thks mummies! i read up on induction just now then decided to stop halfway cos dont wanna scare myself unnecessarily..
i was induced at week 37.
Reason being waterbag level low. at 3.4. I was not even dilated nor had any contractions at the time of admission.
However, i was being induced at the span of 3 days, 4 times the pill was inserted into me. By the time of the 3rd insertion, my cervix was already very soft and I was dilated at about 1-2 cm. Within hours of the 4th pill, I had dilated fully and my waterbag burst. I had a natural delivery.
However, during the course of the 3 days, they kept monitoring the baby's heartbeat, should the heartbeat start dropping, they'll recommend an emergency c-sec.
I went to KK to induce on sun nite... reason coz i have having some irregular contraction, and my legs are so painful and may go numb sometimes during the night (my husband feels its not right, yet KK doc keep saying its normal) and I was afraid that baby's weight is too big (Kk dont even want me to go for scan to check the baby;s weight, he was already 2.7kg at 34 weeks+! and i had a gain of 3 kg by 37 weeks!! )
So went to labour ward and request for induce, after check, they say having irregular contaction only, ask me go home wait for it to be regular then come again... but husband argue with them and insist i induce on that very day.... after few hours of arguing, they finally let me insert the pill
, after which its a very long and unhappy story....
end of the story, was very lucky my husband insist of induce... if i wait till 40 weeks, or when the baby want to come out on its on, it will be C section coz baby already 3.62KG!!!!!!!!! i tear all the wear till my anus!!! so painful....
and lucky that i insist of start pushing my baby out coz its too painful (by the time i am 10cm open, all my epidural is used up and they say can't top up anymore, so i gave birth with no pain relief.....) my baby has his cord around his neck so tightly !!!!!!.... almost died, he came out no breathing... and he ate his own shit already........
so its a very lucky lucky baby..... full story very unhappy and frustrated, some of the staff very lame... perharps just my luck...
I was told by one of my girlfriends that the midwives & nurses will treat you differently depending on who is your gynea.
I had premature contraction at week 23 when I was having Yang and my hubby sent my to Kandang Kerbau Hospital as we were too panic. The house doctor at the A&E sent me home after 5 hours in Kandang Kerbau Hospital becos (1) I was not dilating although I had mild contraction and (2) they dont have beds for baby and me should baby sudden wanted to come out. We contacted my own gynea after we recovered from our shock and I was hospitalised in Mt A for 5 days utimately and was on medication to control the contraction till week 38. That's why I die die also dont want to go KK when I was expecting Quan.
hmm I guess everyone has different experiences with the services at KK. I'm a subsidised patient there, and no1 had brushed any of my concerns aside. In fact there was a period of time which I was worried that my waterbag was leaking, and the nurses sent me to the delivery suite straight away and had asked for a doctor to check.
However, I had to admit that not all the nurses are very experienced there. I was having some contractions and was being put on the CTG machine, yet the scan did not pick up the contractions on the graph, 3 different times by 3 different nurses. Until I asked one of the older nurses in the delivery suite, she explained that it could be because the other nurses might have put the device on my tummy wrongly, thus it did not pick up my contractions earlier on. After that she explained to me where to fix the device on my stomach and fixed it for me, then it picked up on my contractions.
The best part was when the doctors were looking through my CTG graphs and were saying "eh how come no contractions before". The previous 3 CTG graphs showed no contactions and the last CTG scan before I went into labour was spiking at 1-2 mins intervals.
you mean after week 34, they never send you for another scan? My baby's weight was being scanned at week 37, including waterbag level. And that was when I got admitted.
nope, they did not send me for more scan... i even ask them my weight suddenly gain so much, baby got problem or not,, they just say normal.... n i have gestational diabeties.... they should b more careful as baby then to b overweight,,,
yup i think for everyone is different... i deliver my benson in Kandang Kerbau Hospital... but i'm a with TPS... when i suspect my waterbag leak.. the nurse really take good care of me & check everything.. doc came quite fast as well... & also when i admitted to deliver my boy... the midwife was very very nice & make sure that everything is ok.. hmmm.. ya i got hear before also is that depends on which gynae you r with.. some midwife is very mean... but now i think their service is much better.. but the only problem is... Kandang Kerbau Hospital is getting more ex.. so if i really wanna to have my second baby.. i will go Thomson Medical Center.. as my gynae will be moving there...
hmm that's funny.
Mine is a small baby and low waterbag level, and previously they keep sending me for check ups at every 2 weeks interval, alternate visits to check waterbag level and the baby's weight. They are worried that the baby is not growing enough in the womb, and with the low water bag level, they prefer her to come out earlier.
And yeah, with gestational diabetes, its easy for baby to be overweight. Thus I'm pretty surprised that they didn't scan you or monitor your progress earlier on. They had already started monitoring me at 28 weeks, when I switched to Kandang Kerbau Hospital.
My dad felt that they were being extremely kiasu with me, putting me on tests, scans and lots of monitoring.
Are you a subsidized or private patient? You can insists on scans and tests to be done. You have the right to do so. If you are a subsidized patient, the doctors seeing you are usually medical officers, or juniors. And for my case, one of them had consulted with a senior consultant on how to deal with it.
I am a subsidized patient, being 1st time mum so a bit gong gong... then usually i go to the appointments alone, so no one to advise me, only when i go home, i tell my sister in laws about my appointment then they feel something not right, ask me to ask on the next visit, but doc always tells me its normal..... just keep monitoring my blood sugar can already... i even question her, " i suddenly gain 3 kg in 2 weeks, normal??? " she can still tell me normal, its like this towards the end of pregnancy....
but lucky my baby is safe... growing well now too ^^
i now at KK for induce.
i was admited on sun for regular contraction then doc found out baby too heavy weight 3.88kg so suggest either induce now for wait 2 week then C-section.
i choose induce, morning 7 am ust insert the pill, now waiting
since you are having regular contractions now, you shouldn't have to wait long. All the best!!~~ you must be so excited!~
haha, I had 4 pills, they had a hard time getting me dilated. 1st 2 pills only dilated me by about 1cm. I wasn't having any contractions nor dilated when i was admitted.
Luckily by the 4th pill I was having regular contractions, and within 2-3 hours after that, I went into labour.
i am lucky, i insert 1 pill only, i had irregular contractions, was rejected for induce at first, but insist on inducing...
insert the pill on 12th 2am, gave birth on 13th around 5 am... so its 27hours....
advise to you, sleep while you can.... rest while you can.... prepare for pushing your big baby.... its requires a lot of strength and determination... mine is 3.62 KG, 1st baby... thus very painful for me...
my sister in law baby's also big, 3.69kg, but its her 2nd baby, so its easier for her....
i just had my third pill inserted at 2pm today till now like no sign yet one 1cm dilated onli. baby still very active in my tummy seem like she dont want to leave my tummy.
there are some contraction but the pain is the bearable kind of pain,
hope baby can come out tonight so i can go home faster, have been staying in hospital sin sunday till now
All the best !
dont worry..you r almost there..take a nap if you can..save all your strength for pushing later!!
dont't worry dear, just take as much rest as possible.
After my 3rd pill, it was only much later on then some contractions came in, but still can tolerate.
They didn't ask you go for check up again at 10pm? i was at the delivery suite almost everyday at 2pm and 10pm , to check on the CTG and for the pills. It was on the last day that I had the 3rd pill inserted at 2pm, and the 4th at 11pm. That time just before they inserted the 4th pill, I was only 1-2 cm dilated.
Gal, i finally give birth last night 2247 hour, baby weight 3.738kg.
induced at 36 week 6day, with 3 oill
