i lost weight in the first trimester and only started gaining weight from the 4th month onwards. Gained 3 kg between the 4-5th month cos I could FINALLY eat after 4 months of puking. then 1kg every month thereafter.
Gained about 9kg in total for the whole pregnancy.
everyone's weight gain is different. But a healthy weight gain for Asians should be between 9-13kg, or so I was told by my doc.
I was worried at first and asked gynae if it's ok for me to gain that much. She told me it is still acceptable cause of my height.
I'm into my 34 weeks of pregnancy. 6 weeks more to go. *can't wait*
Actually pregnancy weight gain depends on individually. Some only gained 5kg throughout the whole pregnancy whereas some gained up tp 25 kg. Though people says the healthy range should be 10 - 17 kg. But that's not exactly the case. It actually depends on how big your baby is.
For a 15 kg weight gain, they will be distributed approximately like this:
Baby - 3.5kg
Placenta - 0.7 kg
Amniotic fluid - 1 kg
Uterine enlargement - 1 kg
Maternal breast tissue - 1 kg
Maternal blood volume - 2 kg
Fluids in maternal tissue - 2 kg
Maternal fat stores - 3.8 kg
So ya, it depends on individual. Some mummies will produce more maternal breast tissue. Some have lesser maternal blood volume. So as long as your gynae did not say anything about excessive weight gain, then no worries! These extra fats will eventually come out like your lil precious does.
