you shouldn't allow yourself to go hungry.. Cos when you r hungry gastric will produce acid which is not good for baby. During 1st trimester, I have a total change of my usual Appeittee.. I live on bee hoon (fried, soup), cold milo ,biscuits and fruits for first 3 mths. (* baby is very picky with the taste of food just like hubby, so whole 1st trimester what I eat were my hubby"s fav. I lost 4kg.
Exactly into 2 trimester, 12week my Appeitte before preggie came back, I eat almost anything... I had 2 whole weeks of curry fish head. I had mee soto (craving) for my whole 2nd trimester. I gain back my 4kg.
* I start taking bird nest & cordyceps with black chicken soup every week starting from 12weeks.
Now my 3rd trimester, I am eating just like normal meal before preggie.. Eat what I feel like eating baby loves fast food ... I had Mcspicy sometimes straight for one week, rib eye steak, spaghetti etc. I started to gained abit on weight at 20weeks when baby is also gaining.
So far 29wk 5d, total gain for me is 5kg & baby is at 1.2kg.
I am consider on the lean side & also quite tall so i dont't look like I put on any weight except a tummy depends on your genes also.. I m exactly like my mum,she doesn't gain alot of weight when she is having us (5 of us), she got no stretchmarks.. Now she is in her 50s her skin is still fair & nice with no marks.
Every mummies are different, some can be very lean, petite before preggie.. Suddenly during preggie they balloon up to 10 kg or even to 20kg. Gaining weight maybe due to water retention, leg swelling etc.
So you got to drink lots of water so that you will not suffer with water retention.. I had 2-3 litres per day. Oh ya !! One important thing is to be happy & stress free everyday.. (*stress may cause uneccessary of weight gaining)
No tonic is allowed in 1st trimester. Start taking at 12wks but you got to check with your gynae or a Chinese doc how often you can take bird nest and cordyceps. * cordyceps are very good.. Baby will gain weight & stronger after taking them.
i'm already around 70kg... gaining weight like nobody's business. i have cravings and i'll eat, but i'm still puking too, on and off. and it's difficult to avoid stress from work... but will do all i can to make sure that the well being of my little one is taken care of!
Thanks!! I'm not goin hungry anymore. Haha. After the first trial. ^.^ I just moved my Gynae visit a week earlier cos I'm having brown discharge. Not as much as when I had m/c last aug but enough to make me worried. Breast not as sore anymore. So it's kinda making me think that symptoms r goin away. but keeping myself happy and reading alot more. Hope to have good news on thurs. help me cross your fingers too ladies. ^.*
Some mummies like you .. can be worried but not visiting gynae ASAP .. Things can happen if you visit gynae abit later. Jia you!!
jeanette i'm like you!
my breasts aren't sore anymore and at the beginning my nipples will be protruding... now back to their inverted look... i'm really worried that the symptoms going away means something bad because one day few days ago i dreamt my baby heartbeat stopped, cried like mad. no discharge though. can't wait for my next appt next tues!
Dont worry.. You won't be having sore breast tru out pregnancy. nipples will be protruding or inverted really due to hormone changes. A normal pregnancy ... Mummies can have inverted & flat nipples.. you dont't have to worry just take care well of your nipples.. You can used a nipplet to correct your nipple. If I m not wrong Avent nipplet is about $79.90
Inverted & flat nipples you will have difficulties in breastfeeding.
thanks a lot Dilys! ya, i shall wait for my next appt... will the nipples grow throughout the pregnancy to suitable for feeding size?
Take care your breast by wearing comfortable bra, no using of soap to wash your nipples (*to prevent cracks n drying).
For successful feeding.. you got to have a good latch & positive attiutude !
Did you go for any prenatal class ?? Actually prenatal class is very useful for a first time mum. you will be fully aware of what is happening during pregnancy.. N you would panick when "the day" comes.
hee replied in another thread... i'm a first time mum and getting really excited! looking forward to prenatal classes too!
i'm eating as usual at work (not much choice in canteen) but in evenings i'll look for things i really want to eat... but sometimes after buying my dinner realized the taste just ain't really what i'm looking for, and i may just eat a couple of mouthful and throw away the rest... then ended up eating buns or 7-11 mashed potato... =/
if i spend my weekend with my parents it'll be all fine. but if i spend my weekend at home i may go crazily sick as mother in law's cooking just smells awful to me, sad to say to... sigh~ after married for 4 years, i'm still not used to living with my husband and his family, neither can i adapt to mother in law's cooking. what's wrong with me?!
confinement will be back at my parents' place... cos i still prefer eating my mum's cooking. thus for that one month, my hubby won't be by my side... as there's not enough room for both of us plus baby in the tiny spare room... which is a partition of the living room actually...
my mother in law can cook super well... i mean my hubby, his siblings, his relatives and even his friends are all super crazy over her cooking... but i'm not a fan. let's just say, different backgrounds, different style of cooking. heh.
Anyone took MC to rest say 1-2 days due to pregnancy symptoms disrupting your capability to work? example: morning sickness, headaches, dizzy spells etc?
Do you get the MC from your gyane or visit company dr?
I'm thinking of getting MC from company dr as I do not wish to arouse suspicions in my office if I were to show an MC from a gynae. My HR has quite a big mouth and I understand that company dr is obligated to share info with the coy if they check but chances of that are very low.
Noone in my company knows I'm expecting yet and it's only 2 mths. I'm only intending to spill the beans once I crossed the first tri.
Anyone can advise?
