Also, make sure you pump even after flow is slow. I find that my baby lathing on is most efficient in getting the hindmilk out. With pump, no milk seems to come out after 5-6 mins but with baby, after she stops latching after like 10 plus even 20 mins,, there's still milk when I squeeze my nipples a bit.
My manduca carrier has arrived todae! So happy and immediately tried out with baby.. She puked inside -_-" and then screamed bloody murder.. Scare me .. Quickly sat down and check everything, seems ok except her feet.. Supposed to be in squatting position right? But she seems a little uncomfortable.. Tried a second time and she fussed a little before settling down.. It really feels much better than those carriers that let baby legs dangle! But I'm still a little concerned about her legs.. Squatting position means her legs are spread but bent at the knees right? Then her head is supposedly resting on our chest? Very scared she will suffocate.. Haha..
Hi Lingz: yes baby is in froggy style. So if you are carrying baby without carrier, just with your hands and leaning baby against you, her legs cannot really hug /straddle you do they're bent right? While you're supporting her buttocks. same for Manduca. As long as her butt is lower than the knees once she's in the carrier, it's ok. And head can lean back against carrier or on your chest.
My baby seems to always got startled by sudden sound and woke up from his sleep. We already keep day time noisy with tv or radio sounds. But doesn't seems to help ... Any mummy also experience this ? My parent in law said baby is timid?
I bought ergo today cos im annoyed with my old carrier (combi) lol! Still figuring out the techniques to use this ergo!
Woo... Seems like everyone got their new carrier... My husband seems hesitant... sigh
Ahwang did you swaddle baby?
ahwang: it really depends on which stage of sleep your baby is in. if she's in the light sleep stage - which a baby is in many, many times during a nap - she can be eaisly startled out of her sleep. but if she's in deep sleep, it's no problem. also, is she swaddled? I find swaddling helps a lot!
I think by now our babies must be growing, and settling into a more comfortable routine!!
all you mommies: what's the schedule for your baby nowadays?
also, anybody here exclusively breast feeding baby?
and Lingz: are you using the infant insert thing in the manduca? also, extended the zip? so how, did your baby like it? I even feel like getting a second one for my husband, so we can take turns carrying the baby but dont't have to readjust the manduca for his size! not that the baby is heavy.. with the manduca it's not heavy at all.
Anyone has an ergo? Is it ok not to use infant insert? Cos it says infant insert between 7-12lbs and my baby now is more than 12 lbs but the head of course isnt strong yet so idk if i need insert or not.. Scared might be too small but if no insert to support i cannot do hands free for both hands..
Hello mummies, I do express milk quite frequently now due to nipple trauma. Am wondering how many ounces of EBM is enough for a 6-7 week old infant?
Reiann, me! *hands up* exclusive latching now.. But next week I'm gg out for a while so mother in law will bottle feed her w ebm.. Go back see my teenage babies on their last day of school..
My routine is really in the day almost every hour latch... She's a milk monster still... Hardly sleeps in the day. Usually 8 to 10 is when she's cranky and i'll coax her to sleep... I'll latch her, carry her walk around, rock her gently side to side, sing to her, etc.. Nonstop for close to 2 hours till my arms want to break n she finally sleeps.. It just happened.. She finally in cot now. Every night when I managed to put her down in cot without her waking up (sometimes she does n I have to start all over again) I feel a sense of accomplishment!
then she sometimes wake up every 2-3 hours but usually she wakes up around 5am... Then after that feed I will put her next to me to sleep till morning, after morning latch n a bit of play, I will bring her out to say good morning to pils n mother in law will bathe her... And so the day goes again w hourly latching n so on...
In the day very tiring cos she hardly sleep n nap for like 30 min only if she does so I can't really get things done :/ I wanna pack my old clothes etc one... When I just came back from confinement she slept thru 3 hours in afternoons n I could sort out my clothes... Cos wardrobe and spare room too messy w my clothes n was picking out maternity clothes n work clothes which I won't be wearing for a while n old clothes that I want to discard or giveaway... Now wanna continue packing the spare room (which is like a store room now) so we can eventually convert to her room but no time...
Lizzy my baby is around 5kg n I use infant insert cos also to support her neck.
