Hi! I was wondering if anyone knows how to get a passport for a newborn. I am a singapore citizen . What documents do i need and is it faster to do this online as i am residing overseas.
Hi! I am due in june and will be giving birth in bali as my parents are there. So basically to apply for my childs passport all i need is her bc? That's easily done. Are there any other documents required?? I didn't know there was an embassy in Hongqiao. I have looked up online too but i didn't see this. Am still new to shanghai.

If you give birth in Bali, do you have info on where to get the BC done? you will need to go to Embassy in Indonesia to get the baby's birth cert done there and the passport as well before you can even fly out from Bali to anywhere with baby...
your baby cant travel w/o a passport at all. so if you give birth in Bali, you would need to get his/her BC and passport all done in Bali before you can leave Indonesia....think you better try to find the Embassy there to do both..
Thanks you for the info. I have already contacted the singapore embassy in jakarta. Waiting for their reply. I will get her bc dome in bali and will most probably have to fly to JKT to pick up her passport. A little bit of a drag but ti has to be done.
good good...good luck!
i am also due on 1st june but travelling back to SG to give birth to save all that hasstle...
I would love to go back to s'pore to give birth and save all the hassle too but i dont't really have any place to stay there anymore. Just found out it'll take 2-3mths to get her citizenship and passport. Which is very long! Which hospital will you be delivering in s'pore? Are you going for natural or c-section?
This is according to the singapore embassy in Jakarta. May i know the cost at mount elizabeth hospital? I might reconsider giving birth in bali.
its about SGD580+ for 2-bedder, CPF deductable up to SGD350+ or so i think..
the reason why i am rushing to ICA to get her passport and BC done immediately after i discharge is because i am going to bring her back to Shanghai after her full month..i work in Shanghai and so she has to travel with me...
mmmm.......that's good to know. I might do the same after all....lol What documents do you need to have for the birth of your child? Just your ic and your husbands and marriage cert? Sorry...i have all these questions.
yup, your IC and marriage cert. you can register for BC directly at hospital also but for passport you need to go to ICA. So since you need to go to ICA, might as well do both there? If you go to ICA, dont forget the papers the hospital gave you for birth of your newborn, together with your ICA and your marriage cert. Bring Hubby too..LOL
This sounds so much easier then doing it in bali. thks you have helped me make up my mind...now i'll just have to find a cheap apartment to rent out for a month. )
glad to be able to be of some help!
Good luck and have fun with the pregnancy...i am going for checks at American-Sino in SHA and Dolly Wee at Mt E in SG..sometimes i check up in SHA, sometimes in SG. if you need a obgyn in Shanghai, i would recommend Doc Qiu at American-Sino. They are on the more costly side but very good and english speaking docs and nurses.
Their info below if you need:

I am also going to american-sino here, my doc's name is Mdm Zu. It is expensive!! We def need to meet! LoL My next appointment is for my glucose test which is ont he 16th of march.
HA! i just failed my 1hr test and did my 4hr test yesterday...phew..was a false alarm coz i passed the 4hr test! my next appt is 18th March for my 30 weeks scan..!
you are darn right it is expensive! i did all my tests at 13 weeks (including the Early Genetic Screening) and it wiped me off of RMB8500!
good luck on your glucose test..trick is to fast 12 hours before the test.dont take your vits before you go in..otherwise you might fail like me (i took my vits despite them telling me not to) and fail (7.94mmol/l, normal is 7.8)...
Yes! we should definitely meet! PM me your contact no.!
When is the latest you can fly out?
So, i am trying to sneak back around 36 weeks with doc's certification........i have heard of people flying all the way till their 37th week..so..as long as doc certifies you to fly, the airline will take you...
Hey..if you are going to be in SHA on april 16th, go register for Singapore Day at Century Park. i am going with a whole bunch of Singaporeans who are working here...theres free hawker food, Kit Chan and lotsa fun.
its free for all Singaporeans... www.singaporeday.com.sg
hey, that sounds like a whole lotta fun!! I miss the hawker food!! LOL
Just wondering...do locals and foreigners have different rates at Mount E?
