I gave birth to dear son at Kandang Kerbau Hospital. They do provide items like:
Maternity pads (kotex brand)
Goody Bag (alot of samples) diapers, body wash etc
Thanks a lot for your replies.
I also heard that new born should not be wearing rompers due to the placenta. They should be wearing two pc suit instead to avoid abrasion.
Is it necessary? i bought a lot of rompers ....
When dear son was still a new born, mother in law gave him wear 2pc... wear till his about 1 month old plus then i gave him wear rompers..
yeah, the most basic stuffs to carry are of course your clothing, toiletries, hp charger (otherwise you have to exchg hp w hubby when he goes home the day you are admitted.. luckily we use the same hp and same colour then hehe..), maternity pads (may also bring the long night type if bleeding isnt so much), small dettol liquid as i feel washing w diluted dettol makes healing faster down there, baby clothes/stuffs, nec documents so that you can register the birth asap w/o having togo back hm and come back.. but dont worry so much as hubby can always bring stuffs we forget to put inside the bag..
i packed my bag at week 35, since i was told i may go into labour early, and true enuf.. i did.. all the best!
my hospital bag includes:
number 1 n 2 is optional.. cuz the package also includes a face towel, a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap n shampoo, maternity pads, disposable panties and a pen..
- face towel: to wipe myself, cuz confinement cannot bath..
- toothbrush n toothpaste: travel type ones will do.. cuz only there for 1/2 nights
- maternity pads + disposable panties: cuz can directly throw the whole thing away.. dont need to think of staining..
- documents: pink booklet (for admission), bank book, marriage cert etc. (for doin the b/c and opening bank a/c)
- hp charger + hp: for sms purpose only.. cuz Kandang Kerbau Hospital provides a tel for you to use, on the bedside cupboard.. can use to call locally for free, overseas call will be charged..
- a book/ laptop: to entertain yourself when there's nothing to do!!
- baby booties n mittens for baby: bout 2-3 sets for the stay at hospital..
- home coming clothes: for baby n you.. lyk mittens + booties + swaddle wrap + romper/2pcs..
- tummy binder: heard that it helps in regaining our shape faster
- 2 pcs of cloth nappy for baby to sleep on: for my 2 doggies, so they familiarise baby's smell, before we bring her home..
i admitted last year dec.. but the toiletries are inclusive and maternity pads are adhesive lei~~ (y they lyk that now?? T.T)
can help baby change to the kimono style romper mahz~~ also ez..
do we need to bring slipper or bedroom slipper there?
or it will be provided?
i dont't think they provide that.. i planned to wear my haivanas flip flop when admitting so no need to bring extra slippers.
stress.. 36 wks now, haha.. could be anytime soon! been packing n checking my hospital bag.. keep on adding items =)
Yea, the maternity pads that they provided were the string ones and I brought my own self adhesive maternity pads. They also provided me with a pack of disposable undies when I was there Aug last year. Unsure if this was part of their samples packages which should be subjected to changes, depending on what freebies the suppliers provide KK with, I guess. I also brought my own baby powder for freshening up. This is particularly useful if you do not want to wash your hair at the hospital so by sprinkling some powder (baby or talcum), your hair would not look greasy and oily..
Anyway, should anything be missed out, hubbies or family could always go home and bring it for you or you could get new ones from the shops/ pharmacies in KK so no need to kan cheong
maybe can stand by those normal pads for night use, the 8 or 10pcs one only few bucks.
but dont't worry even if you dont't stand by can always ask hubby buy from pharmacy below, they a few brands of maternity pads.
for disposable undies i was told to bring my own.. but again if you girls didn't bring can also buy from pharmacy, the stuff there aren't expensive.
Though it is true, most things could be conveniently purchased from the shops in KK, please note that some of the shops there (pharmacy and a few other shops) were closed on Sundays.. Unlucky for me, I delivered on a Sunday and when I needed a float to sit on (it really helped me alot for my 3rd degree perineal wound), my dad had to go other places like kiddy palace to haunt for it as the shops were closed. Unsure if there are any changes in the pharmacy's operation hours now..
hmm, i also gave birth in 08 and the maternity pads were adhesive type. Only immediately after delivery they gave me a string type then subsequently all adhesive.
Kandang Kerbau Hospital doesn't provide slippers so must bring your own.
With regard to wearing 1 or 2-pc suit for NB, if it's a romper, make sure it's those that doesn't need to wear over the NB's head. I brought a romper for my dear daughter to wear when she was discharged and it's those with ribbons so dont need to wear over her head...
Kandang Kerbau Hospital also dont provide swaddling towel so bring your own if you want to swaddle your baby.
