Re: dr benjamin tham wai lum

Hi,

I just gave birth last week under Dr Benjamin Tham WL. He is a very very nice doctor and he is pro natural. Throughout all my consultations with him, he is nice and friendly and always very reassuring. It is hard to talk about whether or not he speeds things up during delivery cos it should be on a case to case basis.

For me, I have told him that I die die dont't want C-sec. But in the end, I opt for C-sec due to 30 over hours in delievery suite but cervix only dilated 4cm. I couldn't stand lying down anymore due to the weight and also I was there for induction actually. So after talking to him, I decided to go for emergency C-sec. I was pushed into the operating theatre at about 6:30pm. My baby was born at 6:43pm. My incision was also perfectly sewn... It looks like nothing ever happened before. And the best part, I didnt feel any pain even after the epidural has subsided. I was discharged 2 days later. Most C-sec would have to stay for 4-5 days. I only stayed 2 nights.

So I really recommend Dr Benjamin Tham WL, and I must thank him BIG TIME for making my first pregnancy and first delivery a very joyful one.

Doc Tham is a very good doc, but he cannot always be around ... He does check on me from time to time. It seems like he no need to sleep one. 7am already I see him standing at my bed... I thought I was dreaming... and he already look very awake and very ready for the day's battle.

He did not encourage me for the emergency c-sec. He told me that I can still choose to wait for the dilation. But he leave the decision up to me since I already complaining that I cannot tahan the long hours of lying in bed. So I chose c-sec.

ok, i'm glad that he didn't ask you for the c-section, i can conclude that he's not the type want to 'speed' things up.

oh.... definitely not. He is very patient... He doesnt rush into things and he is always kind and reassuring. He is also very responsible... I was in the hospital for induction actually. So the nurses could have inserted the prostin tablet for me. But Doc Tham came to check on me and also did the prostin insertion personally.

Re: dr benjamin tham wai lum

During my check up from 34th week onwards, Dr Tham already told me that my baby is quite big so he wants me to control my food intake as well as do some exercise. However, I am not eating alot at all (I can't even finish one normal serving at foodcourts), and due to the weight I am carrying, already find it hard to walk, how to exercise?

Then on 37th week check up, baby already at 3.5kg. So if I wait till baby wanna make her own appearance, she might be too big and difficult for natural birth. And I have always pestered Dr Tham for induction cos I cannot sit around and wait for things to happen. I need to have control of situations, if not I would surely lose my footing... lol... But to Dr Tham, induction can only be performed for medical reasons. And having a big baby happens to allow me to choose induction option. So we went for it.

What is the weight of your baby at 32 weeks? Mine was 1.8kg & Dr Tham already asked me to watch my diet, but i only indulge infrequently ice-cream.

BTW when you call him is it via his DID?

Re: dr benjamin tham wai lum

I can't remember my baby's weight at 32 weeks... lol...

I do not have his DID ... His name card only has the hospital number so I call to leave a message to call me back. So far, I only needed to look for him twice... Once was in my first trimester when there was blood in my vomit. But when he called me back after he was attending to a delivery, I have already gone to KK 24 hours clinic, so no issue there. The second time was after my delivery and discharge , I realised the dressing of my wound done by the nurses has a small air-pocket, I just wanted to make sure that it is not gonna affect my wound due to perspiration moist. He never call me back but it is due to something very personal on his side which is not nice for me to say here... So I spoke to the nurses in the ward that I was staying... So no issue there also.

Oh, I also indulge in ice cream... gallons of them... lol

I think Dr Tham was just being very cautious.. 1.8kg should be alright.. When i was in my 32 weeks, baby was about 2.4kg... Dr Tham also asked me to watch out my diet...Me i eat lots of ice-cream, chocolates and chocolate cakes every week...
I did called for Dr Tham via the hospital due to a heavy discharge and yes he did called me in less than 15 mins though it was after office hours..
