I just happen so to read an article from young parents and indeed so there are some professionals actually advise to start feeding solid at 4mths same few reasons as what Dr ang suggested. We Dr ang is a well known pediatrician, I believe she must have based on the child development and advise accordingly. Of course is up to the mummy to see whether the baby is uncomfortable a not. As no one knows better than the mum herself! My boy 3mths plus love to watch us eat. Stare with curiosity.
Purpur, I quit my job too.. Staying at home at least for the next year.. Nobody to help and I probably wouldn't trust foreign nannies or maids anyway.. Hahaha! Plus hubby keeps reminding me that he wants second one next year so I might be staying home for a while. Bleeeaaah.
Luckily I still have an online business which I can operate from home but it does get quite depressing sometimes doesn't it? When you're facing four walls everyday. Hahaha! It feels like everybody is back on track moving forward but you're kinda just... Stuck. Lol..
Lizzy! Sophie's tummy seems to be blocking her way when she tries to turn too. -.- and for my girl, she actually turns easier on a softer bed! Cause we tried it at a friend's place. Our bed is really hard and she gets frustrated after a while. Lol.
my boy has been turning into his side way since sunday, and i'm waiting for him to flip......He basically turn in everywhere he is, in his yao lan, rocker and bed.....
He seems not gaining much weight ever since i stopped breast milk after my infection....sigh. Maybe is my genes, my kids tends to be in the smaller size. My girl only weighs 10kg++ in her 2 years old, but then her height is on the 90th percentile.
time flies...my boy will be 4months in next week., i'm going to start work next monday
Ok piglim. Fair enough but I doubt babies get choosy e food if you introduce slowly. Choose foods that are naturally sweet. And eat egg yolk = brainier???? Hahaha!
Avocado would definitely be my baby first food. Highly nutritional n easy to make. No cooking required, just mashed n thin it with breast milk or fm to let baby get used to some familiar taste. Oh ya does it mean we have to start washing their tongue too once they start solid ? I have not't wash my baby tongue at all so far.
Btw, any mummies whose baby doesn't sleep thru at nit and has started working ? Manageable ? My baby still wakes up several times at night n takes a while to soothe back to sleep. Wonder how to cope when back at work, heard it takes a while to overcome and get used to fatigue ?
Also any mummies have already sent their baby to infant care ? Do you thus have to delay bedtime ? my boy currently slps about 7pm, was thinking that might have to extend his bedtime to 10pm. As my mother in law will help to bring boy back from infant care. And by then we reach mother in law house and finish dinner and bring boy home already about 9plus. Put him to bed about 10pm sounds achievable. Also would want to have some time with him when we came back from work. Also did infant care makes baby nighttime sleeping pattern worse ? As heard baby might not nap well in the day n got overtired at night resulting in even more nightwakings. My night times are already bad, cant imagine if it got worse after infantcare.
My baby schedule was totally messed up last night.. Bed time is usually 9pm for her and I will change her diapers at 11plus and dream feed her and she usually can last till 5plus or 6 am.. But yesterday she refused to sleep and keep wanting to play.. So decided to change her diaper first and tried to pat her to sleep at 10pm.. She refused to and seems to be rooting.. Since her last feed was at 8pm I decided to just latch her and ditch the dream feed.. Finally she slept.. But woke up at 2am, then 4am and then 530am wanting milk! Argh! Even though I latched her lying down I can't sleep cos she kept unlatching by herself and wailed wen she realised my boob is not in her mouth.. So gotta keep stuffing it back in.. Super zombified this morning! I hope she dont pull the same stunt tonight.. I desperately need to sleep.. It really is not easy with a baby esp after gg back to work.. Wonder wen will I get used to the fatigue..
your babies flipped so early! mine still dont want to flip! she dont even wanna turn sideways.. she is either on her back or wanna be carried.. sighz.. Shall give her more tummy time this weekend, hopefully it will force her to flip..
