I delivered my boy May 2007 but my deposit is only $600 for 4-bedded.
My friend delivery her boy with Doc Lawrence Ang also and he was really consider cheaper coz she only took out about 1k cash, and she op for natural but end up otherwise so was charge for both. My doc was also consider very reasonable Doc Adrian Woodworth and hear fr the hospital he is quite well known, so my 2nd child due in Jun we went back to him.
i notice a lot of raves about Thomson Medical Center for maternity.... even in other forums...
i am not pregnant yet.. just surfing to find out the info... so one day if pregnant..prepared oredi...haha!
anyway, Thomson Medical Center sounds good... but i wonder if the bill will be alot... if we opt to go for Thomson Medical Center, do the nurses explain what we have to pay cash and thru medisave when we go there for consultation?
Just to share..
Recently my friend's cousin's wife gave birth at Thomson Medical Center.
She helped me asked about the fee... Her cousin's wife chose 2 bedded, induce birth with epidural. Total about $4k ++ and they paid a total of $2.5K in cash..
hmm i dont know how much others paid but I always thought private hospital can use medisave about 50% of the bill?? But it doesn't seems to be that case for my friend's cousin. =)
recently my frenz's wife just gave birth @ Thomson Medical Center, the bill hit $7K plus pay about $4K in cash. Stay @ 4-bedded plus natural w epi. Heard from my frenz the bill shown the small item ( around $500) his wife use during the stay... stay 2 day only
My friend delivered in Mt. Alvernia, 4 bedded, her case is induced birth end up baby dont't want to come out than no choice got to C-section with GA, she told me her total bill is about 5k - 6k and fork out less than 2k cash ..
painkillers, maybe she took much... or the cottons etc..
if you only use that the gave you as in the package it wont be much.. its like hotel stay... take things from fridge will charge...
yes, all hospital same, ger-mummy is right... natural + E-c section will be charged as both cos the labour ward and op room is being used already whethe baby out anot...
CTG is charged by hour (Thomson Medical Center and Kandang Kerbau Hospital same) so the faster you deliver the more you save.
labour room Thomson Medical Center charge per day, Kandang Kerbau Hospital charge per hour.
$800 is for 4-bedded.
If you take 2-bedded or single then its diff
i also heard from my family dr that Thomson Medical Center will charge for those small items if we over-use...that's y i bought a pack of maternity pad & pamper pampers 4 my coming baby, just in case overshoot usage from the hospital...buy outside alot more cheaper ...
so when due that day, gota pack diapers & maternity pads as well ...
Gave birth @ Thomson Medical Center on 27/04/09
Mine was normal delivery but assisted with vacuum @ 4 bedded ward.
I stayed for 1 extra day. The standard pkge is 2 days.
Total: $2850.25 (inclusive of *doc's delivery fee, labour ward svcs, medicine, use of equipment, ante-natal care fees, extra day accommodation)
After medisave deduction: $250.25
*doc's delivery fee: $937 was paid when I was @ 32 weeks.
Total: $1017.68 (inclusive of medicine, doctor services, pediatrician's visits)
After medisave deduction: $235.98
So after all the medisave deductions, by right I should pay $486.23 ($250.25+ $235.98).
But since I've paid the $800 deposit upon admission, there's a credit balance of $313.77 ($800-$486.23), which they will be returning back to me in cheque.
Hope this info will help those mommies who will be delivering @ Thomson Medical Center soon!
*p/s. I didn't get the auto-upgrade to 2-bedded like most ppl do cos' the 4-bedded room was totally unoccupied when I was warded. But I was luckier in the sense, coz my hubs got to stay with me me overnight since we were the only ones in the room. Only single-bedded wards will allow the hubbies to stay overnight.
thanks for your info, urs is assist delivery with vacuum but any epi?
I thought doc charge can be claim fr medisave also?
