TCM or Gynae

Hi,

I have been seeking Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) while TTC some months back. Well, I'm tested pregnant now and now I'm in dilemma.
Should I continue with my TCM treatment or seek western treatment by looking for gynae? Will chinese herbs conflict with the supplements from gynae?

My friend is recommending Thomson Medical Dr Cheng LC.

Hope to hear some response soon.

regards, fate 963.

Re: TCM or Gynae

They say that tcm is often more contradictory than complimentary to western medicine but i don't think tcm practitioners prescribe you unsafe herbal medications during your pregnancy. Were you seeking tcm to get pregnant or for another medical condition?

I'm not an expert but i think you should see a gynae because the hospital will have the technology and expertise to do scans and evaluations on your pre-natal health e.g. see where the embryo has implanted, blood tests, position and health of fetus later. western medicine not better or worse lor.. but i think better to have peace of mind right? Most gynaes in TMC are pretty good and a bulk of the hospital specialises in maternity care, i think there's a thread somewhere on recommendations.

Wink Re: TCM or Gynae

hi pildough,

Thanks for your suggestions.

I was seeking TCM treatment to get pregnant because Chinese herbs is said to be more efficient to get a more wholesome improvement to your health in a long run.

Actually my dillemma was uncalled for. During my last visit to my TCM doc @ Thong Chai Medical, she actually recommended me to visit a gynae.

She was very encouraging and comforting. She said that Chinese herbs and Vitamins & supplements can go hand and hand. And all those medical check by western docs will aid in reducing mental stress from pregnant woman.

Thus, I will continue to seek chinese herbs and pills.

cheers.
