Hi Pretty mummies,
My first time here. Congrats on all your pregnancy I read thru all the threads. Found that you ladies are so friendly. So I decided to join in. Hope you ladies dont't mind.
Anyway. I would like to ask for your opinions. Like you ladies I am also expecting my boy on 14jan. So I want to start preparing to buy things can clean up. Problem is that I'm staying with my mother in law. I said I want a playpen. She says no to it. She told me and my hus, let baby sleep on bed with us will do. No need to spend extra money and space for that playpen. But I think that for baby to sleep on the bed with us is going to be good for the baby. How? What should I do? Can you ladies help me? Give me some advice on what should I do?
Hi Akson, I'm staying with mother in law too.. What your hubby opinion? My hubby alway say you can hear what elderly say, dont't argue or explain much. To follow is our decision coz we bringing kid up ourselves. If it's something I can do I will try follow. Like mother in law say baby wear white is enf n my mum n I like colors for baby. So I will buy a bit of both to please all..
My hus only say that if I think that it's best for baby. Then go ahead. But I know by doing so I will only cause him into a good nagging session by my mother in law. I am trying to find supports to prove my mother in law wrong about baby sleeping with us on bed.
Hi Aksoh, congrates keke.
Well for my case my #1 did sleep with my husband n me as I was bf then and hate the idea to walk to carry the baby during middle of the nite.
1 way to convince your mother in law is to ask your husband to do the talking. Afterall they are mother and son. haha. well you must give alot of supporting proof that playpen is good. 1 is their mattress is better for baby development (but this pt old ppl sure shoot you back) another reason is when baby grow bigger and everyone busy can put him inside playpen to be safe. try this reason ..or you can said you two sleeping will turn left n right scare hurt baby.
Hi, Would like to know how does d maternity works? We get 16 weeks which should be calculated in working days; 16x5 days=80days which is not incl weekends n PH? Is there any rules where we need to take partial of d leave before delivery? Pls enlighten me on how this work best. Thanks!
10 boys vs 8 girls
AprGal: count by working days~~ so total only 80 days.
ph not inclusive in the 80 days
well depend on company if they allow you to take partial anot. but shouldnt be a problem. you may want to check with your HR
for my case i will work till delivery day. then take 12 week last 4 weeks on and off till my boy turn 1 haha best plan i feel.. keke
Asphere: I love the second reason of yours. But before I even argue. Mother always knows thee kids best. My mother in law know that my hus will toss and turn when sleep. So she make the plan of my his sleep on sofa bed. And me and baby will sleep on bed. That's why it's making me anxious. I dont't think I will want to shop with a big belly. So I want to act on things faster.
alamak.. but husband need to work so need to sleep on bed. if not he wont have enough energy at work. but most imptly what you husband said? most mother in law will give in if the son disagree with her. but of coz the son must voice out .. if diam diam then abit difficult.
I am going to shop fast too. coz my boy pressing on my nerves . start to have difficulty walking..
the first 8 weeks is compulsory. they dont count the number of working days. the day you started on leave ( be it is annual leave or saturday/sunday or the day you admit to deliver ), is counted as day 1. so if you deliver on a sat, that marks day 1 of your maternity no matter if you work on sat or not. so that 8 weeks starts from there. use the calender and count 8 full weeks. you should return to work on a sunday ( @ the end of the 8 weeks , provided if you are working on sunday ). else, would be monday.
on the first 8 weeks, even if there's PH in between, too bad, its a compulsory 8 weeks, PH all inclusive, you are unable to claim any addition off days or in-lieu.
for the balance 8 weeks...
if you resume on that following monday and decide to take leave on and off, then you will need to count the number of working days. if you are on a 5-days week, so you will use 5days x balance 8 weeks, which is 40 working days. so it works like your annual leave. day by day deduct.
if you decided not to claim all the 8 weeks one shot with the 1st 8 weeks, you have to count your days properly. if you clear all at 1 shot, any PH in between this 8 weeks, TOO BAD, all eaten up as it will be counted like your first 8 weeks.
however, if you didnt clear all at 1 shot, n decided to clear day by day type, any PH in between you dont need to work mar.. so considered as you gained the PH! =)
hope its clear =)
Delivered my girl on 03 Feb 2011 & my boy on 03 Jan 2013 =)
My hus is the youngest at home. So my mother in law tends to dont't really bother about him. And this is going to be her 6th grandchild. So she bound to argue with me saying that all the other 5 also sleep on bed. She is really a hard nut to crack.
I dont't want to drag on buying stuffs for my boy. Cause I'm getting more and more tired easily. Plus need to wash and clean up the items bought is going to be another challenge for me. Cause i cannot squat, my boy will kick non stop But then i need to wait for my sister in law to move to her place. Her place is renovating. So my room is occupy with her things. So I'm really in a huge dilemma on what should I do first.
Gem2505: i guess my company is still ok for the maternity leave as they count by working day only.
Aksoh: your husband and you dont intend to get own flat? your mother in law doing the confinement for you? since baby going to born soon i guess your room needs to be clean and not packed with many stuffs esp not your. i guess maybe should start to buy those baby needed items bah.. its your baby after all you and your husband should take charge. talk to your husband tell him need to prepare the space for baby and see what he said. since your mother in law dont bother him then maybe your husband should take charge and let his mom knows that you all need to get the room ready for the baby and what you all going to get..
Welcome Aksoh... dont get too stress up. Work it out with your hub.
do you all think we can attend funeral ? those not close, of coz dont need to go.
but what if its your grandma? my grandma is kinda old, almost 90. and she's admitted to hospital.
doctor say now is "waiting for the time".. im afraid she wont be able to pull till i deliver next year.
apparently, the doc say her kidney mulfunctioned and unable to pass her urine out therefore the toxin all inside her now.
n, for goodness sake, my other relatives went to qiu qian and flip poker, say the "results for both" is negative so.. say dont let my grandma go n wash her kidney. but like wth? its not medically proven all these shit. im pretty pissed off but there's nothing i can do.
Delivered my girl on 03 Feb 2011 & my boy on 03 Jan 2013 =)
Thanks Gem2505, tats what I found out from MOM too but thought mayb I should double check my understanding. Seems a bit not worth it since PH is included! Am planning to take 12weeks straight then 4weeks on off so that I have max time with baby before sending to nanny. Wondering if there is better way on tis? Probably mine with clash with cny or this PH in May.
Gem2505: if not close dont go. if like you said grandmother yes must go. but some said use red string and tie chopsticks and tied around tummy. when i had my #1 my grandma pass away although alot of ppl ask me dont attend but i did coz my grandma mah.. then i tied the red string and chopsticks ..
Lols my husband also say no need buy stroller as he's willing.to carry(refer from earlier post). Planning to shop when I'm in 7/8 mnth at either Baby Kingdom or Baby hyperstore at Ubi. Im only at my 5 months now yet i.feel like 7 mnths already. Waddling like a penguin. Hehehe.
Anyway with regards to the low BP, if you feel giddy you tend.to have low BP but if that is your baseline then it should be ok. Mine have been 90 plus all along and my pulse is even in the 100plus range whereby normal adult is 60-90. And I know.this cause well, I'm a nurse.
Ermm anyone got experience itchiness down there?
wow must be tough to have a resilient mother in law. Best option - move out!
Wanted to ask everyone - did you manage to find a confinement lady since our babies are gonna be born just before CNY? I didn't realise the charge rate is SO expensive...!
Think most of us are not getting a confinement lady too ex..
