According to my gynea, there are 2 types of IUD recommended. One is the copper one and the other is a plastic one brand name is Mirena. The Mirena cost about $500 and inserted my gynea after menses starts...It will stop after the 1st few wks of delivery and will stop for some time when you BF until some time later it will start right then you put.]. Gynea said if breast feeding implanon not so safe. Advise is to put IUD. I am also planning to put IUD and waiting for menses to come as i am currently BF...
Yep, copper iud is non-hormonal, so it is safe for breastfeeding, no weight gain, no moodiness, etc. But menses will be heavier than usual, with extra spotting before and after menses for 6-12mths after insertion of iud. My menses is now back to normal after 1 year use of iud.
Overall i'm very happy with this contraceptive
I'm on birth control pills... Diane 35... good for skin too as it makes my skin smooth and no pimples...
i was on mercilon pills before my pregnancy. once i stopped having it on that month, i got preg! ( it was a planned one )
=) everything was ok. no wt gain. no pimple. i think its up to individual body on these pills. like some people take certain cough syrup they get well soon but some dont feel the effect, etc.
however, after my delivery( c sect ), i started having this pill back after 2 months. my menses still visit n have brown discharge EVERYDAY! till now. which is 2 months already. im puzzled. dont know if my body system changed after delivery n the pills doesnt work like before or is it normal to be like this.
im stopped eating the pill yesterday n monitoring my flow. went to see GP, they cant answer at all. tsk. so i guess i need to make an appt with my gynae if things doesnt improve....
Delivered my girl on 03 Feb 2011 & my boy on 03 Jan 2013 =)
i used to have this problem too about worried that i might miss the pill.... so i set an alarm to remind me everyday, same time and i left the pills at a place where i will always see before i go to bed....
usually if you missed one, you quickly take it the next morning and continue at nite should not be a problem.. but if you missed 2pills Consecutively then you can junk the whole box away...
I've just gave birth to my 2nd child, baby girl on 11 June.. Checked with my gynae, IUD can be inserted when I go for my postnatal check up on the 6th week.. Was told the charges are at $50+ for copper IUD n $200+ for mirena..
Hi mummies. IUD can be done at the poly which is much much cheaper. IUCD is available at all NHG Polyclinics (except Clementi Polyclinic). The device can last for three years.
For IUCD insertion, please ensure that a Pap smear test has been performed within the past year and result of pap smear test is normal. You are required to bring the Pap smear result along during your visit for the IUCD removal and insertion.
IUCD insertion is to be performed during moderate menstruation flow (i.e. 3rd day of the menses)
The cost of IUCD insertion is$60 for Singaporean, $68 for Permanent Residents and $78 for Non-Residents inclusive of doctor consultation.
I have not decide to go for copper IUD or mirena yet.. Should be going for copper IUD as it's non-hormonal.. Cuz I'm breastfeeding, not sure if the mirena will effect breastmilk.. Will be going for pap smear test 1st then, since have not done it before.. I thought copper IUD will last 3-5yrs? Mirena last 3yrs rite?
Hi, its the copper IUD. Poly they dont hav the Mirena Iud
