| Time: N/A Difficulty: N/A Serving Size: One portion | Description: The Chinese call this "Tenfold Porridge" because the ratio of rice and water is one to ten. This rule of thumb is also used for cooking other types of porridge. Hokkiens and Teochews prefer porridge with the rice grains just broken up. The Cantonese, however, cook their porridge for a longer period until the rice grains are completely broken up and the porridge has a smooth consistency. Porridge cooked for a longer period is less cooling than that cooked for a shorter time. |

Rep Power: 5 Reputation: 122 | Re: Plain Rice Porridge I used to cook brown rice porridge by adding in 2T (level) of rice grains and 150ml of stock. Put these into the slow cooker and cook for about 2-3hrs. Put in other ingredients like fish and veg only later when about to serve (give about 10-15min to cook). Coz your baby is only 7 months old, you should push the mixture through a sieve to get the hard husks of brown rice grains out, leaving behind a smooth gruel. | ||||||
