for me e checkup seem uncomfortable. But after that will be fine. Anyway tis is my 3rd baby. So those 1st time, be strong when givin birth
Looks like different ppl have different experience!! My friends asked me to pray for a small sized nurse with thin fingers and thin wrist/hand!!! She said almost whole hand till wrist was in her when checking done!!! OMG!!!
checking for dilation is very uncomfortable but not painful.
as for engagement... not too sure but i think can be seen when doing the ultra sound scan to see if baby is engaged. so should be no pain for that . cos been doing scans recently by my gynae and by looking at the scan she is able to tell me if my baby is engaged or not.
my husband said that when my gynae check for dilation, not the whole hand go in so 'kua zhang', onli the fingers but gotta reach quite deep in, so if gynae or nurse got short fingers then maybe part of the palm will go in also.
hahaha... dont think my husband got the courage to see how the gynea does the check!! Think he will faint. hahaha... I'm Gan Jiong now. This Friday is my check. Gynea mentioned he wil do "Internal check"...
I've gone thru my check ytd:
Check for Engagement - Gynae just push and feel the lower part of your tummy.. some strength is exerted. Bearable
Check for Dilation - I was lying down and tummy's blocking. can't see if its the fingers or hand, but I suspect its just fingers. She had to reach really deep in. Took about 1 min. Its bearable pain .... I was grabbing on the bed's railing. LOL...
Conclusion : I'm 1 cm diliated and baby's engaged @ Wk37.
Any mum with experience know when am I likely to pop?
i am going for csect, but my gynae aso said next week for my checkup @ wk37, it will be via the "bottom"...... is it the same type of check up the mummies here are talking about??
Most likely it is..... My Doc also mentioned "Internal check"... Should be from "downstairs"!
But i was not swab at the buttocks .. only the Vagina.
Checking for diliation is very painful!!! Unbearable for me...tears spilled out the moment my doc put his fingers in... But he did not check for dilation during check up...It was when im about to deliver and have blood spotting then he check for me...Before that he just gave me medicine to eat to prevent early delivery. I took epidural once i reached hospital..and overall still ok cos rly couldn't feel a thing about it...
I had 2 checks done so far.
Friday (usual checkup) + Today (cos baby not moving much past 2 days. So I went back for another check via CTG). Well, Definitely uncomfortable. 1st time check = Pain (Initial) + uncomfortable (during checking of passageway). 2nd time check = Uncomfortable + a bit of burning sensation when he is checking. HAIYO.... This check is something I dont like at all. Now dread to go clinic again coming Friday. Sure another check all the way to the cervix!!!
