Is First Pregnancy Always Late Mah?

Hi all experienced mummies...
I am now in my 38 weeks and 3 days ...but seem like no sign of baby arriving ... Ever since i started having sleepless nights and itchy rashes at my back, i started to feel very irritated and cannot wait for baby to be born fast fast...
But i asked some of my friends and alot of them said that first pregnancy is always late. It won't be earlier than EDD or exactly on EDD... Is it true? Cos i really cannot take it anymore ...

hey.. i think not so true.
my girl was early by a week.

i was as irritated like you during my late preg. can't sleep well.
swell in the feet and pain in the back.
same thoughts i've got hoping the baby will come out soon.

maybe you can try walking around a bit more.

oh did your gynae advise you on when he or she feel that the baby will be coming?

quite true to certain extent....

its really heavy and difficult rite .....

Have you tried talking to baby? Last time i was so Xin Ku....super heavy and lethargic....i spoke to him "when are you coming out huh? Mummy very heavy ....faster ...." then , he really came out at 38 weeks 2 days .....but dont know how true or just coincidence ......but i was quite active during pregnancy maybe tats one of the reasons too......lols

Will gynea be able to feel when is baby coming? Been asking him before but his answer is always disappointing... keep on tell me not so soon..

I did not tell her when to come out.. just tell her if she wants to come out must choose a time when daddy is around.. i have been feeling very restless and tired cos cannot sleep properly at night due to my rashes...
you mention that you are active during pregnancy... active in the sense of? i mean how active you were?

I'm slightly behind you in my pregnancy and no sign of the baby coming anytime soon either. For some reason, my gynae reckons she'll arrive earlier, in 39th week. I really hope his prediction is right! I've been trying to naturally encourage labour by taking long walks at the park. I think I walked more than 2 km last night! The exercise also helps me fall asleep faster, because by the time I get back & shower I'm exhausted already. I dont't sleep well either these days (partly due to the unbearably humid weather, grrr), but it must be tougher on you since you're suffering from rashes as well. Just hold on a bit more!

Sigh... Went for gynea check up today.. gynea says baby is still not engaged and we can still keep her in for a week or two... She is having a good time relaxing inside...i guess.. Wanted to go for long walks too but got backaches and legs abit swollen.. and my rashes..once i get too hot or i perspire, it starts to itch like crazy...

i read from a book that some babies might be resistant to be delivered coz they dont want to come out from their comfort zone. so talking to baby, praying for them (for my case coz im a Christian) might help. to reassure them that daddy n mummy are eagerly waiting to receive them into our arms some pple even shared that they managed to get baby to be engage and rotated to be ready for birth thru talking to baby. i havent experienced myself yet.

me too! i cant take it any more also! i am now 39 weeks today. On yuesday the doc made it sound like baby will arrive this week as i am already 2.5 cm dilated... but so far not arrived yet - so dissapointing to have my hopes dashed!

I have also been walking but not 2km! and spend a couple of hours baking & cooking but no such luck.

PS how do you know if baby is engaged? my baby is head down but is that engaged?

I think not true that 1st pregnancy always late, my cousin delivered at week 35 & i still carry the ball till now 38.5 weeks. I also feel heavy to carry around, some more my baby give false alarm on last fri went to Kandang Kerbau Hospital but discharge on sat as the doc suggest induce but i dont want. So they let me go home & wait the pain to happen again or water bag burst.

thats not true! my girl came out exactly on the edd! i still remember that my last chk up, doc say will wait until 41 weeks as it seems like the baby is not coming out. who knows, on the edd, i was having bad cramps.. and here comes my girl! =D

i guess its subject to individual... i had my 1st boy at 39weeks+...
but like what cancanmum said.. try talking to baby do helps....

my gynae realise i was a little dilated on my check up then told me baby is coming. and i think the gynae can see if the baby head is engaged.

i remember someone told me if your tummy like have become lowered will be almost time to give birth .

Gynea says baby's head is not engaged still floating in the water so dont think will give birth so soon.... i sad ...anxious to see her.. but y my gynea did not check whether i am dilated anot ...

My boy boy aso no sign of coming out, my gynae say he good life good meals in my tummy , weigh around 4kg in my 39 wks 4 days, so she say need to induce as if we wait, he will be bigger and difficult for natural birth.

She insert one tablets into me and told me to admit to the hospital same nite and also told the nurse to insert 1 more tablets at 6am the next morning but i still have no contraction and dilating, no pain at all. So she ask me want to insert more tablets, I say no and immediately told her i want C-section as I want my boy to be safe.

By the way, I walk alot and can walk faster than my collegues even during my last wks of pregnancy, and my baby head aso never engage, so the walk a lot thing aso depends.

When the time is rite for yr baby, he will come out soon... hee.. good luck..

Some say 1st preganacy will be early but i was my mom's 1st and i was delivered by C 2 weeks later after EDD cuz i was too big-4kg.

A month ago, i travelled alot so i told baby to be 'good' and he was really 'good'. He is still 'good' while i am off duty now, getting a little impatient so i told baby, daddy and mummy want to see him soon, hopefully by tomorrow. We'll see...

slowly.. for myself, i delivered my baby 2days before my EDD...
was preg 39wks & 5days...
maybe some pple's experience differently...
slowly, just think of your baby, keep on talking to your baby... heheh
& in the mean time, enjoy your preg period... trust me, you'll miss it!

my gal pops 4days before EDD.. now awaiting for my no.2... so excited..... everyday talk to him... tell him to weight bout jie jie weight.. then mummy can easy delivery... hahahaha!! but dear husband sae compare to dear daughter, he bigger.. much bigger.. so i hope doc will tell me no durian anymore (then dont need acc father in law eat liaoz).. ate bout 4 times within this 2 months.. hahahaha.....

Eat durian will really make baby grow bigger. Last week i went for check baby no grow at all @ 2.5kg. Then i ate durian ytd i went to check baby 2.9 almost 3kg. Then doc say no more durian for me..

Ytd went for the check doc say baby engage but i have not even dilate.. y so late?? thought baby can come out on mon then she will have same bday as my hubby.
what can i do to dilate? diffcult to sleep at nite also...

you might want to walk more.. i dont know how thru.. but i do walk more often... mother in law give me the reason cuz gravitational force.. gravity can help in bring the lil one down n cause dilation mahz... then walking helps the pelvic area also... dear husband's suggestion is have sex.. lol... his stupid reason is can poke the water bag, cause it to break n can deliver liaoz lohz... lol... might be true... but feeling so big n heavy liaoz.. whr got mood to have sex?!?!?!?! wahahaha....
