Hi, I'm new to here. Just wanna ask some advice if infant suitable to take flight??
huh..must at least 3mths ? how about just 1mth++?
yah can take. anytime ok as long as the flight company is ok. my girl took flight many times. first time is 2mths + (to n fro) then 3mths +(to n fro) then last week also at 9mths +(to n fro)
Im thinking of bringing my son to HK with me n hubby in Dec (by then he will be 6mos old)... Very scared that during the flight he will be cranky n cry or want to be carried around...
Annie you and your daughter are seasoned travellers any tips or advice?
hmm sg to HK how many hours? we took a flight to sg from japan last week. total 7hrs flight. i was so restless! but then my girl was ok lol. she was playing alone n sleeping sometimes.. i even got time to finish 2 movies! lol. it depends on how your baby is usually.. if he is usually ok to play alone then he should be fine. also, see if he can sleep well anywhere. if so, he might sleep throughout the flight. hard to say. impt thing is to make sure you give him something to drink n suck during take off n landing due to the air pressure. i usually hackcare my girl till she start to fuss or cry then i will give her milk (during taking off n landing cos i think she cry due to ear ache..). other than that, she sometimes sleep in the cot given by the airline n sometimes when awake she will either play in the cot or play on the floor or busy smiling n playing with other passengers with her eyes n smile hehe.
to avoid cranky baby, of cos avoid midnight flight n make sure baby well rested before flight. n giving milk in a bottle or breastfeed while taking off n landing. bring some of his fav toys to keep him occupied in case he gets bored. guess thats about all.
My friend flew back to SG from Aust with her newborn that was barely a week old. They had to come back as they did not have any help in Aust & my friend couldn't cope.
hi annie, your kid already expert in taking flight...hahha....
actually my worry is the pressure and not too sure if baby can take it. summo now H1N1...cannot let him take the mask...hahahaha...
but since a lot of infant can do it, i believe mine also can .... jia you!! heehee....
1hr plus to HK from sg only? thats short! lol. compared to the 7hrs flight my girl took... the air pressure should be ok. the worse is when taking off n landing thus like i said, let him drink something. water also ok. wats impt is he sucks n swallow to reduce the air pressure.
my girl's first few flight was about 3-4hrs from taipei to japan n japan to taipei a few times.. then last week from japan to sg n back to japan 7hrs..
Annie, SG to HK is 4hours flight..
my boy is those restless type.. when sit in stroller too long he also will fuss and wanna be carried about. Cant imagine if during the 4hours flight he fusses then no space for him to be carried about also..
Hopefully by then he will mellow down (he will be 6mth old by Dec)
oh 4hrs.. that a bit hard.. but then if he can nap in there n nap long then half of the flight he will be napping so still not that bad.. you can carry him sit on your lap if he is willing to or walk around the plane with him if he fusses. my girl is those can sit in stroller whole day one so she is ok with sitting in the plane playing alone. usually the air stewdess will give her some toys to choose from then she will be playing with those toys by herself either in the basinet or on the floor..
oh so good that they provide baby cot and toys in the plane as well.. but I'll probably bring along his own toys in case he gets bored.
my son is used to sleeping inside the hammock (yao lan) so ifhe is tired he cant sleep in stroller becos he is not used to it and he will get cranky
wah lika that ... then maybe he cant sleep in plan as well! my girl sleeps anywhere lol. on our way to sg she slept for about 3hrs! but on the way back only 1hr..
they provide infant meal as well but dont think your baby can take it cos only 6mths. my girl dosent take the meal as well cos they are something like pudding, rice, some deep fried wedges, apple juice(packet kind)etc..
Yah so very headache for me lahh cos when we bring him out and he gets tired, he refuses to sleep in stroller.. then keep rubbing his eyes till teary and red then he cry cry cry, throw tantrum, use his hands to "hit" me, then kick kick kick...
We have to carry him and rock him in our arms till he really cannot take it and KO on his own then we gently put him into stroller and pray that he doesnt wake up..
If it happens on the plane.. I dont think other passengers are gonna enjoy their flight very much ..

If it's me, I'll choose a flight during my boy's nap time. So he can sleep through the flight It's cold & comfy, he sure sleep once full.
I bring my boy to Msia by bus. Whole journey on the bus was 10hours. He did not fidget or cry at all. Wake up, play with his toys, play with us (peek-a-boo with blanket), watch DVD (we brought a portable DVD player), eat/drink, etc. Mainly he SLEEP. hahaha.
wah your boy so good! my girl was ok throughout the flight. im the one not ok.. such a torture to sit there 7hrs lol.
kams, not only for baby less than 6mths.. then basinet can take up to 10kg.. my girl 9.5mths also using that cos she only 8.4kg. it depends on the weight n not the age.
frenchkitty.. then.. err... hee. god bless you hehe. ok . you can bring him walk up n down the plane if he cranky..
How to request the bassinet in advance? Are they going to reserve us the bassinet when we do the flight booking or we need to personally call up and inform them about my needs? Or when check in time only inform and request from them??
Anyone take the budget airline like jetstar or airaisa with infant? Wonder if the service they provide isit good enuff..
when booking, inform them you got an infant. no need to tell them bout basinet. when check in, they will ask you. jsut in case you can tell them when you check in.
I tink if thats the case then Im not bringing my boy to HK in Nov anymore.. I'll dump him with my inlaws to look after him HAHAHA
Cos he'll only be 5mths old in Nov, too young to enjoy shopping anyway.
When he is older next year then bring him travelling.
yes infant got charges too n some airlines charge higher..
really? ooh.. cos so far the planes i took states can be use for below 10kg. no basinet so poor thing(the mummy). got to carry the baby all the way lol
