some aunties in my office are quite negative on c-sect which i dont know y. when they know im doing C-sec, they make strange remarks like aiyo y do c-sect? iszit you cannot go natural? to me, this is my personal choice, nothing to do with them so i dont bother to explain to them also, i just smile & said aiya now c-sec is very common & safe, now my era different from your era aunty! reali cant stand them, what has it got to do with them whether i do c-sec or not. mad!
Now, i'm thinking of how to "ans" to my hubby's relatives during baby's full month cos they sure will keep asking "why why why"
BUT there still have some ppl kinda "object"... esp when close friends asked me y i give up the chnace for natural birth... Some ppl feel that Natural birth and being a good mother is a "package"... I was feeling depress at the point of time... But my mum, hubby, cousin told me that "whether you're a good mother is not depend on whether you choose to give birth naturally or c-sect, it's how you bring up and educate the baby"
giving birth by c-sect doesn't mean the mother is very relax... Ya, we cant feel the labour pain when giving birth but we do feel the "post-delivery" pain longer than normal delivery... So I also dont understand why some ppl feel still feels that mothers who choose elective c-sect are not as "wei da" as normal delivery...
btw, you choosing GA or epidural??
im also same as you, thinking how to answer relatives if they ask y do c-sect during baby full month. i dont even know how to tel my mum also...
you koe , actually most gynes prefer to do c-sec cos they can earn + timing they can arrange also(this is what 1 of my close colleague told me).
& funny thing is even my gyne also asked me Y i opt for c-sect, i find it rather strange y he ask me tis question, so i told him is my personal choice. when i told my gf that my gyne asked me this question, she said bcos now the trend is to give birth natural without epidural, c how the mum can endure the pain!
Actually, there's no need to explain too much. Just say baby was breeched so need C section. They won't question so much.
wanna c how the mum can endure the pain? i wonder which pervert is that who start the trend!!!
your mum object c-sect? have you try talking to her before??
i once thought my mum will object cos she's abit old fashion but to my surprise, she not only didnt object but quite supportive...
breech baby means the baby head is up... my baby everytime turn up and down... turn down stilll can turn up ... *faint*
gynae prefer natural cos it has certain health benefits to both mother n child. C-section to them is like for 'emergency' or in 'undesirable' conditions only.
i know of some gynaes who prefer c-section cos they can plan their schedule (natural birth is so unpredictable ).
about the trend, my gf said is true , even 1 of my another gf who gave birth last fri, followed this trend but lucky she was in labour 4.5hrs only & she also did not take epidural. so i guess this trend is still IN
ya...coz some feel that after natural birth, errmm...down there will become loose....hahaha...then , ermmmm...hubby doesnt like... hahaha.... so they rather opt for c-sect... no offence okie...
both my two births r c-sect.... my 1st birth, baby's head still quite high up..tried too long for natural birth (almost 13hrs ) gynae said better c-sect for baby's sake so got to sign all the papers n operated on ...those aunties ask long n short .... but dont care ... side-track abit, can you feel your skin/ flesh being cut, tear open while being operated on? my 1st one i cant feel..mayb too tired ...my 2nd one, i can feel ...the feeling wasnt very pleasant...
it's common for older people to think that c-sect is not a good choice. cos during their time, only those got serious problem went for it, so they see it as some kind of surgery. lucky for me my mum encourage me to go c-sect cos she dont't want me to suffer labour and damage down there. she even told me a secret, that she went for vaginal reconstruction after giving birth naturally 4 times. so she told me better go c-sect cos that plastic surgery will cost even more, lol. guess my mum is a rare type. i have also made up a reason cos my relatives definately kay poh asking why go c-sect, will just tell them my gynae will go on long trip (Dec 09 baby) and i want him to deliver for me.
I also went ahead with C-sect, cos my dear son's head measure to 10.1cm in diameter when I'm at my week of 39 and there's no sign of contraction and anything. Hence, Gynae suggested me to go for C-sect. husband, in laws and my family are very supportive so I got no prob on these.
Can check with you, you opt for C-sect with GA or Epidural? Cos you said that can feel your skin being cut or tear open while being operated on. I tink I'll go mad if I really can feel my skin or flesh bring cut. Hence, I opt for C-sect with GA.
You must be feeling terrible when you can sense the cutting . But you are brave, mummy! If I were you, i tink i'd have faint .
initially wanna choose epidural but gave up in the end... cos gynae say epidural will cause backache for a few days (for most ppl)... the wound alrdy so pain still backache, tsk tsk...
and like you, i so scare to "feel" the cutting so i choose GA... one thing good for epidural is, you can BF baby right after that and hubby can get to see... BUT what if hubby faint inside before baby comeout?? LOL!
btw, after you wake up from GA, will straight away feel pain??? is the pain unbearable?? when you can start sitting up or walk?? hehe...

Olden ppl prefer natural tats why they will b negative over c-section ~ In fact my mom in law aso pretty against c-sect for both my pregnancies but who cares coz after all we r the 1 who is giving birth n been cut NOT them~
well medically speaking c-sect is a surgery and any form of surgery carries with it certain risks. And gynaes being our doctors have to advise what is the safest for us. If all is well, then of course a natural delivery will be safer compared to c-sect.
Personally speaking, I went thru both natural and c-sect both under epidural. And if I have a 3rd kid, it will be c-sect. However, there was a slight complication during my procedure that warranted my doctor ordering 3 pints of blood on standby. Apparently, when he made the incision, he cut a vessel as well which led to more blood loss then normal. Normally there should not have been a vessel there but who knows. So these are the risks of surgery.
As to having to explaining to relatives or others why you went for c-sect, just tell them baby was not in the right position for natural birth.
i'm going to c-sect on soon... very scare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
for my 2nd birth, i GA c-sect but can still feel some tearing n tugging of my skin/ flesh.... before they operate, they did some test to chk if i was numb. i really like numb-numb mah..dont know y still can feel it...
dont worry..everything will b fine... i didnt pack anything during my 2births... i ask my hubby to bring along if i need anything coz most of the things r provided mah...unless you want to shower n want to use your own toiletries.. otherwise you can wear watever you r wearing when you go to the hospital back hm..shld you need extra sanitary pads, can buy there...
one impt thing, do remember to get a new set of clothing for your newborn when baby discharge.. even if baby is allowed to wear the hospital's provided one hm.. change for baby before he leaves the hospital..i dont know ..old folks said is like to welcome baby hm ...hahaha..
i tink tell her before you c-sect.
i told my mum when i was due for c-sect so she told me try not to take chicken after my operation.. you know , sometimes after op, cannot take tis cannot take that... c-sect takes a longer time to heal/ recover than natural birth so certain things better take extra care.
