This is a discussion on Baby Farting & other matters within the Newborn Baby and Infant Care (up to 12 months old) forum, part of the Growing Up & Parenting category; Hi all, I know this is a disgusting topic but I need to know... anyone of your baby farts alot ...
I know this is a disgusting topic but I need to know... anyone of your baby farts alot (and I mean ALOT)? Is it normal? My gal farts pratically all the time... I am worried it might be a medical condition of somekind.
Also, can I know how we can clean baby's nose? I get very disturbed when I feed her and I can see one big piece of "pi sai" there, but I dont know how to get it out... I bought the suction thingy but it doesnt work.
How about passing motion? I realise that these few days, my girl only pass motion once in two days... Should I be concerned? I am feeding her breast milk and FM cos my breast milk not enough
my girl used to fart alot too. sometimes even in her sleep lol. worse thing.. sometimes in the cab! then i so pai seh cos i worry the taxi driver thought im the one who fart..lol
for nose.. i clear her nose daily.. cos she always got pi sai there n i also cant tahan looking at it. she hate having her nose clear though.. i tried the suction thing n yes it dosent work n sucking too often is not good for baby's nose also my pediatrician says.. what i did is i bought a pigeon tweezer http://www.amazon.com/Baby-Cleaning-.../dp/B000FI0HUU . its use to clip the pi sai out. but got to be extra careful not to poke too deep . later injured their delicate nose.. there is another pigeon cotton bud which has some sticky substance on one end.. you can simply push the sticky bud inside, then pull out. usually pi sai comes out altogether. very convenient n easy to use but i prefer the tweezer cos the bud is thicker n clipper very thin..

she fidgets alot when I try to use cotton bud so Im not gonna force it.. Im scared... haha... But last night when she sleep, she sounded like she's having a blocked nose, when I look up her nostril, only got that pi sai still there, no mucus. So I wonder why she sound like that. Should I bring her to pediatrician? Abit too gan jeong right? Since there is no signs of illness.
Happy Birthday to Jun Xian!
My boy used to fart alot too. I was never concern with that because I though it is a good ting. At least, he dont keep the wind in his tummy and has tummy ache.
As for the pi sai, I just tear paper and fold it into a stick shape. I made sure the end is not sharp to poke him. At the same time, when he turn... the paper will be bend, so it will not hurt him.
i used to be afraid of clearing also then always bring her to pediatrician then some pediatrician clear for me, some just tell me its ok dont care it. leave it alone. then i tell them my girl seems to have difficulty sleeping cos of the nose then they say... its the parents who have difficulty with babies blocked nose. babies dosent have any difficulties with it.. lol. but anyway i dont think my girl feels comfy with blocked nose cos its hard to drink milk as well... so i clear for her myself daily. she hates her nose to be cleared n always cry so i need to distract her with her toys while i clear.. but at times she dosent get distracted n keep crying so bo bian i jsut got to continue clearing.. even if she cry, i got to pin her down n clear it for her lol. what to do? its for her own good..
cotton bud sometimes not good cos you might end up pushing the pi sai deeper.. unless you are using the pigeon's cotton bud with one end sticky sticky . that one will stick the pi sai out. or like i say.. use tweezer.. also pigeon's. ive been clearing my girl's nose daily for 7mth! lol
Hmmm... then maybe I should bring my girl to meet one of you (brave mummies) who dares to clean the nose. lol...
my baby also used to fart a lot especially in the earlier months. think she got a lot of gas inside and she even farts when sleeping LOL. now that she is 5 months its slightly better. it may help if you try to massage her tummy, not directly in front where the navel is but sort of like massage from back towards front of the tummy and downwards. my malay massage lady taught me that coz i told her my baby got so much wind . anyway it will get better as she grow older.
as for the nose, i used the slight skinnier cotton bud to clean the nose if i see the pi sai. at first also abit scared coz she will move, but after a while you'll get use to it. not always successful but you will get it . when using the bud, just enter the nostril and then twist the bud (not pushing) since that would push the dirt in further. if on that day you try still cannot get it out, then just close eyes and tahan a bit as it may come out on its own sometimes LOL. when i use the bud and twist around her nostril, my bab will sometimes sneeze hahahah....must be ticklish ...poor gal hahaha. actually at times it helps when she sneeze than can get the dirt out easier!
My baby fart anytime anywhere. Drinking milk also farting.
Try use cotton bud clean nose after bath. Softer and sticky so easier to clean.
my boy hates it when i wanna clean his pi sai. he hear the word 'pi sai' he'll scream n run far far far!
what i do is if it's quite deep, rub the side of the nose in circular motion to make it move out, then just use tissue to grab it out
My baby is only one month old... so I will wipe her face with the damp bath cloth during bathing time... So her nose will still be dry even after shower mah... Anyway, the pi sai is still there... sigh... i try to make her sneeze so many times but still never eject it out. This morning, she sounded like she having very very blocked nose... then after a while, she sound normal again... dont know if she really having blocked nose or not... sigh...
i think they mean after shower the pi sai will soften due to the water vapour in the shower room hehe.
my girl sometimes pi sai is those sticky type n sometimes is those dry type so cotton bud cannot remove.. have to use tweezer to clip it out cos its dry... got to pull out..
when it comes to farting, its alot of wind.. my massage lady told me to use my thumb after bathing to press on the tummy downwards softly to 'get rid'of the wind.. it helps to use 'yu yee' oil for my baby.. i heard that baby got alot of wind bcos when mummy was pregnant, she cld have taken alot of cold stuffs... massage really helps , n make sure drg feeding burp him too.. n when bottle feeding dont allow so much air into baby tog w milk... somehow it will stop a few mths later,
hehe i took cold drinks daily when preggy! my baby got lots of wind. burp, fart...lol. but then she dosent get tummy ache due to that. i helped her massage everyday when she was younger. now that she is older i stopped it.
I see... I also consumed alot of cold stuff when I was preggy... haha... no wonder ...
hmm. after reading the messages, realise i am not the only one with baby farting a lot. At first i thought it will be so embarrassing esp when she enters the infant care in june. now then i know is normal for babies to fart.