It's not easy managing work with a baby at home. My boy still wakes up for night feeds and his timing is unpredictable. Sometimes once, sometimes twice. Good thing about him is he falls asleep quite easily while feeding. I always hope he wakes at around 6 so that I can latch him before going for work at 6.40am... It's quite difficult to slot in time to pump in school.. So imagine going to class with engorged breasts after 9 hours without pumping and still pretend everything's alright.. -_-
Ahwang! Be careful when you start with avocado.. pediatrician would advise introducing something easier on the tummy like apples or pears.. Cause my boss's son, who is 7months old now, his mummy started giving him
Advocado, and I'm not sure exactly what went wrong, maybe it was too thick or overfed, but the baby had to be hospitalized and they had to pump his stomach. :/
Camcam oh serious, I thought avocado is the best thanks for that ! Cld it b other food ? I know we have to introduce slowly one kind of food for a few days to ensure no allergy, so we know.which culprit
Mums: should go get the book on baby's first food. Lots of recipes and instructs how to slowly introduce first food, with a plan and schedule. I'm out now but when home will get the book out and post the title here. Looks good.
Ahwang- when you sending baby to infant care? My is starting next Tuesday. Your schedule sounds plausible but just have to see how it works.. I also have to change schedule once I start infant care and work. Would have to do 6,10, 2, 6, 10 timing.. Hopefully
Oh reiann, same here. Sending him in next Tue! Fri gg down meet the staff nurse n teachers to see what to prepare for him. In fact these few days I'm training him for a later bedtime. And my nighttime was bad, gives me a few nightwakes . Omg! When my little monster will sleep thru.
Might help you :-)
and Camcam maybe your boss kid got latex issues.. Thats why reacted to avocado
Cam and wang, my friend started with banana 1st, soft and full of vitamins.. In fact she mixed the banana with some breast milk or fm to ease the transition..
I may try that when I observe my belle is ready
This can be so exciting... The next milestone
yup keatbear, that's the way to go. also, grind rice (in blender or blitzer), boil it with water, then mix with breast milk (or FM), and feed. that's the recommended first food cos it's bland.
the book I have is 'The Top 100 baby food recipes". really good book.
Reiann: do you mean grind rice become powder form ? N boil with water to make it thicker n mix w milk n feed baby using bottle?
Can we buy the grinded rice powder in spore?
Last time I saw my mum did that for my younger bro to thicken his milk as he drank very little, she bought rice powder from market n double boil it n put in flask, she will then pour portion of it to make milk n fed my bro..
i remember did saw someone order tingkat in this thread but couldn't find. Can someone recomend which 1 is good, does the food serve in microwave container or tiffin? Wants to order for dinner start next week, coz i start work.
Hi I order from Ronnie kitchen, serve in microwave container. For 1 pax is 145 for 20 days lunch comes in 3 dishes. 1 soup n rice. Food is good, portion I feel quite generous.
but i dont have microwave at home, difficult to heat up with that. Thought to order from those serve in tiffin, and would only want to try 10days. Coz 20days = 4weeks, think will be very sian after 2weeks.
I'm also thinking of ordering tingkat for dinner.. Currently the arrangement is hubby go mother in law house eat and da bao back for me and meet me at nanny's to pick baby up.. But past few days hubby find it a struggle to knock off on e dot, so he had to fetch us first before gg back to mother in law house to da bao and then come home again.. Super waste petrol and time.. So we now exploring tingkat.. ahwang, your Ronnie kitchen reviews look good.. maybe I will discuss with hubby tonight..
yeoymp, actually most of the caterers have trial that you can try.. I just check out Ronnie kitchen, they have 5 day trial.. others like neo garden serve in Tiffin containers with 10 day trial period.. but I dont know neo garden good anot.. haha.. need to do sme research too..
another good one I heard is hilltop.. they also serve in Tiffin containers.. and have 20/10/5 day terms.. oh but they do say Tiffin containers can't b placed over direct heat.. Then how are you gonna heat up e food?
i checked neo garden website, 10days trial only served in microwave container.
I thought of heat up the food using gas, meaning i place the tiffin (metal type) in the wok and heat. Should be ok right? just like we steam rice and fish.
Hiltop i tried before, ok not so bad....portion very big especially the rice 1 pack can share by 2 persons.
hmm.. I suppose shld b ok just that the metal container would b pretty hot so gotta be careful..
seems like hilltop not too bad too.. then y aren't you going back to hilltop this time round? wanted to try something new?
ya, want to try other and see how.
Review on neo garden not so good , maybe i will try empire coz their food serve in tiffin carrier .....10days trial about $110 for 2pax.
