It's really up to you If you think it will help and you're at your wits' end, no harm giving it a go. Then after that it's up to your baby to decide if they like it. My cousin (11months now) would cry non stop and my aunt gave him a dummy and he hated it. He wanted booby only.
My son went through a difficult period in the early months as well. Nothing would stop him from crying and getting to sleep! Sometimes he wouldn't sleep during the day at all because he would just cry. I rocked, walked around the house, sang to him, breastfed, bounced on the bed and he'd still be crying! He'd fall asleep eventually (at night and on hubby's chest), probably from exhaustion from all that crying. I personally dont't like dummies so never gave him one. I let him suck on his fingers when he discovered he could, and that was a comfort to him for about 2 months then he grew out of it.
They go through phases and it isn't easy seeing them like this. Hang in there, take one day at a time and you'll see this pass
