Hi all, I will be having a c section delivery by dr. John yam who delivers at both gleneagles n Mt A in jan 2013.Not sure whether to take 1bedder at Mt A or 2 bedder at gleneagles? Can anyone advise the pros and cons of 1 bed or 2 bed apart from the cost difference? Much appreciated!! Thanks!!!
I am also going to delivered by John Yam on 30 May. I am still deciding if we should go for 1 or 2 bedder. Can advise end up what did you choose? What does it include and also what was the bill size and cash payment involved?
you posted the question in Nov. Just curious how come you know you will be having c-sec so early? Was it painful, can you feel a thing when he was performing the surgery? Please advise.
Hi extensa74, I gave birth on 19th Jan 2013 with Dr. John Yam. Mine was an elective C-Section. hehe..reason i knew so early is because from day 1, i chose to have a c sect, cause I'm generally scared of pain and didn't want to go through a natural birth, and cause recently so many of my friends choose a natural birth and end up with an emergency c sect, which is so much scarier..anyway, it was great and John Yam was really good..best decision i made..I checked in at 9am, got ready and was pushed into the operating theatre at 12pm. 10 min later..baby was out.. and half an hour later, I was all stitched up and pushed back to my room. Felt a bit of pain at night, but not from the stitches, instead the pain was from the uterus contracting, which you will feel even through natural birth. But i was given normal panadol and the pain went away. Next day, I forced myself to get up and walk and although there is a bit of tingling pain when you bend down to go to the toilet, but it is definitely bearable, trust me, I am someone who cannot take pain.. =) Anyway, 1 week later, I was okay..even took a bus back to Ipoh, Malaysia with my mum and baby where I carried out the rest of my confinement! =)
As for the hospital costs, I decided to choose 2 bedder to start, and if I really didnt like it, I would change to 1 bedder after the 1st night, and in the end I was totally happy with it! Do make a special request to choose a window bed..so that you have more privacy cause you can keep the curtains open and only your own visitors will walk to you and also you can watch tv easier without people walking past you to the bed inside. My bill size was 4 days 3 nights, total cost was $6,867.05. Medisave claimed $3950.00. But My son was down with jaundice on the day that we were meant to discharge, so ended up paying another $1400 to tan my son and for me to board for 1 more day. One suggestion is that on the 2nd day or 3rd day, if you see your baby has slight jaundice, ask to put him for tanning straightaway so that there will not be any additional cost for you or your baby!
=) Hope I answered your question! Do let me know if you need any other info!
What is a elective c-sec? Does it means you will be on full GA and your hubby won't get to see the process? At what week is your baby born? Did you make the booking via Jackie (his nurse) or via the admission counter? So your bill of $6867, does it include the $1400 you mentioned? I am hoping for natural birth but i am just so scared of pain!!! my pain tolerance level is ZERO lol...
Also does your bill size of $6867 includes, gynae fees, pediatrician doc and aesthetic doctor fees? At the 2 bedder, do you get destructed by your neighbour esp when when baby cries and either of you wanna breast feed? How is the food?
Hi, elective means I chose it myself. I went for a half body anesthetic, so I was awake but I couldn't feel from my stomach down. The injection in the back was not pain at all as the needle is smaller than a strand of hair. After getting me ready, my husband was allowed to stay with me throughout the birth. I made the initial booking with dr yam n Jackie and she gave me all the documents to bring down to the admissions to register for a pre admission. My bill of 6867 does not include the 1400, which is why I suggest that if you see your baby has slight yellow, then tan him or her early to save unnecessary costs ! yeah I know about the pain tolerance, I am the same..haha that's y I chose c section. But I'm sure there r those who feel that natural is not that pain so the decision is based on the individual. at the end of the day, once you see your baby, you will forget about all your pain! during pregnancy, I told myself that I will not have another child after my son cause my pregnancy was really tough.. But after seeing him, I would consider having more kids..haha.. The 6867 includes everything.. As for being disturbed, actually it was okay for me. My neighbors baby was quite quiet, and so was my son, eat n sleep..not much noise.. Instead there was a baby in the next room that was screaming very loud..but no choice..different rooms...Tv also won't be noisy cause the speakers is attached to the control next to your bed. So you cannot hear other ppls tv etc. breastfeeding was okay..it was easier for me cause I was in the bed next to the window so no ppl except my own wld walk in...that's y I suggest that you request for it if you choose 2 bedder. That's another good thing about elective c sec, you choose the time n day for delivery so they can prepare the beds for you earlier. Hehe.. Food was fantastic! I chose their confinement food..really good!! N their free foow red date drink was not too bad..
