I would like to know anyone take leave or start their maternity leave before their EDD? How many days in advance should it be? My EDD is on 31 Oct.
my wife have not reach that stage yet so not sure. her EDD is 5-Dec.
i read that it is actually good to continue to work until the final hour. if take leave too early then stay at home become couch potato not good for smooth delivery also.
depends on individual...some can tolerate towards the end..some cun...my scheduled c-section is on the 28th aug...im taking leave frm 27th aug onwards...unless baby decides to come out earlier..
I am thinking 1 week before edd also. Then work from home for a week prior to that, cus worried that I may feel too swollen to walk around by then. Already feeling tiring easily now & I still have 40+ days to go...
How early you have inform your company when you want to start ML?
my colleague advises me to take HL before edd... then use ML after delivery coz will be very tired and time will pass very fast...
I am taking 2 weeks of annulal leave before EDD. just to rest and relax at home...
My EDD is 15 Nov but will be having c-sect 2 to 3 weeks before that... Informed my company a few mths ago that I wish to start my ML on 1 Oct so they can arrange for replacement. It turned out to be it's a good thing I informed them earlier cos my replacement only came in last week (had been trying to get somebody since June). At least now I have 1 and a half month to hand-over and maybe I can even clear my AL before my ML if the replacement can pick up real fast... Was hoping that I can do all my shopping which I find too tiring to do when still working and probably can also rest well before my surgery...

all depends on you...i think 2 weeks before will be quite reasonable esp if its your 1st..you need to pack and relax a bit and see if there's anything else to buy.. but of cos depending on few factors like:
- your job nature (if you need to make certain arrangements)
- no. of annual leave to be cleared by year end (esp when your baby is a year end baby): companies do not allow you to ``mix'' annual leave and maternity leave ....mat. leave has to start latest on the DOB of the baby...
- your physical health (if you not feeling too well..take more leave in advance, if not go ahead to work more)
for me: i very kiasu this time, as i m really very stressed out...my first kid is only 20 mths old..gotta make some arrangements before the 2nd one popping...furthermore my tummy super big like a beach ball..feel tired attending the numerous meetings/ trainings when I am still at work...got 30 days leave to clear this year anyway...so thats it...i took my well deserved leave!
I take 3weeks before my EDD, mid of Sept.. and counting down.. 8more days to go
Oh, what if the baby comes out earlier or later? do we have to reapply the maternity leave or company will help to adjust accordingly?
Thanks for sharing
hi summerp mummy, mine is also from Kandang Kerbau Hospital... should not be any prob coz i think my gyane quite nice... she always asked me whether i want mc or not whenever i go for my monthly checkup... but everytime i said no need coz i took leave...
I have no idea about mine yet... will wait closer to the date and see what gynae says. Cos for my first child, was asked to go in to hospital to induce on a particular date. So if it's going to be similar case, I'll probably work till the last day possible, haha.
Hi ther.. My EDD 2dec but i taking my ML on 1 Oct onwards.. I was told rest more while i can before i give birth cos after birth hardly can have a good sleep..Well it depend on individual.. =)
