Re: does the Dry Shampoo really useful during confinement?

My SIL bought them for me...I tried using them ONCE...and I never use them lagain....I find that although the air is dry not oily but I find that my head SMELLs bad.. because the weather is hot (my kids were due in Jan and Feb time)...and you are bleeding...so I feel very dirty and uncomfortable........hahaha...probably it is just me... I just wash my hair with warm water and have warm bath (with medicated herbs) and use a hair dryer to blow my hair dry.....

Hi,

I also don't know the brand...but I know it's like a sachet..I think you go to any chinese medical hall, you just tell them..for confinement bathing, they will have. Just boil a BIG pot of hot water (depending how much water you need to bath), put the sachet in and soak for a while. Let the water cool a bit and just bath with the water. I was told it helps to reduce wind etc..etc...not sure if it is effective..but since my mum buys them for all my 3 pregnancy.... I just use them...so as not to disappoint her..hahahaha..but at the end of the day..I think hygiene is most important...just make sure you keep yourself clean and fresh. If you are breastfeeding...you will realise ..your breast area smells FISHY....I simply hate the smell...and I always look forward to bath time..to get rid of the FISHY smell..hahahaha

Re: does the Dry Shampoo really useful during confinement?

hahaha..cannot bathe so many times lah...One entitled to bath once a day. I normally bathe in the evening. Remember to make sure you use hair dryer to dry your hair after you finish your bath. According to the old pple, wet hair is no good for woman after giving birth..will have TAO HONG (head wind, translated to english hahaha).....I have got friends who did not heed this advice..now older..find that they often have bad migrane...so i guess........there maybe some truth to it.

Re: does the Dry Shampoo really useful during confinement?

i had the aircon on almost all the time during both my confinements- neither me nor my bbs like the heat. heh the main thing i feel, is to avoid the "chilled" feeling, avoid direct wind, so aircon cannot on too cold and cannot blow straight at u. having the fan on but blowing staright at u is a nono also imo.

no weird aches so far * touch wood*

for dd1, i used the herbal sachet+lemongrass to boil water for bathing. normal soap and shampoo. but i didn't wash my hair for 2 weeks , and didn't bathe for the 1st week-just wiped with wet cloth(!!YUCKS leh). this one was horrible coz it was May and i didn't on the aircon in the afternoons, the moment the aircon went off, i started sweating

for dd2, used the herbal sachet+lemongrass also, bought confinement soap and shampoo from little dreamers. started bathing from day 3-4 and washing hair after 1 week. this one wasn't so yuck coz i stayed in my nice aircon room most of the time and didn't sweat at all :P

Re: does the Dry Shampoo really useful during confinement?

i use it for both confinement, only bought 1 and it last for a mth cos i didin't apply so much. i bath and wash my hair 2nd week using herbal sachet bought at the chinese medical hall. Need to go for checkup and if nvr bath i dare not to go out of the house. After that my next bathe is when celebrate baby's full mth. Though nvr bath but i still clean my breast with a towel everyday before feeding baby.

Re: does the Dry Shampoo really useful during confinement?

hi all,

my bb haven't come out yet but i already arguing with my hubby about the confinement haha.. i told him tat most of the mommy's here still on the aircon and even bathe few weeks after delivery also to keep the hygene.

But he say its all up to me now to decide..

I also tink that after delivery we already in an aircon room in hospital too, even more cooler that house's aircon.. same goes to bb also.. as long as bb stay warm and not getting any direct wind from fan or aircon should be ok.

Anyway I hv stock up few dry shampoo just incase.

Re: does the Dry Shampoo really useful during confinement?

hi,

I used dry shampoo from australia and it helped to keep hair from being oily. only thing spray in bathroom and comb through hair. nothing beats washing hair though, but in confinement guess thats not a good option. I've seen the shampoo available at watsons in cck and bukit panjang now. It something like Klore...n , think its a european brand. quite nice.
