I confuse with something.
If the baby he diarrhea, can I still feeding him with breastmilk?
My baby he drinking soy (stop FM)when he in nanny house, can I feeding him breastmilk when he back to home? Or I should stop feeding him breastmilk?
Any idea what to do?
You'd need to find out why baby has diarrhoea.
Any food allergy?
In my opinion, breastmilk is baby's perfect food.
However, if baby is fed EBM, have to ensure the cleaning, sterilising, expressing, freezing, thawing / warming process is very hygienic.
hi, yes you still can bf your baby. bf is definitely still the best food.
but you need to watch your own diet. no milk intake for you till your baby recovers. I had to change my 3-in-1 coffee mix to soy instead of milk.
Yes, i am feeding him EBM. No new food introduce to him recently.
I sterlising the bottle everyday, everything same as usual. But he start diarrhea since last week, and consult doctor on Monday, but still diarrhea for this 3 days. Some more the doctor give him the antibodic.
Normally how long the diarrhea will stop after the medicine taking?
According to doctor, I should reduce feeding him my breastmilk. So confuse.
One more question, if I drink milk at 9.00am, but i only express my milk on 8.00pm, can I still give him the EBM at night 9.00pm?
Due to working, i only express my breast milk twice a day, early morning (5am) and night (8pm), I wondering will my breast milk become "busuk" if keep too long in my breast?
My dear, breastmilk will never go back if it is inside you.
Antibiotic is very "harmful" for stomach and commonly lead to diarrhoea. Try getting probiotics powder meant for baby from doctor. This helps get the stomach healthier again and stop the diarrhoea. Probiotics (good bacteria) is important after each course of antibiotics, even for adults.
Btw, I think the Dr is not supportive of breastfeeding when he suggested reducing breastmilk intake. I'd seek a second opinion.
The antibiotic is gave by the doctor, doctor required us to complete the antibotic. We also wondering why antibiotic giving to my baby as he only 7 mths old. Is this normal 7 mths old baby take antibotic? Antibiotic will lead to diarrhoea?? Then what should I do?
Yes, I still keep expressing my breastmilk for this 2 days. I gave my baby the soy formula as recommend by the doctor. I afraid my baby he will reject my EBM after I stop give him soy formula.
Mummies, do you know how many days the diarrhea will stop after the medicine? My boy he still poo poo about 3/4 times daily. But i found the smell is different with when he diarrhea. Will still consider LS?
yes, I agree with Mummy to Baby very. Think it's better to seek 2nd opinion. Is this a GP or pediatrician? Seems to me some GP dont really have a good sense of the benefits of breastfeeding. I remembered when I was sick and went to see a GP when I was still breastfeeding my son, the GP actually told me to stop breastfeeding my son for those few days! I was thinking.. NO WAY! Breastmilk has the best antibodies when mummies are not well.
In your case, breastmilk is also still the best for your baby. Why ask you to switch to soy FM when you are still bf? Plus, antibiotics?! My son had diarrhoea a couple of times, but his pediatrician never gave that to him ever.
Try to give him the 'newer' EBM, those that you didnt had any diary products.
I brought my son see pediatrician, not GP. I also very confuse when the pediatrician told me to reduce or better stop feeding EBM to my son.
OK. I will feeding my son with my fresh breast milk tonight and see how his situation, if no, then I will search 2nd opinion.
Thanks you mummies.
Hope my son can recover soon.
I just noted your mentioning on soy formula. Soy is actually an allergen and should not be given to babies until 9-12 months. And need to give in small amount, gradually, as in any new food we feed baby.
The exception is in a small percentage of babies who are not breastfed and cannot take usual formula milk made from cow's milk.
My boy is allergic to soy, so i came to learn about this.
Suddenly changing baby's diet to soy milk can easily turn his young digestive system upside down. Moreover, he's taking antibiotics, which weakens the stomach.
Yes, do give fresh breastmilk to baby. It's safest and best for him. Take care!
