feel weird if you have GDM y the doc not ask you monitor at home? I raised concern to doc worried baby small as I not gaining weight but they reassure that with GDM baby will tend to be big. The growth scan at 31 weeks shows baby at normal range. Feel that important to monitor your blood sugar level as very high possibility that baby will gain weight in later stage.
ya, we need to total off sugar from our diet n keep on eye on oily food as well. Oily food tend to digest slower mean the sugar level will at high level until fully digest. As well as starchy vegetables like carrot, potato, sweet corn, yam, tapioca, pumpkin, sweet potato, lotus root, turnip, water chestnut & radish. Limit to serving 2-3 tablespoons a meal.
for protein, about 100g for lunch n dinner (each). Equivalent to 1 palm size of meat, fish or chicken/ 1 chicken drumstick/ 1 medium fish/ 6 medium prawns
haha..Hello!! same day ar?? oh ya I forget about the bumper ==! then I dont think I will buy blanket then hehe
Hi mummies, I was shopping for front buttons nightgowns for d hospital stay and I found this shop in clementi central selling it at only $9..
If you r keen, can go there take a look.
It's getting more challenging to sleep at night w the big kicks from the baby. Mine is active and she's not getting enough space in my tummy already. Hang in there sep mummies! !
I already have 5 blankets for baby haha. Couldn't help buying. 2 was from my Bangkok trip, one during the matenity fair and 2 more I crocheted myself.
I actually enjoy the kicks from baby and makes me sleep through the night haha. She squirms a lot a lot. But now I'm waking up once a night to go to the toilet cos baby is getting bigger and less space for bladder.
kcws: I know Mark Anothony (available at Watsons) has dry shampoo too.
By the way, my experienced mummy friend told me, not necessary to cut. Infact with long hair, tie it into plaits or two pony tails, or bun it up, it is more cooling than having hair ends touching our ears/ neck. I am not cutting.

Ladies, do we need to buy maternity pads? If so, which type did you get? And do babies need to brush their teeth? What do we need to prepare for the confinement nanny?
Have any of you read any parenting books? I'm getting stressed that I dont't know anything! Argh!
raoow: my friend recommend me the pink pack from Kotex for paternity pads. But I have yet to check it out. I believe it is the tie-string kind.
I also saw some brush teeth/gum/tongue accessories from Kiddy Palace. It is like a rubber slipped into one of our fingers which will do the brushing inside baby's mouth. But I think abit too early to use it on newborn? Will prolly start using it when baby takes in soft food other than milk.
dont't worry too much on parenting, our parents and in-laws, plus experienced friends are prolly our teachers. Otherwise, can also attend some parenting talks. If books are necessary, I believe library has it? I do saw a few at Times Bookstore. Interesting reading.
faithmummy: those pyjamas you saw at Chinatown are opened from front buttons right? I am looking for some for breastfeeding. 2 for $15 sounds a good deal!
Babies normally no teeth yet, but when they're bathing you can wipe their gums and tongue with wash cloth or a wet wipe specially for baby mouths.
I read a few parenting books but I think generally very brief. If you have a confinement lady coming then you can learn everything from her, dont't worry so much!
for confinement lady make sure she has a place to sleep. Mattress, blanket, pillow, bedsheets etc. you should also prepare your dried Longans and dates for urs drink, herbs for your bath. Food wise she can do the shoppin for you or your hubby go and buy for her to cook.
I have the loop type from Kotex.. For Thomson Medical Center, they provide this type but chargeable at sgd10 per pack, so it's better to prepare it ursf.
