hi all mummies.
may i know where can i get a heartbeat machine to listen to my baby heartbeat?
I tink i saw 1 at kiddy palace~ they do sell~
xie xie ni.
roughly how much for one?
mothercare selling at $108 i tink....
Can really hear mah? I heard not useful..
i just got 1 from second hand market. not bad but i think need patient cause not easy to detect also.
my friend lend me hers. she bought it from kiddy palace but didnt ask her how much it was. i've tried it but so far... i can only hear my own heartbeat(i tested the thing to make sure i can really hear) and the grumbling sounds from my tummy. ever since then i've put it aside.. gave up. hahaha!
i also hear the same sound as you. not easy to detect. maybe because too small so not easy to detect
I saw on BBshop website selling around $60 with free delivery, i think. But if not mistaken, only can use around end of 2nd trimester onwards then can detect the heartbeat?
I saw at AMK Hub $59.90, there is a shop selling baby stuff (next to FOX) on level 3 i think.
There's 2 types of fetal heartbeat monitors..
One is called a prenatal listener...Its always round in shape with a hole on it that acts something like a normal stethoscope that just amplifies the sounds in your tummy. They come with headphones..Its useful if you are about 5 months onwards when the baby is big enuff.I bought one from the baby hypermart in Kaki Bukit..It costs me $59.90..I was about 12 weeks when i tried it...Now im almost 15 weeks..Still cant quite get the baby's heartbeat..Only can hear gushing and thuds in my tummy..dont know if that is the baby moving or the sound made by my intestines...!!! Now i just chuck the thing aside..Only once in a while will i pick it up..Only to give up after a few minutes of trying..!!!
Another type is called a doppler fetal heart monitor..It uses a doppler transducer that picks up the sound of your baby's heartbeat as the doppler waves bounce back.Kind of like the similar method that gynaes uses to hear your baby's heartbeat during the check-up.These doppler ones are more effective. They come in different megahertz...3mgz being the most powerful..They come attached with a doppler probe which makes it easier to probe around your tummy with. And it comes with a built-in speaker.Normally you have to use it with an ultrasound gel. This doppler can be used as early as 8 weeks as soon as a heartbeat is seen during your gynae check-upz.My collegue's wife lent me her's.But the one she has is not so good(being the cheapest mahh...!!).I can only pick out my own heartbeat.I cant even hear the sounds made by my tummy..!!
These doppler monitors are sooo common in the US,UK and Australia. And the ones they offer are waaaaayyy more advanced and powerful. But in singapore i only managed to find one company that sells it.Costs about $200+.You can choose to order frm the US or UK websites but take into consideration the currency and shipping costs..Dopplers are more expensive than those prenatal listeners which are already available here in SG...Furthermore,MTBs who have bought them might freak out after they couldnt find their baby's heartbeat. You have to keep in mind that it depends on how your baby is positioned.Plus the placenta and amniotic fluid around the baby might act as a cushion for the baby against your stomach walls, thus making it more difficult to detect.
I have been contemplating for weeks if i wanna get one doppler monitor, but after finding out the cost,i think i'd rather spend the money on buying baby's necessities..!!!Although being able to hear my growing baby's heartbeat on a daily basis would certainly put my mind at ease...Its up to individual choices..!!
Where to get the more efficiency, more cheap one...hope to get one for my boring wife who stuck at home everyday espcially when i m working..also can motivate her a bit
in sg dopplers r not common cos we visit gynae n get to see ultrasound every month!
in US and UK they onli scan at 20weeks! and then when nearing birth they might scan again. so the onli way they are reassured is by listening to baby's heartbeat at home
Ive finally decided not the get the Doppler monitor as during my previous visit,i could see my lil' one very much alive and kicking..!! I want to save the money to buy his necessities..
