This is a discussion on Anyone deliver in Kandang Kerbau Hospital lately? within the General Pregnancy Discussion forum, part of the Pregnancy Forum category; Originally Posted by adelynn Shucks! But are there differences in visiting policies and limitations around the 1 bedder and 4 ...
I was in one-bedder at Kandang Kerbau Hospital and had my mohter there the whole time. Had visitors during visiting hours - some stayed slightly pass but all my visitiors left on their own accord.
(It was during the H1N1 so unfortunately the main Kandang Kerbau Hospital restricted it to 2 visitors at any one time only)
I was admitted to KK when i was 26 weeks at beginning of sep09...i stayed at subsidised c ward...hubby came to visit me from 7.30am & stayed up to 10.30pm. No nurses asked him to leave even after the normal visiting hours, so guess for A1/B1 shouldn't be an issue.
May i know all the mummy who give birth in Kandang Kerbau Hospital lately.. i know some mummy actually stay in A1 ward.. just wanna check for normal birth how much do you pay in cash??? & also if for B1 how much do you pay in cash??
I just did my admission planning at Kandang Kerbau Hospital yesterday. For normal birth premier package (A1 ward), initial payment is $2,080, while for B1 is $1,287. But guess you would like to know for those who gave birth recently, whether they eventually top up or get refund right?
Hope we can get other mummies to share here, hehe...

only difference between a1 and b1 wards is that the husband can stay overnight for a1 ward but not for b1.
kk also has interest-free loan instalment plans with certain cards/banks. dbs, etc. i took the 6-month interest free plan cos i didnt want to fork out the money at one shot.
i did enquire about the fees today, was told that for classic package the deposit is as follow:
A1- $1854 Normal delivery, $2446 C-section
B1- $830 Normal delivery, $1512 C-section
the above are just estimation, it could be more or lesser.
was also told that if want to sign up premier must check with gynae cos not all offer premier service to the patients.
(premier service= gynae will be there throughout the labour and delivery, classic= only when about to deliver our gynae will come)
Oic... but how many of you took A1? n how many of you took B1?? hee i think all different price is also because gotta see how much our medisave have.... m i right?? cause some of my friend pay lesser, some pay more...
i m also considering to get a1 or b2 coz the diff is only hubby can stay throughout the night but the price diff is so large... even more ex than mount a... hubby wants to stay with me throughout the night but me a bit heartpain on the $$$... anybody knows whether any diff in terms of services??? sigh!! still cannnot make up my mind...
But i think as in the service... they r just as good... cause one of my friend just give birth... she say everything is ok.. so i guess no worries...
i'm choosing B1, cos the package is for 2days, most probably 1 day is labour and delivery so will only stay in the ward 1night. dont't want to fork out the $1k extra just for that 1night for hubby to stay with me. but i'm planning for normal delivery, unless 'touch wood' next check up got complication then need to c-sect will consider A1 cos after operation sure need hubby to help out alot.
Actually A1 & B1 are the same in terms of rooms & service, just that A1 allowed hubby to stay overnight, so for those mummies who dont't mind about this, it's really not worth to pay extra $1k for this.
just fyi that i m oready into my 39 weeks and they did not take any initiative to educate me on the packages... i enquire all this on self initative and thus i feel that Kandang Kerbau Hospital service is not very good or maybe it is just my gyane not very good... i feel that she is too "quiet" and did not advise me on a lot of things till i found out myself...
but still for me not worth paying 1k extra for the above.

sufeit, so you'll be choosing which ward?? are you a subsidised patients?
sigh, if only i can choose any ward and still stick to my gyane, i find KK fees are expensive for private patients cos even mt. alvernia is cheaper and they're private hospital!!
like i said earlier(personal opinion ) i dont't find paying 1k worth it for hubby to stay cos most probably just for 1 night in the ward..
in fact, mount a and other private hospital also have maternity packages till their delivery which is cheaper... my that same colleague only pay $500plus for the whole package throughout her 10 mths pregnancy and yet i pay on average $100plus per visit to Kandang Kerbau Hospital... wonder why Kandang Kerbau Hospital no package... sigh and make us pay so much...
i discuss with hubby oready last night and decided that we are going for 4 bedded instead coz ya, not worth it to pay extra $1k just for him to stay overnight... he said he might as well go stay in a hotel nearby... lol... i also told hubby that if we even have second baby (coz i planned to stop at 1), i m not going to Kandang Kerbau Hospital anymore...
As what karoru mummy mentioned due to sticking to a fixed gynae, we are classified as "private patient" and end up we have to pay quite a lot (around $100 per visit), while other mummies pay maternity package of $550 to $750 to their private gynae. I also seeing another gynae in clinic A, the cost is the same as TPS, so guess no difference as all considered as private patient.
I was advised to choose Kandang Kerbau Hospital becos i have essential bp so i'm on the high risk of getting pre-eclampsia hence may deliver pre-mature baby. The cost of stay in private hospital for pre-mature baby is very huge. I have to see 2 different gynaes in Kandang Kerbau Hospital due to my condition, so double the cost. For my next baby, i'm not sure whether i will still continue with KK or choose a private gynae who is specialised in high risk case like me.
I was quite surprised to know that other private hospital delivery fee are cheaper cos i remembered the MOH website showed Kandang Kerbau Hospital is still the cheapest compared to private hospital (maybe for c ward only??) . Also why Kandang Kerbau Hospital dont't have 2-bedder ward...Just my personal opinion, if you dont't have any pregnancy complication & prefer a fixed gynae to attend to you, seemed like private gynae can offer cheaper and better service than Kandang Kerbau Hospital.
Hi karoru mummy,
I saw your tickle you are just a few days away from your EDD....Hope you have a smooth delivery & take care! Do update us on your progress...
