All mommies out there...
Need some info... I went thru my last detailed scanning only at 20 week.
Now im at my 35 week my next check up will be this Thursdays. but my gynae never give me any scanning to check my baby...
I dont even know whether whats my baby weight till now.
Im a bit worried.... but my last check up my gynae having been saying
that my baby is fine... without going thru any scanning... just normal pressing of mu tummy here n there...
Any of you have the same experience...???
Hi fadeela...i'm currently in my 31 weeks and for all my check ups, my gynae did an ultrasound scan. Then she will tell me my baby's weight and let me listen to the baby's heartbeat. My gynae is at Thomson. What about you dear? Perhaps different gynae has different arrangement and procedure.
For me, same as joeyz will do regular urine test, ultrasound, listen baby heartbeat, tell me about the weight & snap a photo of baby...
same as the mummies mentioned above... every visit i do ultra scan and get to hear baby's heartbeat. Gynae will tell me the position and the weight of baby..
R you under Kandang Kerbau Hospital check up.. to my knowledge for subsidy class in Kandang Kerbau Hospital they dont do ultrascan every visit..
My gynae is located at Thomson Medical Centre, every check up will include
1) High blood pressure check up
2) Urine test
3) Ultrasound scan (will print out)
4) Baby heartbeat
5) Weight of baby.
Me too.. every check up come with ultrasound scan.
typically the gynae will use the ultrascan to look for the baby heartbeat, to determine the position of the baby and to give a snapshot of the face of the baby (when you are in the later stage of pregnancy) *missing those days when baby is smaller, gynae can give a picture of the whole baby* And finally to give an estimation of the weight of the baby.
Yup same as me too..Since my first check-up @ 8weeks,my gynae always does the ultrasound..Takes a picture of my baby for me..Lets me listen to my baby's heartbeat..Measure the baby's crown to rump length..Checks my blood pressure..Checks my urine glucose..Only now at my later stage does he check my baby's weight..My gynae is also @ Thomson Medical.
mine also dont have scan every checkups... i think only once every 2 or 3 mths which made me reali very disappointed... moreover, i m under private from Kandang Kerbau Hospital and in case you all not aware, they dont have package and it is not cheap per checkup... i did not know you all have scans every checkups, if know, i think i rather sign up for package in Thomson Medical Center or mount alvernia...
My gynae is a KK.... She did heartbeat check only on me... no scanning. I dont even know my baby weight. But she did assure me that my baby size is a normal size baby and everyting is fine..
This is my first baby so im not really sure about what information i need to know...
Hopefully by god's grace everyting is fine...
Is thomson pakcage expensive... how much you pay for yr check ups... KK doesnt have packages
I'm also under Kandang Kerbau Hospital's private suite....but every visit my gynae will do ultra-sound scanning for me to check on baby's heartbeat, position & weight apart from all the routine test like urine & blood pressure test. You mentioned that you have only did one last detailed scanning at 20 weeks, did you do another detailed scanning at week 28 at ADC to check on the growth of baby?
But i do agreed with you after adding up every visit of the bills, seemed like not very cheap compared to those anatenal package with private gynae. Due to i have some complications, that's why i choose Kandang Kerbau Hospital just in case baby born premature.
I did the detailed scan at ADC on my 20 weeks but after that no more scan just heartbeat checks & normal routine checks... that is why im worried now.. is my gynae doing her job?? Never mind I will make sure I question her on my next visit tomorrow.
What complication did you face?
For my every visit my gynae will do ultrasound scan to check on baby's heartbeat + print-out. After the last detailed scanning at 20 weeks, my gynae told me she won't do ultrasound every visit and she will measure my tummy growth. Wk24 visit - I thought i won't be able to see my baby on screen , but anyway she measures my tummy measurement then still scan to see baby's heartbeat and position. And only at wk28 i get to know the baby weight. Both wk24 and 28 visits, i did not get the print-out.
Btw, how do you all define "packages".. is it.. you paid a lump sum then you can go see gynae any time? My gynae at Thomson Medical Center, but i didn't sign any packages - i am still paying per visit basis.

I thought the growth detailed scan at week 28 is compulsory? Do you mind to share who is your gynae?
I have essential hypertension even before conception, so the chances of me getting pre-eclampsia is very high....which in later stage of pregnancy may affect the proper functioning of the placenta & thus the growth of baby.....So far my blood pressure is kept under control, but gynae said pre-eclampsia normally strike after 28 weeks...so i need to be extra careful, i need to rush to hospital immediately if i experience any sudden jump in bp, swelling of feet, face & hand & blurred vision. Sounded very scary right?
For my Antenatal Package include unlimited checkup (my 1st visit when i'm 9 wks preg) till you give birth. Inclusive of multi-vitamins, folic acid, urine test, ultrasound (every visit and you get to keep the scan photo each time). Not inclusive of those detailed scanning. Mine cost $588.50 after GST. Exclude delivery fee at $1000+GST (recently he just increased another $150 on his natural del'why fee. shrug~).
How much did you pay per visit?
For my case, my gynae is at Thomson Medical Centre
The package start at 12 weeks
Before 28 weeks - 4 weeks per visit
Between 28 to 32 weeks - 3 weeks per visit
Between 32 to 36 weeks - 2 weeks per visit
After 36 weeks - every weeks.
It is include consultation fee, ultrasound scan, ultrasound photo, urine test, blood pressure measurement but is not include the medicine.
Cost me about $700.00 before GST.
Normally if you sign the package, when you delivery the baby it can use to offset the bill from medisave.
But I know some of the private gynae dont't have any package offer, so you might need to check first..
I took up a package with my gynae when i was in my 16 wks. I paid about $600+ for the package which includes :
a) urine test
b) checking of blood pressure
c) ultrasound scan
d) consultation fees
During the scan, my gynae will tell me baby's weight, baby's position, baby's heartbeat and will print for me my baby's pic. So now..everytime i go for my check up, i dont't have to pay for anything unless if i need more supplements. Since this is your 1st baby and you r worried..i think you shld request for a scan. I m sure your gynae will be ok with doing a scan for you.
without scannin and the nec heartbeat chks/ baby weight and all at kk sounds more like going to a gp to me.. i wonder y yr gynae never do those stuffs..
as for me,hubby has decided that he prefers sending me to a gp, as like my first pregnancy, and w a gp, of course no scan , only pressing of the tummy, and urine test, but i am comfortable w that, and even w my scanning at sata, i was very early for my scan thus cannot even detect much and till now at wk 29, i have not been refered to the hospital as yet.. so until now i still am very curious whether im really having a baby girl, but i follow my instincts..
so by right, you should demand for all the stuffs you wanna know, after all you paid for the svc.. as for me, now im still ok w my gp, not knowing a few stuffs as i trust him and feel that i can wait for certain baby facts since my baby inside kicking and rolling here and thr do give me an assurance that everything's fine and of course w lots of prayers, i believe i n baby will be in god's good hands
