2nd trimester

I just reached my 2nd trimester stage, any1 will like to share what tests can I expect to go through, or what needs to be done at this stage?

did my nuchal transluency test at 12 weeks. that was for down syndrome. At 16 weeks, did triple blood test for down syndrome. Check sex on baby at 12 weeks too.

I did my nuchal transluency test and blood test for down syndrome on week 13. Told my doc that I was scared of needles, hence I did even the test for HIV, hepatitis, Syphilis and one other test. Cant rem .

Did you manage to find out the gender of the baby at 12 weeks?

this nuchal transluceny test is just to use ultrascan to measure the thickness of the back of the baby, and to observe the presence of a nose cavity.

I am not sure if the baby gender can be determined at the 12 week. I went to the doc on the 12th, she told me that its not possible to determine yet. Maybe some doc is more experience hence they are able to tell.

haha. so igot to patiently wait for many more weeks... impatient man..

wanna start buying stuffs for baby. but older generations keep tellingme cant buy yet. what kind of myth is that man??

I had the same anticipation as you when i was at week 12, when i went to see the gynae, she was saying too early to see what gender the baby was. Guess got to wait till at least week 16.

I guess older generation have a myth also have a myth that cannot start to talk to baby before knowing the gender, as it might turn out that the baby is a girl, and you been calling him "boy", she might end up as a tomboy or something and vice versa . sigh. This sort of myth also have.

If i'm not wrong, you can only tell the gender when its near 16 weeks as baby not fully grown but i have friend who knw it when she was about 14.5 weeks.

Got to know my bby gender at week 16. But gynea can only confirm 100% during the detailed scanning at week 20.

wah, lucky ! I only address the fetus inside me as baby! haha...
but hoping for a girl . so sweet mah girl. =)

when is your next scan? How many weeks pregnant are you? Hopefully that you can get your girl.

anyway there were saying if its a boy, you might mostly probably have a outbreak of pimple due to the hormonal changes. Not sure how true it is. In addition, some other myth is that a boy the MS will last longer. Some even proclaim that if your morning sickness ends at about week 13. Got good chance its a girl. Boys will then to MS more.

ya... not true .... I got friend MS last till give birth n hers is a gal. Depend 1 .
My 1st boy can c about 15 weeks but tis time was almost 20 weeks then can c . But I knw pregnant with boy look bad...... I got my "big" nose when i reach 24 weeks.

what i heard wa, if you look ugly when you r preggie, it means that the baby boy will become a very manly person. However, if you look good even if you r preggie with a boy, it means that your baby boy will become a 'si wen' person... dont know hw true but i have friends who look good during all pregnancies, regardless expecting boy or gal...

Actualy, if its a boy, should be able to spot sumting during 12 week.... hehe

Cuz now too small to wear maternity clothes, then too big for normal clothes- my clothes all tight fitting tees and jeans.

Mayb tis is true......
I got very ugly look durin my 1st and my boy was so active and very boyish.
My sister In law look ok during hers and her boy was a much more "si wen" compare to my boy.
