My dear daughter head is slightly tilt to her right side, what should I do?
how old is your daughter?
Going to 6 months...
Any mummies can give me some advice?
Hi Hui Min,
Has your daughter been checked by her pediatrician yet? Could she be suffering from a condition called torticollis? It's a condition whereby a baby's neck muscles are tighter on one side thus causing her head to tilt to one side.
May i know your baby was in breech position when she was born? My son was a breech baby, he also has the tendency to always turn his head to the right side, and the paed advised us to follow up with the therapist. So we did bring our baby to the therapist ( at NUH, in case you want to know) to assess his conditions. And the therapist actually teach us to do some exercise for our baby so to help him relax his neck muscle.
best to check with your pediatrician.
Hi Huimin, Did the pediatrician assess her only in lying down position? When lying down the "problem" isnt so obvious as sitting up or on tummy.
If she did assess yr daughter on tummy as well as sitting up then she said everything was normal then maybe it's just your daughter's preference to turn her head to the right?
However if you are still having doubts best to seek 2nd opinion.
Just to share, my son was breech and born via C-section. He had slight torticollis which his prev pediatrician didnt pick out even at his 3mths vacc and growth assessment, until my Mum (who is a nurse at Kandang Kerbau Hospital) noticed and we brought him to another pediatrician at MAH for 2nd opinion.
After assessing my son and diagnosing him with slight Torticollis (which is common in breech babies becos they run out of room to move and always cramped to one awkward position), he taught us some simple stretching exercises for the affected side of the neck and now his neck is Ok again, within just 1-2 weeks of intensive training on my part since Im not working, so I can afford the time to keep on exercising for him Hehe
