Delivered my #1 and #2 at Mt A. My #2 was normal w/o epi. Just delivered my #3 via normal w/o epi at Thomson Medical Center in Jan. My experience and stay with MT A what a pleasant one for both my 2 stay there. The nurses were friendly and professional. The wards are nice even for 4 bedded. Unlike Thomson Medical Center. Stayed in 2 bedded and the ward was rather old and the air condition wasnt really working. Couldn't feel the
air Conditioning though I set it at 18 degree. In the end, I decided to discharge 1 day earlier. My stay at Thomson Medical Center wasn't a pleasant one. not only was the ward not up to expectation, my encounter with the security guard, the admin personnel and the mid wives at Thomson Medical Center wasnt good too. Regretted not choosing Mt A for my #3.

I delivered at mt A last Dec...assisted (vacuum) with epi. Took the single deluxe room, as they were out of the normal single rooms.
Bill was about 4k+ (including doctor's fees), deducted via medisave and paid 2k+ cash.

The nurses were very caring and attentive...overall had a very good stay there. Food was good too...was fed non stop, i felt lol

I delivered last Oct at mt A. Normal delivery with epi ajd stayed for 3D2N in single deluxe room. Cash payment is 4k plus almost 5k including gynae fees. Service was good, the nurses are friendly and helpful however the downside was the carpark.

yes carpark is irritating.. service is very good! i kept pressing the bell for everything like just to off the lights.. if you are breastfeeding, the nurses will help baby to latch on everytime.. i just delivered in Feb.. normal w epi 2 bed.. cash 3+, medi 1+..

there are lactation consultants in mount A that can help you latch on when you breastfeed your baby.. not sure if other hospitals have that service also...

Mt A is under massive renovation now, so now the car park is a prob, but they are offering valet parking so shouldn't be an issue.
I went the hospital tour last week, some of the wards are quite old and very diff from the pics on their website. But that's not the main concern also .. haha
    going to choose single room.

My friend went there and was told to park her car at McRitchie Reservoir... so the parking situation could be rather bad....

Mount Alvernia - Feedbacks anybody? Maternity experiences?

Hi all, I delivered my daughter & son in Mt A. Decided to continue with Mt A as they left me with good impression during my stay after delivering my daughter. The nurses actually brought me cold cabbage to curb my breast engorement.

My son was just delivered in Feb 13. I must say that the nurses and lactation consultant were all very nice, caring and helpful. They would always attend to you whenever you press the assistance bell. They would answer all your queries and will also help your baby to latch on properly. During your stay, if there is parent craft talk, you could also attend without paying any extra fee.

I stayed in a deluxe single room for 4 days and the room bill was about 5k. Excluding gynae fee. Hubby stayed overnight with me. They could cater meals for hubby for $75 per day. The meals were pretty delicious (according to him).

Parking was slightly a problem. There is valet parking but if all lots are taken up, you could park at McRitchie Reservoir. They provide free shuttle bus to n fro. Waiting time is less than 10mins. Its pretty convenient.

My gynae is Dr H.K Ho n he's pretty popular at Mt A. Paid him additional fee (a few thousand) as I opt for Cesarean Epi at horoscopic timing. He is very good n experience. With his skill, I could get up to walk around on my 2nd day after surgery. And the wound stitches were nicely done up. My scar is not obvious at all.

Overall Mt A still gave me very good impression as compare to Thomson Medical Center.

    Hope the infor are useful

Hi Leomaiden, this info is very useful, usually you mention about nurses and lactation consultant helping you with breastfeeding. As a 1st time mum, i m totally clueless on how to latch baby.
