I'm playing classical music from this prenatal CD called The Baroque Effect 2:Vitamins for Brains. Every night 2-3 tracks only. Then I'll read a book from Dr Seuss and hubby will recite chinese poetry (san zi jing or Tang shi). So every night we spare like 15 mins bonding time with our unborn child

Oh and I read that you've to be careful with placing headphone over tummy, need to adjust volume not too loud otherwise will cause deafness. I'm using normal ipod speakers and just placed them near my waist level, playing at a comfortable volume.

I did once before, put the speaker onto my tummy and tune at a normal volume when a a nice piano song come on. Loud enough for the whole room. Oh mine, now I fear too loud! Worried about the deafness. There's no way to test on that until the baby is born right?

I stop doing that after reading that the music does not do anything much to fetus at early stage.

Nevertheless, I try to play piano often for my baby and he usually won't move. But he will kick and kick when I'm over at my students' houses and they were playing the pieces awfully!

Wah poetry! dont't think my husband knows anything about poetry. So far I have not't played any music for the baby - if we do most of it is Korean slow songs. Lol

With my first I listened to a lot of my favourite music - Italian rock music. I found it extremely helpful when my baby was unsettled as a newborn, he would stop crying and fall asleep when I played it. In the car and as soon as we play his favourite song he becomes quiet! And if we changed songs he would start to fuss. The funny thing is, he chose this song as his favourite as it was not released until months after he was born :P Here's a video:

    Joshua's favourite song - YouTube

Nowadays when I put Italian rock on he loves to sing and dance along to it

With this pregnancy I've been listening a lot to the Wiggles...because my son likes them now too.

    Re: Music for unborn baby

Actually I prefer to listen to R&B hiphop music than classical lol. But hubby forced me to play classical -.-. He believes that even if baby cant hear or understand the music, but when the mother listens to classical, she will feel more calm and relax, which will bring about a healthier baby. I'm bored of classical too, makes me sleepy each time lol.
I think later on I'll be getting babyplus too to play for baby soon.
