my boy is exactly the same. that time he scratched until his scalp and face all bleeding in the middle of the night. i got a scare when i went into his room when i heard him crying.
my boy also has very bad eczema. he has very very sensitive skin just like his daddy. we went to see pediatrician and the pediatrician told us that skin dryness will aggrevate the condition. he introduced us this cream and lotion called physiogel. the lotion is lighter and easier to apply all through the body. the cream is thicker and more concentrated so we only use on very bad areas. my dear son likes it when we apply the moisturizer on his face and scalp. you can get it at the bigger watsons as well as some guardians. our pediatrician asked us not to use J&J lotion as it contains fragrance.
our pediatrician also prescribed steriod cream for my dear son but we're very careful in applying it because over long term application (more than 6mths) it can cause the thinning of skin. my dear son now sees pediatrician every month to monitor his condition. he tried cream after cream and finally one worked.
to stop my dear son from scratching in the middle of the night, we bought bigger by 1 size sleepsuits and sew up the sleeves so he can't pull out. he also flips and use mattress to scratch... but that's better than using his hands.
your baby might be allergic to something that's why the eczema is triggered. it could be dust or even her own prespiration. my dear son was allergic to my milk whenever i ate peanuts. even his shower foam and shampoo we use sebamed instead of the normal J&J. J&J top to toe is too dry for my dear son. we also frequently change his bedsheets (coz he drools) and wash his blanket. my dear son also had eczema when we dont't clean him up properly after his milk. we are also feeding my boy NAN HA (hypoallergenic). he was allergic to similac. you might want to start elmintating what could be the triggers for the eczema.
my dear son is much better now after many many months of trying to eliminate what is triggering his eczema. not to worry. my pediatrician said dear son might grow out of it. my pediatrician also has very bad eczema. he even showed us his scars.
