Confuse on jabs! can some1 explain to me?

    Hello mummies,

    i'm very confuse on the 5 in 1 & 6 in 1 jabs..

No matter what 5 or 6 in 1 we choose, baby still gonna take the 2nd hep b jab on his 1st month right??

is it okay to take the jabs at polyclinic?? as the nurses wont check for baby height and weight right?? so hw are we going to know if baby is growing well??

if taking at polyclinic, just go there Q up or must call to book for appt? and for the 1st jab (for 5 or 6 in 1), hw do we know when is the actual day to bring baby to the polyclinic for the jab??

    thks in advance =D

5-in-1 jab does not include hep B, so if you opt for this, you need to bring baby for Hep B jab (for my son i did not bring in at 1mth, nurse as me bring in at 6weeks old so can do both Hep B and 5-in-1 on same appt. they jab him 2 needles together, 1 on each thigh)

my son got his jabs at polyclinic. no problem at all.
they WILL check height and weight and general health (check if his balls drop already or not, check if butt got nappy rash, check if gums n tongue ok). if they discover any problems or you feedback got problems then they'll ask you to see doc. and no need to queue when see doc cos baby.

if you confirm wanna bring your baby go polyclinic to jab, call up for appt. for first appt, reach 15min earlier cos need to register n make payment. subsequent appt reach 5min before can .

when you call them up they'll ask you how old is baby, then they'll advise from there which date to make appt for jab. dont worry

so you mean if i bring my baby to the inject hep B on his 1st month, means that he can only take 5in1?? if wanna take 6in1, the 1st month hep B dont need to go take cos it's include inside alrdy??

and normally when should i call the polyclinic?? i mean when baby is how old?? he's now only 5 day old, izzit too early to book for appt? or will it be too late if i call later??

sry to ask so much cos i'm really very blur on this.. =(

if take hep b now, you can onli take 5-in-1 cos cant give double dose for hep b.

you can call the polyclinic anytime already. you'll be surprised some dates already fully booked!

I had called polyclinic on tues trying to get an appt for my boy to get his injection there.

There will be no one to speak to, everything are done by system. Was told that polyclinic will call back within 3 working days but till now I receive no call from them and I wonder if I ever going to receive one from them anyway.

Either they are too busy or they dont't bother. I am thinking if I should call them again.

Stonston, can you please explain to me on this... the 6 in 1 includes the Hep B 3rd dose right?

I gave birth in April, and I see that alot of April mummies have brought their baby for the 6 in 1 jab , but the polyclinic gave me appt only in July (when my baby is 3 months old). Last month, we went for the Hep B (2nd dose) jab already.

Cream, if your baby already done 2nd Hep B, you can't take 6-in-1, you gotta take 5-in-1.
if you wanna take 6-in-1, you should have told the nurse, then they'll not give 2nd Hep B jab.
if you go private clinic, what they'll do is at 3mths give 5-in-1, then subsequently, change to 6-in-1 but you gotta pay more. at polyclinic i dont tink they can make this arrangement for you. anyway, when take 5-in-1 and hep B at the same time, they'll inject together, 2 nurses, 2 needles, one on each thigh

Wawa, which polyclinic is that? what time did you call? You must call during their 'work' hours which is 8am - 12noon and 2pm - 4pm. you call at other timings you'll get answering machine. i always go to hougang polyclinic, no issue with calling in to make appt you try searching for their appt line instead of the general line.

Thanks Stonston... I think I got to check with the polyclinic again because they told me that the 6 in 1 is inclusive of Hep B 3rd dose. And at the appt in July, we are suppose to let them know which one we want. This is all so confusing.

stonston, I called the general line. Got the number from the internet, the Bukit Merah Polyclinic. Actually I called around 2 plus on friday. I didn't know they have an appt line and where should I get the number?

Re: Confuse on jabs! can some1 explain to me?

for my case, dear daughter was already jab wib her BCG n Hep B (1st jab) at the hospital when she was born.. then the following working day (1st appt), we just brought her to the polyclinic.. it's for a development check and her jaundice test.. it's also that time that we booked an appt (2nd appt) for the 2nd hep B jab when dear daughter reach 1mth old...
when we brought dear daughter to the polyclinic for the 2nd hep B jab (2nd appt), the nurse ask us to decide whether do 5-in-1 or 6-in-1.. n we're to cfm (make payment) at the next appt (3rd appt)...
the nurse sae there's not much diff between d two.. only diff is that 6-in-1: 1 less pain.. meaning 5-in-1, the Hep B (3rd dose) is jab individually at 6mth.. while the 6-in-1, the Hep B (3rd dose) is included in the jab for DPT/DT and Oral Sabin at 5mth...
n if you get the 6-in-1 at polyclinic, they'll GIVE paracetamol syrup at no additional charge... 5-in-1, have to buy the paracetamol syrup seperately..

bbphir3, i was given free paracetamol when my boy took the 5-in-1. we did not have to buy it. the nurse gave it to us immediately after the jab. but we did not give my boy at all. cos we gave him loads of water and kept him cool throughout the day
