When shld i start to train my baby to sleep thru the night maybe after a last feed at 12mn?
He is cumin 7wks old n is still waking up every 3hrs for milk in the night, is it appropriate? Feeding him 90ml of milk now as he is having phlegm n cough, so the doc actually told us to decrease the feeding amt to prevent him fr puking out.
I didn't specially train my son. Just keep to the same schedule every night so that he knows it's night time and time to sleep. For the longest time, my son woke up every 2 to 3 hours for milk. Then around 5 to 6 months, he'd be able to sleep 5 to 6 hours before going back to needing milk every 3 hours. Now he's 9 months already and most of the time he sleeps through the night.
i would say sleep training should be after 6mths. baby before 6mths still needs night feed to grow unless they themselves wanna sleep through. my girl was waking up every 2-3hrs too at night till about 2mths old.. then she can sleep 4-5hrs(only some nights) and then slowly around 4mths she started sleeping 6-8hrs (ocasionally only. maybe 1-2 times a week or so) then at 5.5mths she started to sleep through the night(waking up at 5-6am for milk once and sleep again till 7-8am). then at 6mths started waking up every 2hrs again dont know y for 2-3 weeks.. n then now back to the waking up only in the morning at 5-6am for milk once at 7.5mths. she sometimes still wakes around 2-3am dont know y(maybe once a week)
not sure if you gals consider me lucky?
my dear daughter is just 4months+, started to sleep thru out.
she can sleep fm 8pm till next day 5am. i am worried so i wake her up like midnight to feed her. the next feed she wakes up at 6am
nowadays i feed my girl around 11pm, she sleep n wake up 4 milk around 6pm
if i feed her 1am, she sleep n wake around 9am or 10am..
at 1mth 3 weeks old?????
Each baby is different. My first boy keeps asking for milk in the night till 2 years old, my girl started to sleep through the night from 2 weeks old and my current baby who is a month old still waking up 3 times for milk.
2 weeks??? wow... envy... n she never got up due to teething, milestone, sickness n all? i heard some bbs once sleep through the night they wont get up unless really sick. but teething n milestone dosent seem to bother them... so envy...
no, she didnt wake up after that due to teething, milestone, sickness and all. Really missed those days..
wow.. you another one making me envious lol. my girl have not sleep through the night but then even so, she sometimes suddenly wake up every 2hrs or so.. maybe due to growth sprut or what i also not too sure. even growth sprut your girl also dont wake ? my friend's kids also.. so envy man..
anyway, many ppl say they miss those days when they feed baby in the middle of the night n i feel they are crazy cos can sleep now then they miss the time when they cant sleep well at night lol. but somehow i understood this recently cos my girl is sleeping longer stretches .. i sometimes also feel i miss those night feedings(now she mostly wake up after sunrise around 5-6am for milk. no wake midnight. ocasinally still will but seldom). but i guess i still prefer now. can sleep better lol
My boy slept thru the night since he was 3 weeks old (last feed at 10pm, first feed at 7am). At first quite worried that he not drinking enuf but pediatrician said that as long as within 24hours he drinks the required amt of milk, it's ok. So we gave EBM to see how much milk he drink in the day, it was definitely more than the recommended amt for his age at that time, so we just left it as it is.
He has since slept through all he way almost every night. Only certain periods of growth spurt he'll wake up for milk. Now he 2+, sometimes day time did not eat alot cos busy playing at night he'll wake up for extra feed cos he's hungry.
As long as they are full, they will not wake up for night feed. So it really depends. If your kiddo still wakes up, then you gotta feed. If never wake up, dunnid to purposely wake them up.
Empty vessels make the most noise
but at times they wake up not cos of hunger ..my girl these few nights strange strange. she sleeps around 9.30pm and then wakes bout 5am for milk then goes back to sleep n then wake up every 40mins or so till 6-7am! i dont know what she wants cos she is not hungry for sure since i jsut fed her. she will wake up n i either simply carry her or feed her then she goes back to bed n wakes up after bout 30-40mins n this goes on for 1-2hrs... then finally she sleeps again around 7plus-8am(she is usually wide awake n playing at this timing but these few days she is fussy n rubbing eyes n pulling hair n ear so i let her continue to sleep) n wakes only around 10.30-11.30am! she used to wakes up at 7-8am daily ...
Wow .... which means i gng to have a long way to go before i can really enjoy my sleep thru out he night again.
Thanks for all the reply
tats what happened to my girl when she was 5.5mths too... sleeping well for 2 weeks n started waking every 2hrs... but now she more or less sleeps rather well again...
My baby is now 10 weeks old, she started sleeping thru the night since 8 weeks old. At first I still wake her up to give her a night feed, but sometimes she will drink like 20ml and then refused to drink and wanting to sleep. So now, her last feed is around 10-11pm, then she will sleep thru til 5-6am for the next feed.
Even then, the pediatrician is saying she's overweight! :P But since she's fully breastfed, the pediatrician said a little overweight is fine.
faint.. my girl has been sleeping quite well n waking only once in the morning at around 5am for milk for about 2-3 weeks but then last night she wakes every 2hrs! dont know wats her problem..
